Photo TR: Evacuated from Disney's Nemo Ride!
timfar replied to timfar's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I don't know the cause of the breakdown. They gave us very little information. -
We got stuck on the Nemo Submarine ride at Disneyland for about 40 minutes last Wednesday, and were ultimately evacuated through the grotto - a surprise treat! It was the cherry on the top of an already spectacular Disneyland day. We did the 1-day park-hopper, and got on everything we wanted using fast passes only twice. The longest wait of the day was 15 minutes. Ride tally: Soarin' 1 Monsters Inc. 1 California Screamin' 2 Toy Story Midway Mania 1 Maliboomer 2 Mulholland Madness 1 Grizzly River Run 1 Jungle Cruise 1 Pirates of the Caribbean 1 Splash Mountain 2 Winnie the Pooh 1 Big Thunder Mountain 1 Nemo 1 Space Mountain 2 Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters 2 Indiana Jones 1 Here are some pictures of the Submarine Ride evacuation: What do you mean "we'll be here 'quite' a while"?!? A look at the channel inside the grotto. They gave us hard hats!! There was like 4 feet between the catwalk and the ceiling. A close-up look at one of the subs. I think this is the inward-bound channel. Looks like a mini James Bond villain underground lair. The Japanese enjoy their evacuations. Here's where the path branches off to the outside. The exit from the inside. The exit from the outside. We emerge on a dirt path underneath the Fantasyland Autopia. The boy and I know that what we just saw was more valuable than what they're going to give us for the "inconvenience". The suits come out to give us in food vouchers and 3 family-size fast passes. We re-enter the park from behind Small World. What a great day!!!

The WCB 2010 Appreciation Thread
timfar replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't even know where to start - this event was SO above and beyond great. I was with my kids, 9 and 11, and sharing this day with them was one of the highlights of my life. All we talked about on the way home was how to get my wife to agree to let us go on a TPR trip someday. We didn't do KBF, but we rode hard and ran between coasters during both ERT sessions. My kids hung with me for 16-hours in the park (8:30 to 12:30) So many highlights of the day (in chronological order): - Discovering the true nature of TPR ERT (walk-on, re-ride). - Finding the Bebe's systematically trying every seat on X2 without having to leave the station, and taking their advice on the best ones. I wonder if they did both trains. - Getting MY favorite seat on X2 (front row, inside, both sides) and going for multiple re-rides without getting up. - Post ERT front row walk-ons and instant back-row re-rides on Riddler's and Batman before the GP could make it to the back of the park. - Riding the scariest ride in the park - the tower elevator. - Getting stuck in line for Superman on deck for the front row for 30 minutes. Talking to the ride ops, maintenance guys and other guests was a blast. - Marvelling at the primitive lap bar sensor technology on Superman (a single light indicating a loose lapbar - it doesn't say which one it is, just that one of them is loose). - Watching the park empty out while walking the other direction toward Goliath at the outset of nighttime ERT. - Meeting a great trio of people (a man and two women - wish I'd gotten names) in line at Goliath who we kept meeting up with as we made our way around the park. Many, many thanks to all involved. -
The last time I was at the park (Termination Day) Tatsu was kind of - I don't want to say shaky, but there was a noticeable vibration when the train picked up speed, when in the past it was completely smooth. I noticed the same thing on the Time Machine. Is this a B&M phenomenon? Does it come and go? I've noticed some of you saying a particular ride was "running great today". What causes a coaster to run differently at different times?

Let me see if I understand this... The above is a list of RC enthusiast events similar to WCB that Club TPR members will have access to? Like with ERT and stuff? For what was it? 70 bucks or something? I didn't even know this stuff was going on! Are these other events as carefully and lovingly planned and executed as those initiated by the Alveys? Robb, you have my respect and admiration. Thanks. -
*** THE BEBES *** Rainbow Magicland ITALY TR

Boy am I dumb. I read through this TR thinking that somehow after evening ERT at SFMM you guys boarded a plane to the East coast and hit these two parks TODAY (er, yesterday now). A real-time report. Man, you guys are hard-core! ... I'm laughing my AO at myself because in the back of my mind I was thinking "how (and why) the hell did they take a break from a DRIVING TRIP ON THE EAST COAST and fly out to SFMM for Termination Day?" And the answer came back: "because they knew Termination Day was going to be THAT awesome." And that was enough for me. No joke, that's what I was thinking. And my A just fell O. I've got to start reading more carefully. Loved the shot of Mr Bebe hitting himself in the face and all the crying pictures. Keep up the good, funny work. It was great meeting you guys. I really wish we could have taken Lady Bebe's advice and stayed for nighttime ERT, but the little ones were exhausted. My boy was tickled pink to see a picture of himself in a real live TPR TR! A quick question: I am going to be in Virginia on July 16th, a Thursday. You were there on a Wednesday. Did you get the impression that the crowds were light at PKD because there was a storm coming or because it was a Wednesday? I'm trying to decide whether to hit BGE or PKD because I've only got one day and BGE has a QuickQueue and PKD has no form of legalized line jumping. I'm at a point in my life where one 1.5 hour wait in the hot sun will crush my soul AND ruin the day. -
TPR's Termination Day! Sunday, June 28th, 2009
timfar replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Thanks to SFMM and the Alveys for a day I will never forget. We got in 4 rides on Terminator during morning ERT and LOVED it! Everybody in my party took issue with the park's designation of the ride as a "Moderate Thrills" attraction. My first ride on X2 put us on a different course when I realized my phone, keys and parkinson's meds were all gone. Thankfully I had backup meds and I got my phone back. The Gold Flash pass saved us and we got on every ride we wanted by the end of the day, but we were exhausted and had to leave before the nighttime ERT session. It was a pleasure meeting Robb and some of the familiar faces from TPR. I did a lot of "hey, it's THAT guy!" Great job, Robb. -
TPR's Termination Day! Sunday, June 28th, 2009

I promised to leave Robb alone until the 28th so I'm posting these questions in the forum for anyone to answer: 1.) I read a post where Robb states "if you are smart" it is possible to get 2 or possibly 3 rides on X2 without paying for them. Obviously one strategy is to participate in the running of the bulls. Beyond that, can anyone elaborate on what "being smart" means? 2.) Another question on strategy: when the park opens is it better to have a good position in the Flash Pass line or a good position in the X2 line when the opening of X2 could be delayed long enough to take you out of the running for a Flash Pass? 3.) Finally, I just watched "Roller Coasters in the RAW, Volume 1" in which Robb has a difficult (painful) time with the S & S 4D coaster in Japan and states "that was worse than 'X'". Is X2 better? Smoother? Less painful? Finally, one only Robb can answer: 4.) I read your response to a post about whether or not on Termination Day we will be allowed to position ourselves favorably with regard to the running of the bulls toward X2 as the park opens. I think you said that generally we are not free to move around the park during a limited ERT, but you would ask about this specific case. Do you have an update on this? Thanks!! Really looking forward to ERT on TD with TPR!!! -Tim -
Any SFMM flash pass reviews yet?
timfar replied to TriboElectric's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Has anyone had any trouble with the other patrons whilst using the Flash Pass? You know, aggressiveness due to jealousy?
