Sadly there isn't much around me with Lincoln Park and Rocky Point gone. The only park I have left to go to is Six Flags New England and Canobie Lake. The economy is really hurting everything. People don't want to travel anymore or spend alot of money. I am really bummed about Astroland. I've always wanted to go there!

I hope something can be done. I wish there was some way we could preserve these historic parks. I've never been to Coney Island though I have always wanted to go. I drive by the decayed remains of my childhood park which has been closed for 21 years. The coaster and remaining buildings are going to be demolished for housing. *rolls eyes*

Anymore news on when the rest of the park will be demolished? I drive by Lincoln Park everyday on my way to work and I cannot imagine not seeing the Comet standing there anymore. I went Monday and took lots of pictures because I was afraid I was never going to see it again when I heard September as the month for demolition. I'm going back again on Wednesday to take more photos. I wish there was some way to save that coaster. Yes, the lift hill is gone and the platform collapsed. Yes most of the paint is gone, but I couldn't believe how solid alot of the coaster was. Alot of that timber can be reused...I'd prefer to see it go to a coaster instead of a bon fire or something. I brought home some chips of paint, a small splinter of wood from the track and a big washer i found in the grass beneath the Comet.

It's been a year. I usually go to Six Flags New England to get on Superman, the Cyclone and the Thunderbolt as many times as I can in one day. Not this summer. I worked too much and by the time I started enjoying my summer it was the end of August.
