Motel 6(about 4-5 miles from the park) is under $40 a night. http://www.motel6.com/accormaps/M6ProximityResults.aspx?state=OH I have stayed there a few time. It's not the ritz, but it's a clean bed if that's all your looking for. -

I agree^^ But you also have to look at hulk at UIA. It is a launched coaster(the launch part was done with another company), and there have been no issues with it. It's as smooth as any other B&M coaster ever built. So it can be done. The question I guess is "why not"? -

Why is B&M so opposed to jumping on the launched coaster wagon? -

I was only at kings island in the spring and fall, but do they still do the flower clock anymore? I always thought that was cool. What do you guys(and girls), think kings island would replace sob with? A steel, or wood? The reason I ask, is because they have 3 woodies now, and ceder fair tends to lean tourds steel coasters. The exception being prowler and renegade of course. -
I agree, but at first I was puzzled but the decision. I hope this does not effect the pop sales. A lot of people go to this park just for leap the dips and the skyliner. Now, people may be more inclined to purchase just enough tickets for the two coasters instead of the pop, thus spending less money and time in the park. I hope to see this coaster live on for a long time, and I am happy that I had the opportunity to ride it.

I just got a email regarding why leap the dips(oldest operating coaster in the world) is now not included in the pop wrist band. It will now cost you $2.50 per ride. Here is the email..... "Please be aware that it was with much regret that we were left with no choice but to make the Leap The Dips an "extra pay attraction". For the past number of years, the Leap The Dips has incurred start up costs that are twenty (20) times greater than the Skyliner roller coaster. The Leap The Dips simply was not built or designed to take the volume of riders that it attracts, especially on our promotional days. We were left with no choice but to attempt to limit the number of riders and or to charge a fee to ride the coaster. If we would not take this step, it would be very likely that the Leap The Dips would not be available for anyone to ride in the very near future. In an attempt to offset the disappointment of this ride now being an extra pay attraction, each rider will receive a VERY NICE keepsake ticket. We appreciate your patronage and if you should have any further questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me." Sincerely, Barry Kumpf General Manager

Do they even need flash pass at this park? Every time I have been there, the coasters were a walk on or very short wait. I don't see them making a ton of cash off of this. I thought this park had a weird layout. The "main street" area of the park, was one of the best that I have seen at any park. But once you cross into gotham(sp) city, it had a really sparse layout. The batwing coaster looked like they plopped it down in a field. And the slc was the worst I have ever been on. There were a few good things in this park though. I really like superman and jokers jinx. Wild one was great as well. Skull mountain was really cool. I like how they were playing potc theme song in the tunnels. The western show was a blast as well. They also seemed to be keeping the place clean, or it may have been that the park was almost empty. I am not sure what it is, but this park seems to be missing something. I have to be honest and say that this is now my least favorite six flags park now that kentucky kingdom is gone.

Not only that, but what are the cost's involved with a retro fit? They would have to redo all of the supports and footers, rip out the current track and replace it with new track, and buy new trains. I think they should just cut there losses at this time, and start from scratch. They have already dumped a ton of money into this nightmare of a ride. How much more would they have to dump into it to make it tolerable? Even if they did get it running again, could you imagine the liability and the cost's with the insurance company? The ride has a pretty lame layout as well as being too big for a wooden coaster. There have really been some great wood coasters built in the past few years. I would love to see one replace sob. How awsome would it be if they tore it down and built a brand spanking new intiman plug and play?(One can dream) Just my 2 cents. -

Great pictures. Does anyone know where or if there are coupons for platinum passes for kings island? We are heading down there this weekend, and it's gonna cost the 3(2 adults and a jr) of us over $400 for passes. I know they have the buy 4 get $10 off deal, but we only need 3 passes. -

Even if they could re-do son of beast, is the layout that exciting anyways? I agree that a beemer invert would be a great thing for kings island. I think Kings Island is the only ex paramount(sp) park that does not have one. -

I wonder what they are going to do with that big empty walkway that is between stunt coaster and diamondback? Lots of room for a coaster or a few twirl and hurl rides. -
Screamscape just reported that pleasure Island in the UK, has closed. Employies showed up for work the other day, just to be greeted by locked gates and termination notices. Here is a link to a news story.... http://www.thisisgrimsby.co.uk/news/Pleasure-Island-closed/article-2017024-detail/article.html

It's a nice park, but if your going JUST for the coasters, you may be a little bummed. The comet is a nice coaster, but other than that, coasterwise there is not too much. There were a few nice flats, and the log ride is nice as well. I also like how the park has tons of trees still. -
