There are times that I wish I would have said "care to join me?" or "hop on!" to the lifeguard. But I'm just glad I can laugh about it and share it as a funny moment in my life.

Back in the day, when I was a chunky teenager, I went to Darien Lake without my swimsuit. I didn't think I would be going into the water park, but it was too hot and I just had to get wet. So I went in my shorts. For some reason I was into free-balling back in the day as well, never again after this incident. Anyway, I got to the top of the slide where this attractive lifeguard was posted. Wanting to be all macho, I did a jump/plop onto the tube so she could send me down the slide, and the front of my shorts completely ripped open, exposing my whole "package". She screamed and I tried to cover up and push myself down the slide to get the heck out of there. The slide was not enclosed, and I could hear her yelling "oh my god" and other descriptive comments to her fellow lifeguards. I had no other clothes, so I stole a towel that was lying around and sat around the park for the rest of the day (I wasn't old enough to drive and had to wait for my family to leave). I have not been back to a water park since then, which was nearly two decades ago. And I never free-ball either.

Great trip report. I love your photos and the amount of detail you went into. I never paid much attention to KKs waterpark, but after seeing your photos I'm just as excited about the water slides as I am about getting on Lightning Run! You perfectly captured the park and it's surrounding area beautifully.

The last time I went to Darien Lake (Fright Fest 2013) I went on a Friday evening. My friends and I were among the first in the park after opening and as usual went to RoS first. The first thing we noticed was that the trash cans in the station were literally jam-packed full of garbage! I wondered how this could be since the park hadn't been open since the previous weekend! It was quite disgusting. Then with only a 4 train wait it took nearly 25 minutes to get on RoS. The ops were very slow and what made it worse was the fact that there was a supervisor on the load side actually checking restraints, she was the slowest of them all and didn't seem motivated or motivational to the rest of the crew. For a ride that is 2.5 minutes long that's more time spent sitting in station than out on the run! That's nuts! I used to operate RoS back in the parks Six Flags days, we as minimally paid staff never thought about going slow. Not only does that waste time but it makes the day go by so much slower. Staying busy and keeping the pace up was fun and made work bearable. It was honestly the slow days that I hated as an employee. That experience on RoS in 2013 made me and my friends enthusiasm for the park severely diminished for the rest of that night. None of us have been back since and we don't really feel the need to go back. Which is a shame because I used to love that park. I grew up there, I worked there for 5 years, now I don't care if I ever go back there. So long story short, they need 2 trains on RoS or at least some motivated employees. I can understand 1 train ops on the other coasters but RoS definitely needs 2 trains. But I wish the park nothing but the best. I would love to see it flourish and prosper.

What!? That spinning looks flipping amazing! It reminds me of a Zipper. I really hope that the spinning stays like it is in the video! I was honestly hoping for flippage of this magnitude, but didn't get my hopes up. I wonder how the spinning will differ with riders (weights, height, empty seats, etc.)? And it looks like each row is independent from its opposing side, which is an awesome bonus! Great job S+S and SFFT! Please don't tame this beast!

Seabreeze Amusement Park
ParcMan replied to Matman-TheRide's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I drove by Seabreeze on a whim the other day, I just wanted to drool and wish that the park was already open. I noticed that Jackrabbit had some retracking done. The double-down and hill just after it were the only parts I could see with new wood. I'm not sure if there was track work done anywhere else. I also saw that they posted pictures of the freshly painted Tilt-a-Whirl on FB. It looks great! I can't wait for the park to open, it's gong to be a fun year! According to Seabreeze it is more purple than blue in color. -
I would rather see a roller coaster or dark ride go into the Galaxy Theater than a new show. Maybe both. The building is tall enough to have a dark ride on the ground floor and put a compact coaster of sorts on a second level. But that is just wishful thinking, I'd never expect that from Darien Lake in a million ka-jillion years! Let alone any new coaster at all!

Seabreeze Amusement Park
ParcMan replied to Matman-TheRide's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Seabreeze is in my opinion the best amusement park in New York. It has a great atmosphere, the rides are fun and always working and the parking is free! What's not to love? I was thrilled when they purchased some of Freestyles M.P.'s rides. I almost wished they purchased more of them, it would have enhanced an already great lineup. My only fear is that they seem to be running out of room for expansion, unless they want to start building into the parking lots. -

Universal Studios Singapore Discussion Thread

Now that the Puss in Boots coaster is being built on the last plot of empty land, where else can they build without removing an existing attraction? -
Personally, I would rather see Predator get an overhaul than have a brand new coaster. Maybe even new trains for Mind Eraser and RoS. I used to work there during the Six Flags era, and I agree with the reply letter from DL. There needs to be a substantial upgrade to infrastructure. Things got neglected that shouldn't have been during Six Flags' reign. My other wish for Darien Lake is to see the picnic area in the parking lot upgraded. That place is naaaasty! Other than that, the additions to the park the past few years have been great. No complaints from me. And the 2013 additions are a huge step in the right direction.

TPR Front Page RE-Design Contest!
ParcMan replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Right now TPR has a simple but cluttered home page. I wanted to come up with something new and fresh, but still very familiar of the TPR brand. It is a simple concept but it offers a fresh and more modern look without getting messy and complicated. The main picture is scrollable as well as the three updates below. I've included a randomize button because let's face it, there's some crazy stuff just waiting to be found on this site!! The random stuff area can change between videos, photos and reports. The biggest change is moving the menu to the left of the screen. I didn't do a concept of the pull down menu but if a pull down was opened it would move the other menu buttons down to replace the TPR motto thing, and a new subset would appear under the opened menu until a link was clicked or another menu button was chosen. The announcement area on the bottom of the screen is just clickable links. If the Seaworld update box was hovered over, the other two updates would fade and a text preview of what the update is about would take their places until clicked or the mouse was moved. Let me know what you think.
