  1. Yes. It was hiding in the (not exaggerating) 32 consecutive posts discussing it immediately before your post. What I meant was if I missed the quoted announcement from their website. I can read that there is a bunch of talk about the ride already on the 32 posts. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  2. I don't know if I missed this anywhere on this thread but this was on Dollywood River Battles page. "As the Dollywood experience evolves, we always look for new ways to entertain families and help them create memories they will share for a lifetime. In looking to the future, we have a number of unique and innovative ideas designed to help your family create new traditions and share special moments at Dollywood. To prepare the park for these opportunities, River Battle will be removed at the conclusion of the summer. The ride’s final day of operation is Sept. 4. We look forward to sharing the news about our next project later this year. Please enjoy all of Dollywood’s other award-winning rides and attractions." http://www.dollywood.com/themepark/Rides/River-Battle Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

  4. Has there been any new official news on what ride will be closing? I heard from a few operator hosts a ride, but do not know if I can post it on here without getting in trouble. But I can say make sure you ride all the water rides before Labor day! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

  11. 2nd part of the media tour for opening day. Dollywood's marketing team talked about the new festivals and programs coming up in 2017. Especially the Illuminights! Very exciting! Craig Ross spoke about Dollywood and the economical impact the park has on the economy of Sevier County and East Tennessee. He said they were way ahead of projections of their impacts. Next stop was lunch at the new Front Porch Cafe (Former Backstage Restaurant). We were treated to a nice salad, sandwich and desert. This was well presented and tasted fabulous. Well done Dollywood Food's team!!! Be sure to stop by Front Porch Cafe and give them a try! Dollywood Provided Economic Impact Graphic - Very interesting! Next stop was a quick tour of the Drop Line / Whistle Punk Chaser attractions. While we were getting started, there was a medical emergency with a member of the tour group. Dollywood's staff was quick to jump in and assist the gentleman. Amazing job by the team!! 230ft in the sky. This should make a very nice view of the smokies! Whistle Punk Chaser coming along in the former playground area. These 2 new attractions should bring a nice change to this area. Some more Drop line goodness. Some nice new paint! Lye Soap is back, next to the glass shop! During the Media Trip Report I mentioned the Blown Glass shop was expanding, well here is the final product! Looking good! Lightning Rod was down most of the morning, finally opening around 5pm. I was able to ride the back and front seat! What a great, wild ride! After that we walked down Craftsmans Valley to view some of the updates that have happened. Not clearly visible in this photo, but it appears they have added more lighting to the valley. Some Mystery Mine love! Sideshow Spin is gone. They have created a more open space to help ease the traffic in this area while creating a nice park like setting with additional seating! It was a nice change. New artificial turf was added around Country Fair area. The arcade in the tunnel was closed No cranes during this walk through. I had to pass on the festival food, even though I didn't want to! It smelled delicious. Some of the new theme to Timber Canyon. Timber Canyon They have opened up the area alot. This area is where the old rain maker show was. It is now home to what appears to be an area where kids can play in a make shift, bucket/pan band. Pretty cute idea. New props The grave yard is back and better Thunderhead love! More theme. The walk to Timber Canyon is much better now. Wider path, more theme/props and more lighting. Lastly, one last show. Thank you Dollywood for a great day. If this day was any clue how 2017 will be, you all will have a fantastic year! Thank you for inviting us to be your guest for the day, we really enjoy it. The Craftsman's area of the Mountain Blown Glass!
  12. Below are photos from the Dollywood Opening Day Media Tour. I hope you all enjoy them. It was a faboulous day with great shows, good running rides, a little cold but a lot of great experiences. I do apologize for the delay in posting this. I have been sick, wife and kids extremely sick as well as other family emergencies. Basically one thing after another. Never the less, I hope you enjoy and please let me know if you have any question... enjoy - David Good morning Dollywood, this was the 1st sight I saw when I pulled into the parking lot. What a very nice surprise. It was said they topped it off the day before opening day. 2017 Park Map Showstreet was looking good as always Welcome to Festival of Nations! Our 1st stop was the Mother Africa show at the Celebrity Theater. I will honestly say, I wasn't quite sure about this show before it started but after... WOW!! Cast members warming up! This show was absolutely amazing! I will definitely be back to see it with the family. There is something for everyone in it! Well done Dollywood. After the show, we were offered a Q and A with the performers of Mother Africa.
