  1. But the folks at Holiday World said it would take about 2 years to get the park ready
  2. Who all believes, THIS TIME Kentucky Kingdom will reopen? It is now the month of June so now the park has less than a year until its proposed reopening.
  3. I think its more personal. Ed has spent nearly a decade building this park. Having something torn down that you've invested your own money into isn't worth losing. I believe IMO Kentucky Kingdom is the most sucessful park that has been ran on fairgrounds (Before SixFlags). This park was the real deal before Six Flags took it over and flat out ruined it.
  4. Not many people have passes to Holiday World from the Louisville area. If passes are cheaper than the Holiday World price I'm sure whoever has a Holiday World sp would trade it in. But when you talk about the old Six Flags managament team, isn't that the dark past? I mean, Ed didn't have a problem with coaster wars, but Six Flags just couldn't handle it. I still believe that what hurt the Kingdom under the SIx Flags management is Geauaga Lake, but Oh well... The Kingdom's future is looking brighter anyways.
  5. Ed said he don't expect to reach 1.3 million guest until the 3rd year or so. Back in the day Holiday World was no competition. However, now obviously Ed is focused on getting his customers back who have chosen Holiday World over the Kingdom. These are two different parks that offers two totally different bag of rides. Holiday World mainly focuses on old family attractions and waterslides, while the Kingdom mainly focuses on new thrill rides. Holiday World is for family waterpark enthusiasts, while the kingdom is for familiys and thrills seekers. Holiday World is for value, and the Kingdom is supposedly going to try to take the name as the Value Park. It should be interesting to see where things go. I could see Kentucky Kingdom hurting Holiday World somewhat in the future. (When I say The Kingdom, I'm talking about the park before Six Flags)
  6. So, the battle of who owns Holiday World continues... http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2013303240105
  7. I drove past the park last night. I have not been past the park in a while because I've been away at school. What is interesting is that all of the parks lights where on when I drove past. Most of the lights haven't been on since 2009, From the stadium behind T2 all the way do the stations lights on Twisted Twins and Mile High Falls. (I have not seen the lights on from that area since 2007). It gave me a feeling that life was in the park right then in there. I know there was a news story about the lights being on from last October, but that was only the front of the park, The entire park was not lighted up at the point of time. I will try to have pictures soon.
  8. That's where the 10 million in tax credits come in. So if they get those credits they just need to pay back 15 million. WRONG! The tax credits have no bearing on the fact that Ed Hart's group needs to secure a $25 million loan. The Tax Credits are going to help pay back a portion of the loan. It's projected the tax credits will be $10 million.
  9. That's where the 10 million in tax credits come in. So if they get those credits they just need to pay back 15 million.
  10. Don't be forum poopers lol. It's fun to speculate. Waiting 2-3 months for tourism tax credits doesn't give me a boner lol
  11. There is only one Jump 2, and that is a prototype I do believe. When the quake was added in 1992, it was the first Waikiki Wave ever created. Another Waikiki Wave ride was added to Dreamland in Austrillia sometime after that. From what I know, it's still in operation today with no problems. Was Timber Tower at Dollywood a Prototype? What about Delirium at Kings Island?
  12. I can't see Ed doing any business with Intamin, or I can't see Intamin wanting to do any business with Kentucky Kingdom. Remember what happened to the last and only Intamin ride that was in the park SMH. But this is Ed Hart and not Six Flags. But I can see a Jump 2 being added to the park. That ride is unique and you can't find it anywhere else unless you go to Canada (I believe). I could see it being located at Skycoasters former location. But what I see being added before a Jump 2 is a Zamperla Air Race.
  13. Carnival Ride? Aha that's funny. Ed Hart is not that type of guy. I could however see maybe a kiddie type carnival ride though or scrambler. Other than that the only rides you will see is Huss Rides, Zamperla Rides, and maybe a S&S ride.
  14. It may say that in the lease, but Ed said he isn't really planning on investing $1 million in improvements annually. He said in a radio interview HERE IN LOUISVILLE that he's planning on investment way more than that. He wants to make Kentucky Kingdom what it once was.
  15. You guys are forgetting something. Yes Ed has announced that he plans on doubling the size of the waterpark, which is needed. He has also said that he will be adding something to the dry side but he isnt given out that information because of competition with Kings Island and Holiday World. The only thing that we know is that he will add in TWO MAJOR THRILL RIDES in 2014. When Ed operated the park in the 1990s the major thrill rides he added in his time was The Hellavator, and the Quake! Both rides were a "World First" BTW. Could there be a World first in 2014? There's a HIGH good chance. If you don't know what the Quake is, here's a video of it in action in the link below http://blip.tv/ridemanvideo/the-quake-at-kentucky-kingdom-6016211
  16. The park was not awful in the terms of coasters in the 1990s. Now, well it is. The park is just so outdated. Ed Hart main concern isn't the waterpark. Kentucky Kingdom's waterpark right now is smaller then your average waterpark btw. I don't understand why there is so much talk about how great the waterpark is when there really isn't that many attractions inside of it. Before Ed Hart left the kingdom in 1997/1998 the waterpark had a wave pool, a kids area, a treehouse water attaction, a lazy river, and one slide complex with 4 water slides. The only thing Six Flags added was a Tornado waterslide and a Deluge Water Coaster. A Waterpark expansion is needed as you can see. After this expansion, Ed Hart said that he is going to start adding in brand new rides, reopening twisted twins, and most importantly, brand NEW coasters.
  17. Hart is also very tight-lip on what's NEW coming to the park. http://www.wlky.com/news/local-news/louisville-news/Hart-hopeful-Kentucky-Kingdom-will-open-in-2014/-/9718340/18511694/-/8k3j4sz/-/index.html?absolute=true
  18. http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20130212/NEWS01/302120046/Hart-says-he-fully-expects-reopen-Kentucky-Kingdom-schedule
  19. News tommorow on the current condition of the park. If Kentucky Kingdom was to reopen tomorrow for a grand reopening, how many people do you think would visit the park from then until the end of the season?
  20. Those are not thrill rides. Those are family rides. The local news reported that Hart was going to add in two MAJOR thrill rides. Back in the 1990s, Ed Hart always went BIG, Adding attractions you couldn't find anywhere else in our area. He's also always talking about competition as we all know. Do you think he's really going to put into a public RFP everything that's going to be done when it comes to new attractions? BTW, the old RFP has been taking off the kentucky kingdom website.
  21. As Lance was saying in today screamscape post, Kentucky Kingdom skyline IS damage. The only ride that is visible in the remaining skyline from several miles away is the Giant Wheel. Ed said he plans on adding in two thrill rides with the price tag of 1.5 million. And I'm sure he will ad in new rides that will dramatically change Kentucky Kingdom's skyline in several years. Do any of you believe the park could possibly add in a S&S drop tower? Or maybe even a Zamperla air race? Just speculating here just for fun. These are two rides Kentucky Kingdom would benefit from next year.

  23. I knew the open land was there but I did not realize the park could expand onto that land. Where did you obtain that info or is it just speculaton that the land could be used? Is that land owned by the Fair Board, also? Scroll down to the date 1/31/11 http://screamscape.com/html/kentucky_kingdom.htm The limit doesn't stop there. That was just speculated because that was the height of the Sky Coaster model that was at the park.
  24. The park has alot of land to expand, and a pretty decent amount of land the Six Flags didn't use. The parks height limit vary. At the front of the park theres a limit of what everyone believes it 200ft. Go towards Thunder Run and Twisted twins it vary from 100-70 feet.
