  1. It opened back up at around 5:30ish. Got lucky and was walking towards right when they allowed people back in line and got on the 2nd train back out. Absolutely insane! I need to make several more visits before the year is over now that it seems to be running somewhat reliable.
  2. It didn't. The best place for the shooting dark ride would be in the old 4D theater spot. I know they have a show there now but the infrastructure is probably close to what would be needed for that type of an attraction.
  3. I might of mentioned it a few times. My fixation will now transfer to them adding the shooting dark ride.
  4. I am planning my attack on that amazing looking pizza.
  5. Miss Lillian's Chicken House and the Old Flooded Mine ride were not that close to each other. The Flooded Mine Ride was where Daredevil Falls is. Are you referring to the old Inventor's Mansion building that's above the tunnel to the train and County Fair?
  6. ^After school starts, Sundays are the way to go especially if you can get there right as the park opens. Most of the weekend tourists go on Saturday, and the locals do not show up until after church lets out.
  7. No one can predict how the ride will be running then. Like you said, I would recommend waiting until much closer to Labor Day weekend.
  8. Glad a lot of you are getting to ride it. I am probably going to wait until it cools down again to head back the park. These 90 degree days in East Tennessee are getting old.
  9. Love this update! This day was the most fun I have had a park that wasn't in Orlando. We did so much but never felt rushed.
  10. It tasted like really good hamburger helper. Definitely worth the 6-7 bucks!
  11. All parks have a similar policy...lightning in the immediate area and all rides are closed. I am 45 minutes away and there were several storms that went through today.
  12. I have only heard about this park with its connection with Dollywood. There is a lot more there than I anticipated. Thanks for the report!
  13. ^What exactly do you enjoy about Dollywood? You are a habitual complainer in this thread and the majority of your posts are complaints. This isn't Trip Advisor, this is an enthusiasts' forum. I am just trying to figure out why you continue to post in this thread other than you enjoy piling on and being negative. This pre-dates Lightning Rod, so you obviously had issues prior to the ride being announced.
  14. I don't get to keep up with this thread like I used to, but my best response is to reiterate what Elissa said a while back: I will continue to support Dollywood in all of this. It isn't sucking up, it is just me hoping that these delays can be eliminated sooner than later because they have an elite ride here. If you want to take this situation to an extreme level that is fine but remember there are several rides in the industry that have had far worst outcomes. Rides that never opened or actually caused serious injuries or deaths. Don't get me wrong, I emphasize with those of you that do not live near the park and don't have the luxury to be patient with the events that are unfolding. Let's just remember that we are talking about a roller coaster and show each other respect. Thank you.
  15. Let me add something as a moderator of the forum: There is a fair amount of negative posts towards Dollywood and Lightning Rod that are remaining in this thread and not being deleted. You can not say that we are censoring this thread and only allowing positive posts. People are allowed to complain (as long as it is respectable towards other posters and the park) just as people are allowed to complain about your complaining posts within the same respect. If you are going to call out how this thread and the forum is being run, then your post is going bye-bye. Most of you probably don't have a clue why I am posting this, but the ones that have had their posts disappear do. Stop it.
  16. I've been on it 8 times. My first ride (this was the 2nd day it operated with public on it) had the underwhelming launch. One Saturday, I was able to ride five times throughout the day and one of them was on Train #1 and it had a noticeable decrease in speed on it.
  17. I think this is the main problem. I have had one or two rides that are similar to what you are describing, but the majority of them, the launch is much stronger and it makes a difference in a fun ride and a holyballsairtime ride. It probably could make it through the circuit with a fast lift hill, but for the ride to be experienced as designed, the launch is completely necessary rather gimmicky or not.
  18. 40% of your 500 or so posts are in the Six Flags Magic Mountain thread. Would you honestly not be thrilled to have a ride like that at SFMM?
  19. Everything is generic and commercialized in that area. Not sure what all of your tastes are, so it would be hard to know what you consider a unique place.
  20. ^It had not been added. It will probably take a couple weeks after the ride is running reliably before it will be added. The Time Saver is somewhere between a regular Flash Pass and a gold Flash Pass. I am not sure percentages but it will reduce your wait compared to the standby line. We were told in the Lightning Rod station that the most you would ever wait would be 55 mins with the Time Saver no matter if the line is 2 hours or more. Go to the Island in Pigeon Forge. Moonshine tasting, plenty of restaurants and a ton of attractions/rides completely unique to the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area.

  22. I see Garbles is protecting his braces during the splashdown.
