  1. Most people here in Louisville don't like the name change. Everyone is saying Kentucky Kingdom will always be Kentucky Kingdom. However, if the name change is what it will take to reopen the park, well take it.
  2. If Holiday World is willing to take over Kentucky Kingdom, I would not expect Holiday World to add a steel coaster any time soon.
  3. I should say the time Six Flags Rebranded Geauga Lake.
  4. IMO this could be very possible. I don't believe the Koch family will permeantly operate the place, but it is possible they could operate the park for a year or two to keep it in shape and running until a fixed owner is found. That would help keep Kentucky Kingdom alive. People think KK and HW are rivals but its the complete opposite. The parks even had deals for employees before Kentucky Kingdom closed. For Example: When KK was open your work I.D. gave you Free Admission to Holiday World all season long. If you had worked over a certain number of hours you were allowed to have a buddy sticker which would allow you to enter holiday world all season long and a friend could enter free as well.
  5. Holiday World operating Kentucky Kingdom? Possible http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20120116/NEWS01/301160090/Holiday-World-owners-may-seek-rights-to-operate-Kentucky-Kingdom?odyssey=tab%7Cmostpopular%7Ctext%7CFRONTPAGE
  6. The Kentucky General Assembly will start meeting tomorrow. Last summer the Fairbord and Louisville Politics said Kentucky Kingdom will be one of their top priority for the General Assembly in January 2012. IMO if everything goes well with the assembly, The Fairboard will chase Ed Hart. Realistically we all know no one is interested in the park but him. With Ed Hart, The state just needs to put up 20 million or, Louisville will put up 10, and the state would put up 10 million for a combine total of 20 million. Without him, the state will need to contribute 30 million I believe. That's only if the Al J. Schneider Cos didn't back out since Ed Harts departure. If the Al J. Schneider Cos backed out, the state will have to put up 50 million. BTW, It will cost 50 million to demolish the park. All in all, we will all here some big news about the park in a couple of days or weeks.
  7. Well, from what I've just heard Dominator was indeed made for Kentucky Kingdom. Dominator was supposed to be built in the vampire old spot as well as the squids dry slides spot. Steel Venom could as well been originally planed for the park as well. Looking at Dominator Design/map below, their is space for a impulse coaster right behind Dominator. Steel Venom would occupy the spot Greezed Lighting occupy today. It seems things changed as soon as Six Flags purchased Geauga Lake. So as soon as that happen, Six Flags quickly purchased Road Runner Express, and In 2001, Six Flags added Sky Coaster to fill the blank space in the park.
  8. A 20 million dollar investor wants the park reopen! http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20110823/NEWS01/308230077/Schneider-Cos-willing-guarantee-up-20-million-Kentucky-Kingdom-investment?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|Home
  9. A year ago today, Six Flags announced the closure of Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom for good, but not so quite. The question is, is that do any of you all think Ed Hart will get the final approval for the bond? Also, what about the new B&M? do any of you think the coaster is actually gonna be 8-10 million?
  10. Granted, the sizing may not be just right, but it seems like Led Zeppelin would fit nicely in Chang's old spot. That area is being occupied by the waterpark/parking lot. The pic you crop is smaller than what the coaster actually is. I believe the new coaster will be over on the small side occupying this area.
  11. btw, The Led Z. has a MASSIVE footprint. It front print is about twice the length as Chang footprint. Their isn't enough room for that coaster. The only place this coaster can fit is behind T2, but that area will be used for the parking lot.
  12. Highly doubt that Ed will want Led Z. It just not a record breaking coaster.
  13. IMO, The reason why Ed is wanting to expand the water park is because that is what Six Flags was intending to do (which I doubt they were going to do). Like he said before, you can't attract many with water rides, etc. Ed wants Kentucky Kingdom to be a ride park, not water, entertainment, etc. Months ago, Ed said he wants to add a water park expansion for 20 million with an activity pool, 16 slides, etc. He also mention he wanted to add a new coaster for 8-10 million. Just Last week Ed mention he wanted to add a B&m, so that will cost about 15-20 million. If he wants a B&M he probably decided to make some cuts involving the water park expansion, so it may cost 8-10 million at the moment. What some of you may or may not know, Kentucky Kingdom has a facebook page up and running. They're also asking for our own opinions from their fans on things they should or should not do, like me expressing my feelings about the front side being closed and no longer being apart of Kentucky Kingdom. Many fans had also mention that we don't really want to see a waterpark expansion, just rides, rides, and more rides.
