Did I mention Kings Dominion? No I did not. I would assume that Cedar Fair has been happy with Kings Dominion's attendance, and therefore not needed to make a huge capital investment to keep attendance afloat. The whole business about "playing favorites" is idiotic. Kings Dominion was pretty well stacked when it came to rides while parks like Carowinds and Canada's Wonderland were well behind for their market potential a few years ago. Now I'd say they are all closer to being on equal footing.

No wonder why valleyfair, Michigan adventure, and worlds of fun have are at the low tier, its because cedar fair doesn't wanna experiment each park. They do have potential, its just cedar fair is playing favorites.
Or they don't have the market to sustain growth? Sure the first year or two you'll see big jumps in attendance, but what about after?

My only question is, what would a TPR subreddit offer that the current TPR forum or /r/rollercoasters subreddit wouldn't? Is it just about expanding the reach?

I saw a lot of security guards walking around all over the park over the weekend. So they definitely aren't skimping on safety standards.

The medal detectors are just giving you a perception of safety. They don't actually make things safer. When's the last time you heard of a weapon being confiscated at an amusement park? If someone wanted to pull a Columbine and shoot everyone, it would be just as easy to do before you pass through medal detectors.
This is similar to people on Facebook saying they wish Fury had OSTR's because it would be safer.

Harmony Hall also opened yesterday, and was simply fantastic. Excellent addition. It's probably my favorite thing Cedar Fair has done for Carowinds other than Intimidator.

How concerned are you guys about our safety in Mexico? I assume that you have done your research to make sure we would be safe at all times. If you guys are not concerned than I see no reason for anyone else to be.
Unrelated, but Medusa South has always looked like an awesome CCI woodie to me, AND it got Topper Track this year. That alone might be enough to get me to go.

Finally registered! Can't wait for this event.
Perhaps I am a bit too forward thinking, but will there be a "TPR" hotel with a special group rate or anything?
Also I doubt this is the right place for this but I'm looking to go to La Ronde the Friday before the Bash. Anyone else from out of town like me planning a Montreal side-trip?

lmao.. pretty sure this is the first Brookhaven Exchange Club Park trip report on the site. I went the next to last day of the fair and was hoping I could get all the fame and glory of having the first TR, but congrats you beat me.
It is definitely a strange place, I really really liked it.

Disregard below, it's all too expensive for me right now. Maybe next year.
So yeah I still definitely want to do this, but on a shoestring budget if possible. Anyone coming from way out like me and want to split a hotel or a car? Any tips at all on trying to save money here would be welcomed.

Just wanted to say I really enjoyed your Frontier City pics as you don't see too many from there, and I am looking to go there sometime during the Labor Day weekend. My only question about how much time would you say you spent there?
Also loved the SDC report, I went there in 2005 and was amazed at the place, particularly all the similarities to Dollywood. How can you not love the cave?! Definitely one of the best parks in the country.
Look forward to seeing more...

Smaller than Millennium Force.. lots of turns. Not quite the out and back everyone is hoping for. I'm sure the KD fanboys will just call me a 'hater' since Carowinds is my home park.

I think this is just a case of sour grapes thinking its not fair for them to get a Hyper when their "Sister" park is getting a Giga.

It may be for some people, but I don't feel this way at all. I am fairly certain I know both layouts by now to some extent, and I am EXTREMELY happy that Carowinds is likely getting what they are over what KD is getting. I think once both are announced for sure, you might be seeing some bandwagon jumping.

FYI, the yellow "X-Works" coaster was gone when I went to the B&M track fabricators over the July 4th weekend.
As seen here only ONE coaster was there and here is its label..
Anything proved or disproved? Nope.

If you had clicked through to my post to another board you would have seen that I said the yellow coaster, which was the one marked X-WORKS is gone. Where? I don't know.
I know I sound like a 'fanboy' but I really think the track is going to Carowinds for their hyper, they been doing a ton of work to the former log flume area as well as the parking lot.. and all signs so far point to a large B&M.
Also the webmaster of Carowinds Connection had an interesting take on the customer name, but I would need to find more labels to confirm.

You *can* rent a car if you are under 25, it just costs a bit more. But all the rental car agencies are different, so check around.
