Hey everyone! My name is Geo and I'll be giving you my first ever Photo Trip Report!!! Yay!!!
My family and I recently went on vacation to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The thing I realized when I first heard that we were going to Edmonton was that I can get roller coaster credit at the West Edmonton Mall. I got really excited and was glad that I will be getting credits... Yes, you are probably thinking I'm a coaster whore. Hey, I'm not the only one.
In Canada, we did a lot of sightseeing. The countryside was really nice. I got to see the Canadian Rockies, glaciers on mountaintops, and wildlife crossing the streets.
It was my first time in Canada and it was really a great experience.
Nearing the of the vacation we headed to West Edmonton Mall. I stayed with my friends from other families that we met up with for this vacation. These people joined me to experience the theme park, Galaxyland, which is inside the mall.
Galaxyland is a pretty impressive indoor theme park. Although, the park seems kind of small due to so many attractions in the park. There are four roller coasters and other flat rides. One of the kid coasters, Dragon Wagon was closed because it had to make room for their latest roller coaster Galaxy Orbiter. Galaxy Orbiter is a spinning roller coaster by Gerstlauer Amusement Rides (rcdb.com).
I was really happy that the Galaxy Orbiter opened while we were in Canada.
Anyways, here is some photos of the roller coasters in Galaxyland.
Before I start I'd like to give special thanks to Desiree's boyfriend, Logan for taking some of these pictures.
The track of Autosled in the foreground and Galaxy Orbiter in the background. Gives you an idea how close the attractions can be amongst each other. Thanks everyone, this is the end of my first Photo TR. Enjoy!
The three inversions on Mindbender. A double loop and an individual loop.
Mindbender entering the second of the Loop de Loop elements.
...And down it goes. This ride is bumpy and rough. Since the shoulder harnesses are really hard those bumps and the forces in the dropping helix makes you hit your neck into it. I'd say that the middle car is not the one to ride.
Up into the rafters as Mindbender climbs to the top.
Us on Mindblender... cough... Ahem... I mean Mindbender. This is a really crazy photo of us people.
Galaxy Orbiter really brings you up to the ceiling of the theme park.
The finale of Galaxy Orbiter was pretty cool. The helixes were in a figure 8 and provided some great G-forces all while spinning.
The chain lift. I noticed as the train goes through the first section from the drop to the tight snaking turns; the track and supports sway. Is there anyone that can give a educated guess to why it's doing that?
Here is the first drop of the Galaxy Orbiter. Just to let you know, it is my first time on a spinning roller coaster like Galaxy Orbiter.
Here I am with friends, Desiree, Lisa, and Tessa waiting in line for the Galaxy Orbiter.
This is the sign for Galaxy Orbiter. It has that infamous alien character with it.
Galaxy Orbiter recently opened in Galaxyland on July 17, 2007.
Here I am giving a hug to one of Galaxy Orbiter's blue steel support beams.
Here I present to you, Galaxyland, a theme park inside the West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
