Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
Jcoaster replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I really hope it's not a B&M although all signs point towards it. If it does happen to be a B&M I hope it's a prototype instead of a Wing Rider or Flyer. B&M needs to starting pushing the envelope more, it seems like everything is cookie cutter these days. Yawn. -
Lake Compounce Discussion Thread
Jcoaster replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I love the charm and feel of Lake Compounce but this park is in desperate need of some sort of steel coaster. Something original seeing the only steel coaster here is a boomerang. I always say a Gerlauster Eurofighter fitting in well at the park. -
Earlier in the season rumors emerged of a new coaster out over the lake, possibly a RMC with an underwater tunnel and it got shot down by the state. So i'm guessing no new coaster? There has literally been no buzz since. I know the park has huge gaps to fill with flat rides, but I think it is almost time for a new coaster seeing the park's last original installation was Dark Knight.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
Jcoaster replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can't see King's Dominion getting a hyper at this stage in the game. The GP would look at it as a down grade, "OH we already have one taller then 230 feet, it can't possibly be as good." I could see the park getting a nice new B&M though, perhaps an Invert or Wing-Rider. -

^ And B&M didn't do that launch, Vekoma did. So this would be the first true B&M launch unless they get someone else to do it again for them. -

How are the lines for Fahrenheit these days? I haven't been there since 2009 and it was the longest line in the park, I'm guessing it's still the same due to capacity? -
Are Coaster Enthusiasts too critical?
Jcoaster replied to stricklandCC's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm critical of coaster enthusiasts that think they know everything about how parks are managed and operated, but in reality know absolutely nothing and just make themselves and the rest of enthusiasts as a whole, come across like complete and total idiots. ^ This. Alvey keeping it 100% real. I share the same sentiments. In reality, none of us know what really goes on or goes into parks behind closed doors. The best we can do is make an educated guess, some enthusiast try an turn pure speculation into absolute fact, and when their "fact" doesn't end up being correct.....Guess who looks stupid? -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
Jcoaster replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Me too. I knew the ride would be brutal (although it was even more intense) and sitting in the station made me feel anxious in a way I hadn't felt for a long time. It was the ride I had been looking forward to the most since the year it opened (well, only waited one year, really) and finally being there are realising the freedom the restraint gave me really build up the anticipation. I can't wait for next weekend, I too have been looking forward to this coaster since it has opened. It is so unique and I love a good intense, ass kicking ride. "Pain" doesn't really bother me considering I was a huge fan of GASM as SFGAdv. I can easily see this coaster catapulting itself into my top 5 coasters. -

Okay cool, cause people complain just as much about El Toro's restraints and it doesn't take away from the experience. I just wanted to clarify that lol. -

I'm headed to the park next weekend and i'm excited to see whats in store having not been there since 2009. I'm excited for SkyRush and despite all the negative comments I'm going in with great expectations. -
After visiting the park Wednesday and riding both Zumanjaro and Kingda Ka, I raised the question to my friends that Kinga Ka is getting noticeably rougher as time goes on. Which leads me to Ask how many years could you see it being around for? An what would happen to Zumi if that happened? Would they leave the supports of KK to make it a free standing drop tower? Or would they have to add to it?
-
Everyone take a deep breath and try to remember that there has been no official announcement yet. For all we know they could throw us for a loop and as mentioned before could add a duel station or new element to the design. Or they could throw us a curveball and the announcement could be something totally different .

I visited the park today too as seen in pervious posts. Overall it was a great day, getting to ride everything I wanted too. El Toro 1x, Bizzaro 2x, Kingda Ka 1x, Nitro 1x, Batman The Ride 1x and Zumanjaro 1x. All the coasters today were running great. I can see that they are hitting their mid-season stride in operations. Batman has been running tremendous this year, more so then I remember in past seasons. Did it get new wheels or anything? Now for Zumanjaro. If there was one word to describe this ride it would be, "Wow". I know some people have had some beef with this ride since its been installed, but I loved it. The whole experience was something new, got to see the park from a whole other perspective, not including the new views of El Toro. Intamin did a great job delivering on the ride experience because this drop tower easily launched itself into one of my favorites at the park.

We don't have to worry about SFA investing in a dark ride thag would be a waste of time. -

Indoor Drop Tower could be a possibility. -
As much as BGT is an "Africa"-themed park, it has a bunch of stuff that isn't African. I'm sure there are more, but the whole Jungala section isn't African (orangutans & tigers), plus you have the kangaroos & alligators, and then the elephants they have are Asian elephants--not African. Yea i've been there and noticed it while I was there. I hate to nitpick, live animals are one thing. Theming is another.

This sounds crazy at this point but they have a potentially great wood coaster capable of delivering ejector OMFG airtime in the front car on multiple hills (especially the top of the turnaround). Unfortunately they don't feel like taking care of it so now it has terrible lap bars and headrests, trims everywhere and it tracks terribly. Thunderhawk is absolutely 100% capable of being the best coaster in the entire park if they remove the brakes and invest some money in it. I know this sounds stupid because it's a brutal ride at this point but anyone who has ridden it after it was re-tracked when the brakes were off will probably agree with me... especially if they sat near the front of the train. If they can't take care of 1 wood coaster the last thing they need is another one. Hey dude, I love classic woodies and had a blast on ThunderHawk. Yes a little TLC to restore it to its former glory would be nice. But consider yourself lucky your park still has a classic woodie. I'm spoiled with the Coney Island Cyclone being my classic wooden coaster, but my other frequented park (Great Adventure) removed our only classic woodie which many considered busted up. I can tell you, I miss it already. You don't know what you got till its gone.

^ A Sky Screamer would be a great addition to the SFA skyline.
