  1. I remember Day of Silence from when I was in High School. I never really thought it did any good, to be honest. I think the best way to get people to understand different lifestyles is to talk. I know that its really hard for some people because of where they live or go to school, but discussions are the only way that other people will learn. And on a side note, I'm not sure that High School's should be doing Day of Silence anyway. Too many things in High School become fads and loose their meaning. I know of some people that jumped from straight, to bi, to gay, and back around multiple times just so they could "fit in". And that isn't some blanketed sweep of the gay/ bi community, there really are some teens who, depending on the group they are with, change their orientation just to fit in or be different or whatever.
  2. Persona 3 FES for PS2. If anyone else has played it, drop me a line.
  3. I happened to enjoy Indy myself, although I will be the first to admit that it is different from the first three films. Although I hear a lot of people saying how "weird" the movie was and I think, "Were the first three movies not weird?" People getting their faces exploded, Eternal life from a cup, People getting their hearts ripped out of their chests for ritual sacrifice and living? But I digress. I think that the whole legend mixed with the supernatural formula has worked very well for these movies, even if that comes in the form of alien skulls.
  4. Man, both Kong's are gone now. The only one left is the neon Kong sign at City Walk. Really makes you wonder what kind of an attraction is going to replace it. Really glad that no one was hurt, and that the clock tower is ok, big sigh of relief there. Kudos to the Men and Women of the LAFD for putting the fire out.
  5. I want to visit Japan so bad. I really hope to go someday, especially so I can see those cool ToT effects myself! Oh, and get me some of that popcorn. Don't they have flavors like, strawberry and apple?
  6. I really have to thank everyone again. I never thought I would get so many responses! Thank you for all your help, my girlfriend and I are already talking about the solutions posted and we will for sure be ready for out next trip. Thanks!
  7. I don't think the fact it is an Inverted coaster changes anything, G forces are G forces no matter what sort of coaster you are riding. As you said Top Gun caused no problems but Batman did. I think it just came down to bad luck that she felt bad after riding Batman. If it had happened on Scream, would you steer clear of Floorless coasters? Well it was pretty scary when it happened so we just figured that we would skip inverted coasters until we could figure out the problem. So, if we went on Scream and the same thing happened, then yes we would stay away probably. The point is, all we knew is that she was fine on everything else, then we got on the inverted and all that stuff happened. until we knew what the reason was, we figured it was a safe bet to not ride inverteds until we knew what it was that was causing this whole thing.
  8. Hey thanks for all the suggestions. We do try now to stay away from the inverted coasters and I was just concerned if it was really the ride or whatever. Though I do believe that we should go to the doctor, at the very latest, before we go on our next big theme park trip.
  9. Hey all you TPR members out there! Now I don't know if there are any doctors or medical people out there in the forums but I figure this is the best place for me to get some answers. My girlfriend and I love theme parks and roller coasters. Neither of us have a medical problem or anything that might prevent us from riding. However, for some reason, my girlfriend can't handle inverted coasters. The last time we went on an inverted coaster (Batman at SFMM) she got dizzy and couldn't stay standing so she got transported to first aid. After getting checked out, the doctor or nurse or whatever his medical degree was, said that the reason might have been dehydration or lack of food. We have been on Top Gun at Great America (formerly Paramounts) and had no problems. So my question is. . Is this brought on by lack of food/water, is this more of a intensity thing, or could this be brought on by some kind of medical condition we don't know about?
  10. Wow this looks like loads of fun to go to. I like the ferris wheel lift hill idea, as long as it works well with the theming of the ride. I like the idea of making a life hill more interesting. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with a standard lift hill, but I think that there could be so much more. It's the one part of a coaster that doesn't see too much innovation. I loved those theme creatures, I hope to see something like that used at a park in the future.
  11. Man that thing looked insane! I like the swerving in and out of the structure bits. My only problem with wooden coasters is that some of them aren't exactly made for some of us bigger folk. Can you say, "tight fit"?
  12. that actually doesn't look half bad. Lets hope that the real thing turns out that good looking. I too was worried about removing the iconic Mickey head, but seeing its possible replacement, I think that it will look just as good if thats what they go with.
  13. whoa whoa whoa. Utter crap? I will be the first to admit that DCA could use some improvements and that DCA didn't open as strong as it probably should have, but calling the park crap is a bit harsh. There are plenty of worse parks out there and while DCA isn't the absolute best in the world, it is far from crap.
  14. Well said. Personally, now that I know the park will be fixed, I have absolutely no reason to scrutinize it anymore. Not that I ever disliked the park, but I always thought there was just way too much room in between attractions, and then an explosion of rides in the back of the park. It really made no sense. However, with the removal of Condor Flats, and with the addition of Carsland and Little Mermaid, the dead space between rides will be significantly reduced. I have a massive souvineer map of the park durring its first season. I think its apreaceating in value every second... wait wait wait. They are getting rid of Condor Flats? I love that section of the park! They aren't taking Soarin out are they? I thought the original report said that both Soarin and Condor Flats were staying.
  15. I'm not sure you can compare DCA to a ghetto fair. I at least feel safe at DCA . Now, I haven't been to the WDW ToT but I don't see how the DCA ToT is a dud. I know the WDW has more drops but to say DCA ToT is a dud...just seems cruel lol.
  16. Well, at least the Trolley's will serve more of a purpose. I do agree that they add a little atmosphere to the area, even if the ones on Main Street don't serve much of a purpose.
  17. Ya know, all this talk of the re-hashing of rides has me a little concerned. I don't want to think that Disney's Imagineers have run out of ideas but sometimes it looks that way. I am hoping that there will be some more originality brought to DCA in the future. Now, about the entrance. I have mixed feelings about the whole new entrance thing. While the new entrance looks nice and promising I don't know if I like the idea if getting rid of the letters or the Golden Gate. I agree with ComplexAudio99, I have pictures of family and friends in front of those letters and the bridge. They were icons of the park and I am going to miss them. I wonder if the trolleys are necessary? People aren't that lazy that they need a trolley to get to the end of a Main Street style entrance? Disney Land's main street isn't even that long that I need some kind of car to drive me across. Maybe I am wrong, perhaps the trolleys are there to ride for fun, but even then I'm not sure I would exactly run to the nearest station to hop on. But I guess we will have to wait and see how this whole thing turns out, I can't wait to see it and I hope it does the park some good.
  18. I personally like DCA. While Disneyland is more enjoyable and probably more "magical", DCA has a kind of unique feel to it. Having said that, I also think that the park really needs this. Although I do agree that they seem to be adding a lot of dark rides. I enjoy a good dark ride as much as the next person but they might be going a tad overboard with all the dark rides. Gimme a new E ticket ride over 2 or 3 dark rides any day. I am looking forward to seeing what they do with the park, maybe this is the first step towards turning DCA into the park that it should have been when it opened.
  19. Hi everybody, I'm Dustin, I'm 19 and I live in Sacramento CA. I am a self proclaimed uber nerd, and darn proud of it. I live about an hour-ish away from Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and I am a full time student. I have only been on about 24 coasters so I am quite the coaster newbie, but that will soon change...hopefully. I will try my best to be a regular poster but school just sucks away my personal life...stupid history prof....
