Wasp...bees can't sting more than once. Unless you had 3 bees in there...lol. Funny though, because I've never seen a lot of wasps around El Toro, as I have other rides, that's the only ride on which I've ever been stung. I got stung on the back of my shoulder at the very end of the ride, and I think I felt something weird in my shirt for the entire second half of the track. Cool pics of Storm Runner's cable break. -
So I just went today for the first time in a couple months. Wild One was smooth as ever, but Roar was rougher than I've ever felt it before...usually it's fun and very rough, but this time the roughness took most of the fun out of it. Realllly chewed up the track and shook us all over the place. For those who have been on it, you know the last turn is generally the roughest. Almost every pullout felt like that last turn today. Too bad.
-
Oh, to me the back isn't too bad for roughness, but it's not nearly as good as the front in almost every way. The airtime is lacking back there because of the shaping on a lot of the hills, plus it's not quite as smooth. Still tracks a lot better back there than Roar does even in front, but the shaping I guess could be described as creating more jolts than Roar's continuous jackhammering.
-
Maybe you rode in the back. I always ride in the front, and like the other guy, it's also one of the smoothest tracking non-Intamin woodies I've ever been on. Roar is infinitely rougher...like, factually. I don't think there's any possible argument for that one haha. Was it the jerk in the little hill after the turnaround or something? The strong laterals on the helix? I don't get it lol...I ride Roar a couple times per visit at least, and enjoy it, but there's really no comparison.

Thanks SoCal. I plan on uploading a video or two on YouTube at some point, as I have for a couple of my other rides. Just have to make one first lol. Glad you liked the ride! -

I don't have it on my computer, and plus it's not for me to send out. -

NoLimits-Exchange is my primary site, so I released it there first. Thunderhead Falls is a very highly themed ride designed a while ago by Phyter. It was on CoasterSims and I don't know if it's online anymore. Thanks for the comments. Glad you enjoyed the ride! -

CONFIDENTIAL: CYPHER III PROTOTYPE TEST 1 BACKGROUND: The top secret Unmanned Aerial Vehicle "CYPHER" project has been comprimised as the vehicle was damaged after experiencing erratic flight behavior over enemy lines. CYPHER III has been returned to base following last weeks recovery mission. MISSION: Potentially comprimised information after the crash accelerates the need for improvement in the Cypher project in order to maintain military dominance. Gather performance data during continued prototype testing under realistic field conditions. Data acquired will be employed during the reconstruction of CYPHER III and utilized to improve future iterations of the CYPHER project. Qualified volunteers must be prepared for high speeds, quick maneuvers, and unexpected behaviors. Coaster Name: CYPHER III Designer: DC High Heat Coaster Type: Intamin AG Suspended Catapult Coaster Propulsion System: Linear Induction Motor Launch Top Speed: 77mph Height: 205' 10" Max Drop: 198' 11" Track Length: 3322' 3" Ride Time (Station to Station): 1m 47s Ride Time (Launch Start to Brake End): 38s Track Design/Construction Method- Newton 2, Auto Heartline Generator (AHG) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Important Notes: -This ride is intentionally designed to be short, original, and intense in the style of other launched Intamin designs such as Furius Baco, Storm Runner, Volcano, RITA, and Kingda Ka. The ride time keeps excitement up while maintaining reasonable cost. Here's a comparison: Ride Time (Launch Start to Brake End): RITA: 25s Kingda Ka: 26s Storm Runner: 30s Furius Baco: 33s CYPHER III: 38s Volcano: 44s -The ending was designed to be unconventional and surprising like that of Volcano, Xcelerator, or Kingda Ka, but original in its own way. -The "Watch Your Head" sign on the side of the train, as seen on other rides such as Volcano, only works correctly on the loading side of the train. Because of constraints with No Limits cartextures, the other side of the train displays a mirrored sign. It's not very noticeable while the ride is moving, so I decided to leave in the extra detail despite the issue. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Acknowledgements: Testing and Thoughts: SoCalDude, Jakizle, Matt, Real, A113, Freddie, Ragan Exporting/Scenery Help: AyTrane, A113 Thanks guys! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I thank you for downloading and reading my thoughts, and hope you will enjoy your ride on CYPHER III! I spent a lot of time and effort perfecting the design, so ratings and comments are greatly appreciated. Cypher III.nlpack -
I'm tall and skinny, and I had no problems either. It's a little more restrictive than it was before the change, but not by much. I think people just like to complain. I've been to SFA something like 50+ times since 2000, and I've had a ride break down while I was on it twice over those 50 visits. Once on Roar's lift for around 15 minutes, and once on Superman's lift for around 10 minutes. Considering I've ridden a coaster there maybe 300 times, I think 2 breakdowns isn't all that bad. Certainly not much if at all worse than any other park I've frequented. I think all the problems people mention would be a bigger deal if the lines weren't so consistently short. I'd rather have slow operators and wait 10 minutes to get on a world class ride like Superman, than fast operators on an equally high quality ride elsewhere and wait an hour. I know I don't go to parks to get greeted by operators...I can talk to friendly people anywhere else. I go to parks to enjoy rides, and it's a heck of a lot easier to do that when you only have to wait 10 minutes, regardless of the conditions. And with that said, in all my visits I've maybe two or three times found operators doing something that didn't make sense or could make people upset. No they're not the best, but no they don't have to be. Maybe it's just me though.

I usually ride SROS 5+ times in a row with little to no discomfort, and I'm very tall. Surprised you think it's that bad. That kink on the first hill has been there for a while...maybe as long as I can remember. I think it's because of a mix of the actual design methods (which I won't get into, but they're very different on SROS SFA/SFDL/SFNE and every other Intamin since), and also the construction was imperfect in that spot. Doesn't really bother me that much other than to be a slight annoyance.

Hello again. I'd like to present what will be one of my last updates before release. First, some information: Name: CYPHER III Designer: DC High Heat Coaster Type: Intamin AG Suspended Catapult Coaster Propulsion System: Linear Induction Motor Launch Top Speed: 77mph Height: 205' 10" Max Drop: 198' 11" Track Length: 3322' 3" Ride Time (Station to Station): 1m 47s Ride Time (Launch Start to Brake End): 38s Track Design/Construction Method- Newton 2, Auto Heartline Generator (AHG) Some important notes before release: -This ride is intentionally designed to be short, original, and intense in the style of other launched Intamin designs such as Furius Baco, Storm Runner, Volcano, RITA, and Kingda Ka. The ride time keeps excitement up while maintaining reasonable cost. Here's a comparison: Ride Time (Launch Start to Brake End): RITA: 25s Kingda Ka: 26s Storm Runner: 30s Furius Baco: 33s CYPHER III: 38s Volcano: 44s I fully expect to get destroyed for my length, despite the fact that I think these stats show CYPHER III as one of the longer rides of the given style. I hope you all will consider trackwork detail, pacing, and overall quality along with stats *in relation to* real life counterparts. I'm fully open to discussion if you agree or disagree, so please feel free to comment and allow me to reply to any thoughts you may have before release. -Please don't expect Thunderhead Falls; my focus was on overall quality and ride excitement, not a huge amount of scenery. What I've done is what I feel makes the coaster itself as realistic as possible (generally speaking: station, queue, pathways, electrical/mechanical additions, footers, lights/trashcans/benches) without going overboard with theming. With all that said, I think the ride really came out well, and I can't wait to release for you all to enjoy riding as much as I have designing! I'll end with a few more pictures: Questions and comments are welcome!
