  1. Bobsled coasters sound fun to ride. I've never been on one yet, I hope some day I get to. Thank you for the info. I've never seen one in person, seen the track or been on one. I've only been to a few parks and carnivals. I thought bobsleds was like flying turns, a GCI, which is supposed to be a bobsled coaster. Still looks fun though. Forgive me, my typing is not that great. ADMIN EDIT: Combined triple post, quotation and formatting errors. -Colin
  2. I like how they converted that wood tracked coaster into a bobsled. It is so cool what these parks can do with the rides. I've always been interested in how rides work.
  3. I hate to see all these coasters gone. Whalom Park was not much for some people, but I have many good memories there. When I was a kid my aunt would take me and my cousins there just about every weekend in the summer. I've seen some photos of coasters that have been put in this topic, they look cool. Too bad, I'll never get a chance to ride them. I'm a roller coaster addict,I get a rush from them.
  4. The Flyer Comet at Whalom park in Lunenburg Ma. The Black Widow at Riverside now called SFNE in Agawam Ma.
  5. This really saddens me to see all these roller coasters being destroyed, a real heart breaker. My first wooden roller coaster I rode was the Flyer Comet at Whalom Park. The whole park was torn down last year just to make room for some stupid condos. The flyer Comet was my favorite ride there, I rode it constantly. My aunt used to take me and my cousins there many times every season. That park was around for over a hundred years in Lunenburg, Ma. on Lake Whalom. Flyer Comet was built by Philadelphia Toboggan Company, in 1939 I believe. I cried when I found out that Flyer Comet and the park were gone, it was just as bad as losing someone I love. I will cherish the good memories in my heart forever. railcarbuffvlm
  6. Hello, It's nice to see more people joining TPR, this is my first time being a member of anything online. It's cool getting to read the forums about rides and other things. railcarbuffvlm
  7. I've been wanting to know what Cedar Point is like. How are the woodies over there,I've only been to Ohio a couple of times.Robb speaking of woodies what's up with Evel Knievel at Six Flags St. Luois? There has not been any photos since last month, does the tpr site have any? railcarbuffvlm(val)
  8. Thanks for the reminder Robb, I get forgetful sometimes. Hi Allen, what roller coasters have you been on? I forgot to reply back to you. I'm fat too, I hope I can still ride a roller coaster. Me and my roommates have been working on the house,so I haven't been too board. One thing I should have said when I introduced myself is that I am female, and donkeys cool. One of my dreams is to get a tour of a wooden coaster, and also to meet the builders. I would have gave anything to see Renegade at Valleyfair the way TPR did. I would be very greatful to have a tour of Evel Knievel at Six Flags St. Louis with TPR and GCI. This coaster will be my first GCI, so I can't wait to see it. I'm always ready to try a new roller coaster. I know I sound like a geek,oh well ha ha. railcarbuffvlm(val)
  9. Hello, i'm railcarbuffvlm(aka val) I live in Mattoon, IL, and I am close to Six Flags St. Louis about an hour or so drive. There is also Six Flags Great America, but it is really far from me. I would have to spend the night in Gurnee. I'm planning on going to Six Flags St. Louis this summer when Evel Knievel opens. In 2006 a park called Whalom Park was demolished and it broke my heart. I grew up near Luneburg, Ma. where the park was located. As a child my first wooden roller coaster was the Flyer Comet in this park. I went there every summer,I also went to riverside park now called SFNE. I went on the Cyclone which scared me to death! Then I went on the Thunderbolt I got hooked on roller coasters after that. I also went to Canobie Lake Park, and rode the Yankee Cannonball. I love the rush you get, while you ride. Wooden coasters are my most favorite, but I will also ride steel coasters too. I rode Kumba in Busch Gardens Tampa,Alpengiest Busch Gardens Williamsberg,Va. As an adult I don't get to go to many parks as I did when I was a child.I still enjoy roller coasters, it's just a matter of getting friends together who want to go to an amusement park. Most of the friends I have are really busy doing other things or they are too scared of roller coasters. I managed to talk some of friends into going to Six Flags St. Louis as said earlier. If anyone wants to respond or chat you can email me at railcarbuffvlm2@yahoo.com. I'm pretty board to death sometimes so feel free. Happy Holidays, railcarbuffvlm(val)
