  1. Because the Pleasure Beach have a night time ban on the PMBO due to environmental factors - eg: There are a lot of guest houses/ homes nearby (people need to sleep). This is enforced from something like eleven thirty at night time until nine thirty in the morning (not so sure on exact times, but it is something like that). Also I guess he just pees on the break time he gets. Part of the rules are that he can accumulate five minutes break from riding for every hour that he rides. He is allowed to save these up if he wishes - say he rides 10 hours, he can have a full 50 min break all at once, which I suppose is good for his sanity. Hope this answers your questions.
  2. "Richard Rodriguez officially kicked off his 18th rollercoaster marathon Guinness World Record attempt on the Pepsi Max Big One at Pleasure Beach, Blackpool on Friday 27th July at 9.00am. Amazingly, rollercoaster marathon veteran Richard, 48, will eat, drink and sleep on rollercoasters for the foreseeable future as he takes on the ultimate endurance test. In accordance with stringent Guinness guidelines, Richard will accumulate 5 minutes respite for every full hour ridden to allow him to change clothes, shower, have a hot meal and transfer onto the Big Dipper for night time riding. There’s an added twist to this unique record attempt – Richard will be going head to head with 2 challengers at Freizeitland Gieselwind park in Germany to reclaim the record he has held for nearly 30 years. German Frank Rossler, known as ‘The Benjinator’, clinched the title last year by staying on the Boomerang coaster at Freizeitland for a total of 9 days and 12 hours, after a change in Guinness guidelines meant Richard’s previous endurance records were no longer recognised. The Benjinator will be attempting to break his own record on Boomerang once again as Richard rides the Big One. But American Richard is confident he can beat The Benjinator and his sidekick Stefan Seemann and bring the title back to his favourite theme park in England, however long it takes. The Pepsi Max Big One, Europe’s tallest rollercoaster, will be the biggest and most intensive ride anyone has ever undertaken a record attempt on, so this really will be Richard’s toughest challenge yet. Commenting on the marathon, Richard said: ‘I was the undisputed king of rollercoasters for 30 years and I’m not going to watch these German challengers take my crown. I proved my endurance in 2000, staying 2000 hours on the Big Dipper here at Pleasure Beach. Guinness Book of Records guidelines are a lot tougher these days, but I’m sure the Pepsi Max Big One dual coaster format will add a whole new dimension to this record attempt. Bring on the challenge!’ Amanda Thompson, Pleasure Beach Managing Director, added: ‘Myself and all the staff at Pleasure Beach would like to wish Richard Rodriguez the very best of luck. Pleasure Beach is the rollercoaster capital of the world with 11 classic and modern coasters, so it’s only right that the world record should be held right here in England. It’s exciting for everyone involved to be working with Richard once again." ( www.visitblackpool.com ) He has done this before (on the Big Dipper). Just wonder what you guys think?? Could you do what he is doing? Or would it put you off Rollercoasters for life?? (Remember, he has to sleep too - albeit on the Big Dipper, but hey, it's all jerky and stuff, being an old woodie.) Plus he must be getting on a bit - he has held the title for 30 years!!!
  3. Trip looks awesome!! I'm so jealous, stuck in evil never-stops-raining land with no money....
  4. I know I am new here to you guys, but I have been following this for a long time and I must say, it's a great great thing!!!!
  5. In Scotland we say "YER MUM" or, more classically, "YER MAW" E.G: "Yer maw's vag is a bucket" or "By the way, Yer Mum says good morning" or "Ask me why I am so fat" "Why are you so fat?" "Cuz Yer Mum feeds me a biscuit every time we have sex" OCH AYE YER MAW!!!!!!!!
  6. Hey everyone!! My name is Genna and I am from the sunniest city in Scotland (what?!! There is actually a sunny place IN Scotland?), Dundee. I have been looking over this site for the last couple of years, everytime I feel the urge for something coaster-related. I finally took the plunge and joined....! Being in Scotland, we don't have many (any) good parks, so I suppose my local would be Blackpool Pleasure beach where I spent a lot of time on holiday when I was a wee bittie lass. I haven't thought about how many coasters I have ever been on before, or how many times (usually 'till the place closes), but I would estimate around 30 coasters, a lot of times!! I live with my wee dog Sparky and my laddie Dave and I am a student at Dundee University. I also speak a little Greek. That is all!

  9. My fiance and I are getting married in 2 years (lots o time to save up money) and are going to attempt a Theme Park Tour of Europe (Yeeeeaaaaah baby!!) for our Honeymoon. We are also going to attempt driving ourselves (so far). Problem is, we keep seeing all these AWESOME parks (well they look awesome on the website). The list is growing by the day as we stumble upon more and more, and we were just wondering if you could give any kind of recommendations of the top ten or even 5 that we could go to before we go mad and end up never coming home again. (Probably not a good idea). We are starting in Scotland ( where there is NOTHING) and want to visit Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Alton Towers, so they are already on the list. It's more just a case of France, Spain, Italy..... Is it worth going to Disneyland Paris?