  14. Remember, Ed doesn't really won't a water park, he just want a ride park/thrill park. Holiday World in my opinion really doesn't have much to offer in the ride department. Don't more people go for rides than water anyways?
  15. IMO, Holiday World and Beech Bend arent close to being competitors with Kentucky Kingdom. Kentucky Kingdom did have competition back in the day and that was Kings Island. Kings Island and Kentucky Kingdom went head and head each season. When Six Flags took over the park Kings Island added the action zone and later the son of beast. Then Six Flags gave up on Kentucky Kingdom and focused on other Six Flags parks.
  16. I know what the general public knows, I use to be one! Out of anyone I went to Six Flags Great America with this year, when it's family or friends, no one knew who built what rides. I had to solely tell them who built what. Heck! I didn't even know Raging Bull or Batman or Superman were built by B&M until about 2 years ago! The track design never came across to my head that the same people built the rides. I didn't even KNOW that different companies build different rides. I don't think when people in the Louisville area will see the B&M and go "OMG OMG!! It's the box track like Chang!!! This is going to be *amazing!!*" Just saying When you use "I" and I that just your opinion. Btw, you're still apart of the General Public just like all of us. Theres no need for a debate man, grow up. Everyone has different opinion, and if thats your opinion from you POV in your eyes, then let it be your POV. Not everyone have the same POV you know.
  17. None of us knows was the General Public knows, we are all going by are own opinions.
  18. the general public may not know what B&M is, however, they just want to ride something BIG and BEAUTIFUL I may add. this below is pointless in my opinion but... Most of the GP don't know what B&M is, but like Chang and Diamondback, many people know that those two coasters were made from the same company because they were both beautiful coasters, and had the exact same style track.
  19. but, we need that attraction to bring in more people in-order to make money, and a B&M is the ride needed to bring guest back. We all know this. With a B&M, many would travel miles, especially if it was the first 4-D b&M coaster on this continent. Without Chang, the park seems dead. Many don't seem to come to the park without a ride just like Chang or even better.
  20. Chang does have a large foot print, especially because of the lift going awards from majority of the ride and the first inversion loop. & I totally disagree about a B&M being too much for Kentucky Kingdom... if you can remember, under Ed Hart management back in the 1990s, the park grew and grew, and it was a thrill park! not a family park that Six Flags created. Ed Hart in my opinion is committed to making Kentucky Kingdom a thrill park once again, with major rides from every corner you turn to in the park. Chang fitted just right into the park in the 1990s and I'm sure the coaster he is planing will do just the same.
  21. Remember, Ed wants a record breaking coaster. Something big, and better than Chang, Something that no other park has. So I'll doubt the Led Zepplin will be ride for the park in 2012. The new ride Ed wants will be place over in the front area of the park. I'm not sure either about a floorless coaster. It just to basic in my opinion. However, weeks ago, Kentucky Kingdom set up a poll on the parks facebook page. The poll asked fans which coaster do you prefer. Many of the fans preferred a sit-down coaster rather than a stand-up, inverted, and also suspended coaster.
  22. The height limit for the park is 200 feet from what I've heard. A floorless coaster would be nice but, I think Ed may go for a dive machine or that new type of coaster at garland? Remember, Ed wants something other parks don't have in the ohio river valley. He also likes to be the first person to put something into Kentucky Kingdom that other parks in the United States or this continent do not have.
  23. Ed want a B&M coaster. http://parkthoughts.com/2010/12/20/interview-kentucky-kingdom-redevelopment-group/
  24. Isn't there a difference between a Theme park and a Amusement Park?
  25. This park seem... LAME! I'm sorry, but the park needs rides and major attractions to get business. I would rather go to beech bend then this place. This park is about 45 miles from Kings Island, and is less about 60 or 70 miles away from Kentucky Kingdom. I just can't see this park making a lot of business.
