Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

^ Yeah, I love it but my friends only want to go on it once and never again. And that's my pet peeve, Old Virginia is almost completely empty, it has some nice woodies but I guess wood coasters just don't appeal to people anymore. I do like having the ability to walk on Rebel Yell whenever I want, though! -

It's no where near as good as Beast, of course, but it's good at night for the same reasons Beast is good at night. Grizzly ain't a bad woodie. I like the tunnel. As for Volcano's reliability - not had any issues with wanting to ride it and it being broken down in the 8 weeks I've been here... It's queue is a bit nightmarish, though, and a B&M's throughput would be nice. But still... Every large park has a B&M invert and I think one of KDs best features is that they don't! Don't get me started on that queue! Gum everywhere, I'm not a claustrophobic guy but man, it almost got me! -

I'm pretty sure there was lightning in the area, though. 15 miles is pretty big and I saw no rain or lightning, heard no thunder, but they shut the park down for like 30 minutes. I may be wrong though, what are the new weather policies? -

Yeah, Anaconda is always a walk-on, but I've never been lucky enough for a solo ride! If you sit in the very back on Intimidator, you get some pretty amazing airtime. I even got some on that first airtime hill. Nice photo TR! Glad you liked the park! -

Going this week. Just to add a new conversation, why do you guys think Drop Zone's been having a gradual decrease of popularity? I've gone to the park 5 times this season and it's been a walk-on every single time. -

I went before schools broke up on a Monday/Tuesday and it was what I'd call busy (for an American Park not in Orlando, anyway. TBF it was like any major British park gets.) I asked several staff why it was so busy and they were like "lol this isn't busy". So I conclude that CP, like Orlando, is just permanently busy. It's also crap. EDIT: When they bother to open their rides, the queues move steadily because the one thing they rock at is throughput... But the queue will still be long. Even longer if it's raining anywhere closer than Australia, because there will only be one train, if it's open at all. The place is a joke. I queued well over an hour for Maverick when it wasn't suffering intermittent closures due to magical invisible rain... We only really rode everything once over 2 days because the rides are too poor to want to queue more than 40 mins for, which is what you have to queue for, at least, for anything "major". Rides close if there's lightning within a 15 mile radius from the park. It wasn't because of "invisible rain". -
BOLT: THE FULL EXPERIENCE! Here's your guide to everything Bolt! It's thunder and lightning at Holiday Thrills! With Thunder Lap, Holiday Thrill's beloved hypercoaster, and [Lightning] Bolt, the two opposites are competing for your heart! But we all know, without Thunder there's no lightning, and vice versa, so we hope the two will blend nicely together to make your stay at our park all the more enjoyable! whar to go.bmp The quickest way to get to "Bolt" this season is to enter through the interstate entrance. You'll notice a new pathway to your right. Take it, of course! SCR522.BMP After what seems like a long path of nothingness (my only complaint), you reach "Bolt"'s plaza. SCR524.BMP At the end of the plaza is of course, the entrance to the queue. SCR525.BMP We expect lines to be massive the first few seasons, so we put in vending machines (the gray building) to ease your wait. SCR526.BMP Your now nearing the station! Pay attention to the big sign that tells you what to do. SCR528.BMP You've boarded, and now you're getting ready to launch! SCR521.BMP (Holiday Thrill's new skyline) SCR530.BMP And your back! Load off as quickly as possible at the exit station. SCR531.BMP But don't forget to view your pictures on the way out! SCR532.BMP Be sure to check out "Bolt"... next season at Holiday Thrills in Virginia Beach, VA! ------ LIGHTWAVE: THE FULL EXPERIENCE! The new mega-coaster at "Myrtle Magic"! Three trains: Yellow, Purple, and Red. SCR537.BMP Make your way around the lake, or take the chairlift, to the back of the park. SCR498.BMP Oh the anticipation! SCR499.BMP Begin your mission! SCR499.BMP Begin your mission! SCR500.BMP Climb up the incredibly fast and scary cable lift hill! At 205ft, one of the many wonders about this ride is that you can get an amazing view of the beaches and hotels, guests, swimming pools, you name it! It's all there, and it's breathtaking! SCR538.BMP Speaking of breathtaking, here's the first drop! SCR504.BMP Take the intense first turn! SCR505.BMP Twist! SCR506.BMP Floaty airtime! SCR507.BMP After floaty airtime, you twist some more and get those terrifying headchoppers! SCR509.BMP (This is something inspired by Intimidator 305, the untwist then twist again element) SCR510.BMP Airtime.....while twisting! SCR511.BMP Floaty, soft airtime. SCR512.BMP Overbanked turn. SCR513.BMP Twisty-airtime, and another speedy turnaround. SCR515.BMP Ejector, fast, hard airtime! SCR516.BMP Why hello there brake run! SCR533.BMP There you have it, "Lightwave"...new next season at Myrtle Magic in Myrtle Beach, SC! So which is YOUR favorite? Bolt or Lightwave? Comments appreciated!

^ i think the problem is with the inverted, it won't let me do the supports i want because the car is on the other side of the track. But I just used a Hyper track and it looks fine -

braztaz replied to JDo217's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You're best bet would be either Tuesday or Wendesday. I'm not sure if anything's different with Hershey, but Kings DOminion and Busch Gardens are nearly empty those days. -

Should be making a trip u there next week. The only rides I have yet to ride are Shockwave and Hurler. And I don't plan on. Do you think they're worth the credit? -

Welcome to TPR! Since the entrance is sticking up out of the custom station, I think you should change the entrance type to something smaller, or something that would blend in more (like Log Cabin). But great job! You look like you put a lot of work into it. Can't wait to see more. -

Go to the data file and you just have to find which one you don't want. Did you keep a backup of your old data file? Oh, and I'm trying to make a top thrill dragster like ride, and I'm stuck as to which track to use! I'm debating between a Hyper-Twister and a LIM Launch. I have 8 cars so height or power of the launch is not a problem, but I can't decide which one I should use. The Hyper-Twister has the cars I want but the LIM is closest to the track I want... or if anyone has a link to a Giga track that can go 90 degrees, could you send it to me? Thanks -

IMO the trees kind of ruin the city-feeling, ya know? When I think of Spiderman I think of soaring through the city, not the forest. However the entire thing is wonderfully put together and I love it as it is!
