  1. I think what really surprised me is when I noticed the two screencaps were only 3 minutes apart.
  2. A pretty fantastic set of screencaps from this morning by TheBEASTunchained and then TombRaiderFTW over at kicentral:
  3. Work has begun on the station (from KI PR): Also, another support heading in to the dive loop has gone up.
  4. An awesome update from the Great Ohio Coaster Club's Facebook page. I believe you can see the album without logging in. www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.609062062489766.1073741841.115430945186216&type=1
  5. A few new pictures off of Twitter and Instagram from KI PR: Not much different here: A bit of a different angle:
  6. Here ya go! Taken by elyk on kicentral: And this is from the Coney Mall side, curteousy of calakapepe at kicentral:
  7. Two more photos from the KI PR Twitter page: From the Coney Mall area: And from below the first drop: WOW!
  8. From the KI PR Twitter: And an even more interesting perspective from the KI PR Facebook:
  9. Superman? I kid. Picture curteousy of KI PR Twitter.
  10. I'm going to say no to this one. It appears they did none of the design work with Intamin on this and just did the physical construction. On their website it's listed as "Roller Coaster Construction" (along with 6 others). Interestingly, they don't have a section for the only current ride they designed from top to bottom (Outlaw Run), or rides they massively overhauled (Iron Rattler and New Texas Giant), however they do have a section of "Roller Coaster Repairs." I would say they should put these newer rides on, but I think everyone already knows who they are at this point and the rides are speaking for themselves!
  11. Not to nitpick, but I believe you meant "right" in both of these captions "those lonely pullout supports on the far RIGHT of the shot" in the first picture and "the dive loop will be just to the RIGHT of where I was standing when I got this shot" in the second picture. It looks like your standing right where the entry plaza/sign/queue will be. But I have yet to visit the park this year, so correct me if I'm wrong. Otherwise, awesome shots!
  12. A good update from yesterday from Oldiesman over at kicentral. www.flickr.com/photos/oldiesmann/sets/72157635167393268/
  13. Vertical construction started yesterday. Also a few more track pieces arrived:
  14. Not the same, but Millennium Force, I305, just to name a couple.. I'm sure they're are more. There doesn't appear to be any MCBR on this ride. Stengel, maybe a homage to the designer of SOB? Maybe Stengel came out of retirement to help with this ride? O'Suhr is likely a tribute to one of the mods(admin/owner?) of kicentral, who's last name is Suhr. And O'Terpy is likely a tribute to one of the most respected members over a kicentral, The Interpreter, often shortened to "Terpy". Now, the other text has been translated by kicentral as (on the left stone I believe) "It is a wedge of itself that splits the oak" and the second says "The quiet are guilty". The final one translates to "There's no place like home."
  15. Whaling is frowned upon and would draw the ire of PETA. I'm pretty sure they would do nothing but "wail" about said whaling. i kill myself... Dang, you guys got me! The sad thing is, I know the difference... just typing without thinking in the rush I guess. Well played.
  16. Some of the relevant folklore to go along with the Banshee story, curteousy of kicentral users supertrooper, PhantomTheaterKiss, and RollerColt: "In some accounts she is seen combing her hair as she laments. She is heard more often than seen, wailing as she approaches the abode in the late evening or early morning, sometimes perching on the windowsill two to three hours or even days before a death. As she moves off into the darkness witnesses describe a fluttering sound, such as the sound made by birds flying at night. Hence, the mistaken belief that banshees manifest as birds such as the crow. The inaccurate association with crows is probably due to confusion of the banshee with the primitive Celtic goddess Badb, the goddess of war who appeared frequently in the form of a crow." Also, in some lore, it's is mentioned that she is a beautiful woman seen combing GRAY hair (which appears to be the color in the comb), with a SILVER comb.
  17. Here is the invite sent out to the media. Photo courtesy of the Cincinnati Enquirer:
  18. It seems to fit the whole "scary" theme that seems to be going so far, with the whaling banshee, the scarecrows, the owls, the no camping, etc etc. Just my 2 cents.
  19. I've ridden Tennessee Tornado probably 4-5 times and for the life of me can't remember a "trick track" section on the vertical loop? Is it pretty minimal that I may not notice or what? Looking at pictures and video, I don't really see anything out of the ordinary either.
  20. New Twitter post from KI: "Is that Owl Paccino?":
  21. I thought the same thing! These dont look like B&M footers but the rest do. Maybe its a multi-manufacturer coaster(Yes highly unlikely)! Or a racer! Actually, the footers look very similar to a B&M (or identical in the case of the earlier footers). These most recent twitter pix have a bit more of a point in the cutout, but other pix have surfaced showing the less pointed edges in most footers. I have seen more examples, but here is Goliath at SFOG, and you can definitely see the similarities: (rcdb.com) Compare to the KI 2014 project: (Courtesy of skyasaurus on nolimits-exchange) And reposting the recent tweets for comparison:
  22. These have been Greg Scheid's last two posts on Twitter (I don't believe either have been mentioned here): From July 2nd, captioned "Progress!" Then yesterday, July 15th, he posted this picture captioned "This must be a huge restaurant!":
  23. New track has started to show up at the Clermont Steel plant. Photo courtesy of Brian5475E over at kicentral:
  24. A good new photoset from yesterday courtesy of oldiesmann: www.flickr.com/photos/oldiesmann/sets/72157634226855380/
  25. This image was just uploaded to Kings Island's Twitter page an hour or so ago, and it is titled "Field of Dreams."
