Long time site lurker. I just had to say those picts of Astroworld are amazing! I grew up there and I miss that park so much!

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't XLR8 at Astroworld installed at about the same time as the Bat and the first suspended? I really liked XLR8, it was a nice relaxing ride. I especially liked it when they reversed the back half of the train. I used to ride in the back car with my eyes closed. I had a chance to ride the one at SFMM a few years ago and I loved how the train weaved in and out of the trees and up and down the hills. I thought having the lift hill at the end of the ride was unique also.

I got around 15 or so rides in this evening, and it was cold! Well... cold for Houston. There was practically no line so we did not have to wait at all, in fact we never had to get out of our seats on a couple rides. I'm not sure what to make of the "new" Bullet. It is different in some spots and certain seats. Over all I would have to say that it is smoother and a better ride. That brutal section right after the first drop is so much smoother now and other spots seemed a little less intense. The front car was especially a whole lot smoother. However the middle, back, and for some reason the second car were kind of rough not unlike it used to be. I think it all depends on what seat your in and what you like in a coaster. I did get a few "floaters" on a few runs. At any rate I would highly recommend heading down and having a "cold one"! The Bullet is back

It was open last night. I got eight rides in. But it was cold. That cold wind in my face felt exilerating!

I just got back and I got 8 rides in. The place was dead tonight and it was cold! Well not freezing but cold for this area. I mistakenly wore shorts and a t-shirt. Most of my rides only had a few people on them. However I did get one ride in were the train was full but oddly that was one of the roughest! I guese because I was in the very back seat. I had forgotten how rough it can be. On most of my rides I didn't even get out of my seat. All in all it was a good night. The weather was nice, albeit chilly, and on the bay side there was a beautifull full moon and on the other side, a beautiful sunset!

I always hode my hand up on rides. And I have made several rounds on the Bullet with my hands up the whole time. It can be hard but fun. Why, I don't know, it just is.

I sounds like it is safe for now but I really hope the Cyclone is saved so that future generations can ride it. It is a piece of history. I would be such a loss. These developers make me mad

Yes it is! That first drop is insane! That is were, while holding my arms up, I slammed my side up against the side of the car which bruised my rib At least I think that is what happened.

The first weekend it was open I bruised my rib also. It was sore for at least two weeks. But I still love it it

I've ridden the Bullet at least seven or eight times in a row. Its not that bad. There was several times were I did not even get out of my seat or if I did, it was to change seats.

So... what is the word? Is it going to be open?

Yep... Houston sucks. The 'ol Astrodome used to offer tours but I don't know if they still do. There is always the haunted housees to go to.

Amen. It is running great, the staff are great, so just sit back lower the seat bar and enjoy! We finally got ourselfs a world class coaster!

My left side rib is sore! But my neck and everything else is fine. It is really not that rough, the front car is actually pretty smooth.

The smaller footprint made for a better ride in my opinion. Had the homeowners sold and left Kemah and the designers with acres to work with, the Bullet may have ended up as a run of the mill woodie. My favorite part though is the second drop.

The reporter says "now that Astroworld is closed the Bullet is one of Houston's biggest roller coasters". I just have one question, I want to know were the other ones are at? And you gotta love that headline "Noisy new attraction makes poor neighbor". Typical news media spin. If something such as a new gas station had been built it would have read "new gas station praised by locals and visitors as wonderful!" And I'm glad the Killions did not sell which left Kemah with a smaller space. That ultimately led to a better coaster!

That guy preaching on the amplified system standing on the milk crate was back?? Yep. He was there. There seemed to be a rather large foreign crowd there tonight.

I was out there for a little bit this evening and I saw one of the longest lines I have seen yet. Also I believe they might have been only running one train. The time in between rides seemed unusually long. The guy at the daiquiri booth said they had problems earlier in the day with one of the brakes. But this was the daiquiri stand guy so.... who knows. I wasn't feeling to inquisitive, I decide just to watch and not ride. Coasterphotos might be able to confirm the one train operation. I'll go back later during the week when it hopefully rains and I'm the only one there and I have it all to myself.

A nice light rain with NO lightning would be perfect! But I doubt I can make it out today. I got my fix last night though. And on one of the rides last night it was sprinkling a bit which made for an awesome ride!

I rode about ten times yesterday and three on Friday (I was the one wearing the blue Taz Astroworld shirt) and my back kinda aches today also! So does my left side were I got banged up against the side of the car. But all in all, it was really not that bad. It was more of a "smooth rough". The kind I love! That story was great texcoaster. That was a class act on ya'lls part. Kudos! And kudos to the kid who survived his first coaster!

I agree. Riding the back car over and over can be tough and the walk back can give you time to recuperate. Actually I liked the right seats better. I have a nice sore spot from yesterday when I banged up against the side of the left seat on the bottom of the first drop. It was one of my first rides and caught me off gaurd.