  13. It's hard to believe it is already time for Dollywood to reopen. I look forward to seeing the completed changes as well as the improved Festival of Nations. Should be a good time!
  14. They are aiming at the end of May to open the 2 Dollywood attractions. Splash Country's slide will open with Splash.
  15. Last stop was a very short trip to Splash Country Mike Brown talked briefly about the Tailspin Racers coming to Splash in 2017. He said it was around a 2.2 million dollar expansion. Welcome to Splash Country! Footers for the new ride
  16. Part 2 Dollywood Media Tour GLASS SHOP: Our next stop was the Rainbow Glass shop. During this off season, they have been hard at work, as you can see from the pictures. They are reconfiguring the craftsmen's area to be able to accommodate two craftsmen at one. So as I understand it, it means TWO glory holes! The area that you see built off the side of it is a new, bigger area to blow your own glass, which will be pretty cool. They are also redoing the retail space of the business due to how dated the interior was prior. The cost of this renovation is around $300,000.00. Lastly, the name of Rainbow Glass will be changed in 2017 to Mountain Blown Glass. TIMBER CANYON: A very nice modification coming to Timber Canyon in 2017 is the widened and partial straightening of the walkway leading up to Timber Canyon. This should help a lot during the busy summer months. They will also be adding better lighting, sound and theming to this path as well. THUNDER HEAD: Thunderhead received a new coat of paint on the main ride buildings. They are going with a green theme instead of the red to change it up a little. LUMBER JACK PIZZA: This restaurant is undergoing a big renovation to help with moving guests through the line and better service. They will no longer carry the giant pizzas. They will be adding 4 freestyle soda fountains, like the did in Red's last year, adding more POS Stations and reconfiguring the serving area. We shall see! Now, probably what most are looking for... WHISTLE PUNK CHASER: This junior coaster will be located in the area between Thunderhead and Drop Line. It takes the space previously help by the children's playground and water areas. They were staking off for footers when we were there. (see pics below) I got as many pics as I could without getting in trouble in that area. PROJECTED OPENING IS END OF MAY. DROP LINE: Drop line will be a 230ft Drop tower located in the space previously occupied by EVERYTHING from picnic tables, a Christmas tree, a crazy night show and the long gone Timber Tower. The existing q-line is expected to be used for this new ride. This ride will give you amazing views of the Great Smoky Mountains. PROJECTED OPENING IS END OF MAY. SPLASH COUNTRY UPDATED NEXT. New addition to Glass Blowing Shop Working on the retail. Now people can walk 6 across You can see the new paint. Future home of DROP LINE Some Mystery Mine love! Marking off for footers!
  17. On 2/9/2017 Dollywood hosted us for the 2017 Media Construction tour. It was a gloomy day at the park with temperatures really never getting above 40 and having rain and snow. But is was a very good day. Before we entered the park, the Dollywood team talked shortly about some of the side projects they were completing this year, including a new HR building, redoing the front gate restrooms as well as many new AC units and roofing, as well as a lot of painting. Did you know Dollywood uses approximately 20,000 of paint a year! We started our day with a tour of the former Backstage Restaurant. This restaurant has been gutten and is receiving a complete transformation to a new theme called "Front Porch Café". It will replace the former movie theme with a new, brighter country theme. Representatives at Dollywood say it will have a new menu with some of the popular items returning as well. It looks like it will be a very nice change for the area. Next Stop the Glass blowing shop... Welcome to a day at Dollywood for the 2017 Media Construction Tour Tickets anyone? We started our tour off with rain and snow and at about 34 degrees. Goodbye Backstage! Dollywood's team hard at work on the transformation. The new logo for the Front Porch Café! Our 1st stop was the former Backstage Restaurant. This restaurant will now be called Front Porch Café. Dollywood is transforming this location from the former movie theme to a new country themed restaurant. It will feature a new menu with some of the old favorites returning. As we were walking to our next location, the glass blowers, I figured I'd snap a pic of Lightning Rod.
  18. All the lights were done by us, the fury crew. David came up with the idea and planned it out. There is a total of 4,320 lights in the entire ride this year, we are hoping to do it again next year if given the chance. Be sure to come by and see them if you get a chance, Blazing Fury is open till January 2nd 2010
  19. Yep! Thats me from the fury! lol Nice to meet you too.
