http://www.kvia.com/news/mls-commissioner-stadium-in-downtown-necessary-for-all-future-mls-expansion-franchises/26514652 http://www.wave3.com/story/29887171/louisville-city-fc-eyes-potential-sites-for-stadium Seems like a recent push. I think their downtown stadiums have been more successful so they're pushing all future franchises towards downtown locations. And to keep us on topic... AIRTIME!

I'm not 100% sure but I believe KK (or the fair board idk which) owns all the land behind deep water dive, T3, and Raging Rapids, which includes the vacant parking lot between the hotels and the waterpark. Again, I'm not 100% sure but I do believe they own all that All the recent momentum with the professional soccer team may be an interesting wrinkle for the Fair Board - Old Cardinal Stadium is probably too far gone to save, but the Fair Board could replace the stadium with something more soccer-friendly (9000-10000 seats, grass field, etc. - the drainage system is still in place) with the condition they get to use it during the State Fair for concerts. They may be willing to sell some land to Kentucky Kingdom to raise some cash. A smaller stadium would still allow the Fair Board to construct their storage building that they want to build upon demolishing the current stadium. Kentucky Kingdom doesn't really appear to be using its amphitheater, so removing that could free up some space as well. I went to a couple of concerts there during the Six Flags era, so there could still be some plans for it for 2016 or beyond. When it's time for Broadbent Arena to come down, that will be time for Kentucky Kingdom to literally move the front gate closer to Freedom Hall - a new arena could always be be built elsewhere on the property if it's needed, and it opens up space for the theme park further away from the airport. You could say Old Cardinal Stadium is too far gone... It was completely demolished last winter. I wouldn't anticipate a soccer stadium coming to the Fairgrounds. The Fair Board is notoriously difficult to deal with and after the difficulties had with the Bats organization, LCFC will not be building at the Fairgrounds. I think what KK needs to do is get rid of the Motion theater (something that will never happen) and continue construction back into the parking lot to the northwest. The park is already very disjointed, and adding rides behind T3 and the waterpark would only contribute to that. Adding in the front section of the park would put more dry rides in a location that has some semblance of "flow." Old Cardinal Stadium is very much still there. I drive by it on my way to work every day. According to what I've read, in order for Louisville City Football to participate in MLS, their stadium has to be built downtown. This would rule out a fairgrounds location. That's a lot of eventual empty space for KK to move into.

I mean... I LOVE Voyage. It's easily my favorite ride. I've ridden it both with MCBR and without. It's great either way. And I understand some people don't like it. And that's fine. It's all fine. Some people like some things. Some people like other things. I'll never understand people being so bitter about such a fun hobby. -

Oh boy. Is it already time for our bi-weekly Voyage roughness discussion? I mean... I don't have the strongest stomach for rides. I know I have limits. But I ride as much as I can handle and I love them. Am I not allowed to be an enthusiast? I'm not following. -

I think what Paula is implying here is that there's an unintended hidden message in there. I'm stumped. Maybe they're saying "AR......EM.......CEE.' -

Front seat Voyage is the only way to go for me. I've never had a problem with the roughness up front. Night rides are incredible. -

Flying into Louisville will give you more/cheaper options most likely. The drive is a little over an hour...slightly longer than Evansville, but you'll have less connections. I hardly noticed the restraints on Thunderbird. So, I guess that's a good thing. -

The launch adds so much to the ride. First, it's fun to watch. I stood there and just watched the thing launch over and over. The sound effects, light effects, fog...everything about that launch adds to the experience. Plus, the ride is just non-stop action. From launch to brakes it's always doing something: launching, flipping, twisting. There's never down time. Nothing gimmicky here. -

I've been with plenty of friends that I would consider "general public" that love the ride. My dad is far from an enthusiast and he loves it. I've talked a ton of GP in line who love it. I've also talked to GP who think it's too rough. It just varies from person to person. I'll never understand how people hate the ride, but hey... they have three other great coasters for those people. -

Couldn't agree more. Legend has always left me feeling more shaken than Voyage. I've never found Voyage painful. Intense, sure. That's why I love it. Legend has always left me with a slight headache, whereas Voyage has always just left me out of breath. It's interesting how this ride can have such polarizing experiences for people. -

They were using a "boarding pass" system to make sure everyone had a chance to ride. You were given a specific time window to when you could get in line. I got there at 5:00 opening and nabbed the 5-6 timeslot. Ended up only waiting about 20 minutes for the front seat. Later in the day, however, the line looked to have grown quite a bit. I'm guessing the wait was easily over an hour at that point. As for Thunderbird itself, it highly exceeded my expectations. The launch and the whole ride in general were a lot more intense than I expected. It's booking through all the elements, save for that amazing hang-time on that last roll. I ended up riding with Chad from WBKR (the guy who hosted the announcement ceremony back in July) and he interviewed me about the ride after. I'm sure it was just incoherent out-of-breath babbling about how great the ride was. I do remember him asking me to pick Voyage vs Thunderbird. How dare he. Got in some laps on the woodies as well. Voyage is still my baby. My first lap didn't get trimmed, second lap did. Didn't matter. Still an incredible ride. Raven and Legend were running great! I could tell Legend had some extensive retracking done over the winter. Can't wait to get back and ride again. Thunderbird is definitely a hit. -

I went on Voyage opening day and crowds were light. With HW not being as centrally located as Kings Island, it doesn't attract the same amount of crowds earlier in the season. Early season at HW is always pretty light. Don't expect 3 hours. I don't think I've ever waited more than an hour for a coaster at Holiday World. -

What a fruitless hint. Still doesn't narrow us down from our top-3 guesses of B&M, Intamin, or Mack. Sneaky, sneaky. -

Something felt off to me about the picture of the Mayflower hull. I took it into Photoshop and played around with it. Flipping the image over on its side revealed something interesting.... There seems to be the image of someones face and arm hidden in the hull. I can't quite make out what they're doing, but there is definitely something there. If anything, this means we CAN be looking for secrets in the images. They are there. Not sure how helpful they are at this point, but they're there. -

I don't think a multi-inversion, record length/speed/height steel coaster is what we're looking at here. That just doesn't fit Holiday World. If I had to put my money on it, I really am picturing a Verbolten type ride. I can easily picture a launch up into that pit where the show building would go, and then a faster launch back into the woods to interact with The Voyage. They've mentioned recently that they're trying to put more of a focus into theming (see Wildebeestro, Safari Outpost, Candy Kitchen). It wouldn't surprise me to see them add a heavily-themed, thrilling familty coaster like Verbolten. I think it'd be a great addition to the park.
