I don't see them tearing down the arena anytime soon. That building still gets alot of use. -

rob, I do believe it's going to be a Griffon clone, only it will be inverted and tire launched. -

The frequent faller isn't getting built. The fact that they are not announcing the new ride until 2011 tells me that this ride i going to take some considerable time to build. I do think a drop tower for next year is fathomable. -

That is a good potential layout, but remember they said it would interact with a man made pond. They didn't say they would build the pond for the ride. It may already exist. Go to google maps and check out the man made pond to the west of this pic to see what I mean. Here is a link http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=hershey+pa&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=29.358024,98.525391&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Hershey,+Dauphin,+Pennsylvania&ll=40.285075,-76.660988&spn=0.006891,0.024054&t=h&z=16 Of course, this is all just speculation at the moment -

Sorry I didn't get over here and post that the marker I found turned out to be a twig with a flag on it, albeit the same type of flag used on the markers along the creek. I didn't have my glasses with me and I only realized it was a stick after I posted the pic and zoomed in on it. -

I just returned from a great day at the Hersheypark. Storm runner was up and running, and the launch was smooth. I walked along the outer fence of the park where comet and looper are located. I saw many markers along the creek, as have been reported before, but I also found something interesting. Where these markers end, if you look directly across the street from the fence towards the old golf course, there is a marker in the field directly to the right of the employee parking lot. This field is to the left of the light house structure that was part of the former hershey pool......very interesting. I snapped a photo of it, albeit it was fuzzy because I had to use my digital zoom. The property was marked no trespassing so I had no other way of getting closer. I will post the image soon. In the meantime, here is the location of the marker I found. "X" marks the spot. disclaimer----The image I am using was obtained from the news pulse notes website -

Very good point. Back to back coasters with vertical drops is not something any theme park would do. I believe this ride will hug the terrain very well. -

This is interesting they can kind of post date the construction plans. It's actually really good idea, and keeps their butts out of trouble I have to wonder though if they are actually trying to throw people off with the "we want to tell people soon" spiel. If what my sources tell me are true, it's going to take a while to clear some land for this ride as well as make the necessary engineering changes to existing rides, hence the 2012 launch date. -

If this turns out to be a 2011 attraction, no one will be more surprised than I. I have have a feeling that they possibly will introduce an attraction for 2011, perhaps a 212 ft drop tower? Bwahahahahaha. I still say coaster 2012 I laughed out loud when I read this. I was wondering how long it was going to take for someone to say this. -

I stand corrected on the tilt a whirl dates. Hersheypark.com states it was installed in 1983. I don't ever remember it being in carousel circle. It looks very new. They maintain it meticulously. There is definitely a coaster going in comet hollow in 2012. Most people consider this pure speculation, and I can understand that some may be skeptical. If I said "I assure you", most wouldn't believe me. But I'm going to go out on a limb again and say no rides will be removed. a new coaster in comet hollow will be installed by 2012 and it will more than likely go towards the old golf course behind chocolate world. The new coaster may or may not actually travel through the structure of the comet. The coaster will be in excess of 200 ft. Tilt a whirl will be relocated to another area of the park. -

I don't think they will remove the tilt-a-whirl. It's a popular ride and it's only about 10 years old at the most. I belive they will relocate it to a different part of the park. The reason for that is the close proximity to the new ride and comet. They'll need the room for supports, station area etc. -

I agree. New slides would be a nice improvement and add capacity considering the popularity of the Boardwalk. I believe the supports at the boardwalk actually have areas where additional water slides could be installed, like they were pre-fabricated with the intention of adding the waterslides at a later date. They, unfortunately, have a water coaster called Roller Soaker. It's kind of an interactive suspended coaster. People on the ground shooting water guns at you, and you have the ability of dropping water bombs on them. I actually have never had the desire or want to ride the contraption. Give me Storm Runner and Fahrenheit any day. -

There is also discussion about Hershey adding a new attraction or 2 for next year. Some think a new water slide or two could be added to the boardwalk, or possibly that drop tower everyone has been talking about for years. That is still up in the air also. That would make sense since Hershey added nothing to the park this year. Also, be on the lookout for the tilt-a-whirl finding a new home somewhere in the park. -

Thanks for the defense. I know I don't post here much, but when I do, it's for good reason. I keep track of what is going on on the board. I have been visiting Hershey Park for over 20 years and have tons of contacts within HERCO and the school that owns it. The next ride at Hershey will be a major investment, and according to certain individuals familiar with the project it's going to be made and I quote "By the same guys who made Storm Runner". We all know Hershey's relationship with Intamin is very good, and it shouldn't surprise anyone that they would use them again. Anything that I post here can change, since this project is still in the planning stages. As I hear little birdies talk, I will chirp it back to you. I admit, I'm a true HP fanboy, but with -

As I mentioned before, it will be an Intamin Hyper or bigger, going along the creek towards the old golf course. They are planning to have the ride actually go through the structure of the comet, but that is still in the planning stages and could be scrapped. -

Anything is possible at this point in regards to the placement of supports or the final track layout. From what I understand the goal is to go through Comet an out to the old golf course behind the park and Chocolate World. Only time will tell. -

I pretty sure it's going to be a hyper by intamin. There are no rides being removed, although the tilt-a-whirl will probably find a new home somewhere else in the park. -

Relax guys. The Comet is not being removed. The new coaster may go THROUGH the Comet. (Think Phantoms Revenge). This is not set in stone yet. The coaster will probably be installed in 2012 because the engineering required to modify Comet will take that long to complete. But , please, this is only in the planning stages. This could change. -
The course is already closed. When HERCO bought it, they closed it immediately paved over some of it to make additional parking. The "former" golf course is ready to be developed. There have been several township meetings in recent past about rerouting some of the roads in the area, that includes removing the road the travels behind the park and chocolate world where the Old original pool used to be, allowing pedestrians access to the new expansion area
