  1. Is that what you're thinking about? Not really. The Icons I was thinking about would be related to theme parks and rides/ trips/ events and what not. Each icon would be created to convey the content which the icon/button associated with thus less clutter on the front page. Please understand that the TPR front page is fine and works well. On my desk top I have Icons to let me know what is in each folder- and color coded. No I do not alphabetize the contents of my refrigerator- but its close! You have done a fabulous job- maybe you don't need to do anything. Its the best site on the net regarding its contents- so there ya go!
  2. This site is really well done IMO. My only suggestion would be to create ICONS to convey content and less words. Having to read word descriptions to disseminated content interest can be confusing/time consuming. I leave it to the creative members to create these ICONS and would probably get an ICON suggestion post to inspire members to create them- motivate with contests and prizes. Have the lifers on here such as Dan, Jahan and even kidtums be the judges/and participants. Talk amongst yourselves about that suggestion. The information is definitely here and TPR is a trusted source all the way around. I am very grateful for this site and all the hard work that has gone into it. Even if you did nothing and leave it as is- I know where and how to get the info I may need (yes, the site is this good already!!). I have only attended one event and it was fabulous! I still have my badge and it hangs proudly somewhere in my things when I can find it. I wish I had time to become more involved- but I do not- thus TPR has become a source for verification. Sadly I do not add much to this site and I am an unintentional news parasite! Sorry about that! I did give some info about Maggie Valley because of a client who wrote and directed a movie called GhostTown which was filmed on location at Ghost Town In The Sky Amusement park- which was (as I was told) the premiere of the film was to be linked with the parks grand-reopening. I do not know how it turned out but I did provide film location shots which occurred while the park was closed and this and Screamscape were the only sites I gave the pics and info to. So I did give a little! I have received far more than my imput- so I offer some suggestions here as requested so I will feel less guilty perusing the site. My nephew is the creator/co-founder and CEO of digg.com and I have asked for his tech staff to take a look at the site and give me some notes which I will happily pass along when and if I get any.
  3. I was not happy to hear that Ej (X's sister in Japan) is not as rough as X. I have never ridden EJ, but I have ridden X. I agree with Sharktums on this thread. I think she said it best. If SFMM wants to compete with Cedar Point. Some of the things SFMM have done in the past have gotten them on my ghetto shit list. Before they repaint X they should spend some of that 10 million to paint the ground or something around Scream. Why reinvent the wheel on this incredible roller coaster. X2 is kind of like painting the Coney Island Cyclone green and stringing a few christmas lights in the tunnel's and renaming it Cyclone2. I really liked X. I liked everything about it- including its roughness- which was part of the thrilling appeal for me. X made me think that my car was going to finally give in to gravity- then off spinning to my death (or transformation). X's colors were wonderfully warm and inviting and gave a deceptive feeling of safety. I will probably ride X2- then I will be able to give my opinion as to the difference and value of the extra 10 million bucks! I am going to Disneyland on Sunday. I hope to experience something new.
  4. Personally- I grew up 4 miles away from Disneyland and often me and my buddies would climb onto the roof of our house and watch the fireworks show (that is when we were not in the park!). I come from a time when we had boxes or stashes of Disneyland tickets (I had a dresser dedicated to these tickets with individual drawers for A,B,C,D & E's). My brother and I camped out over night on Tom Sawyer's island and were never discovered! California Adventure is a reflection of what Disney has transmogrified into. I remember when it was a wondrous event just to be in the parking lot! The Parking Lot had more magic than an entire amusement park! Now with $1.3 Billion dollars they can (and will) make an even bigger corporate mess!
  5. If they took out Vortex and replaced it with a copy of Thorpe's Colossus I doubt many would complain. Actually it would be a smart bit of business. They could relocate Vortex to Geauga Lake, even have it extend out over the water to make it even cooler like Anaconda (the suckiest coaster on the planet!). Vortex was the first 6 looper in the country and deserves respect. I agree with most- rid the park of SOB- it really is not related to the Beast. Its more like the bastard son of a hundred maniacs (like Freddy Krueger!).
  6. This poll is so old but I just had to do it! I don't have a lot of time (like Robb & Alissa) to run around and do roller coasters for a living (I know I sound bitter- and I am!) Anywhoo I wouldn't look gay with a wiener in my mouth! Yet I am gay. And so is anyone else who has read my reply! NOT!
  7. Getting my copy of REC3 for Mac today and was wondering if there is an expansion pack available for it? Any help avail?
  8. I would not ride this bone-jarring waste of wood for anything. They should burn it!
  9. The drop out of the station is cool. The first drop after the lift hill is great. The rest of the ride sucks. It should be scrapped and build something worthy of its daddy. Son Of Beast was obviously adopted and has no relation to the Beast.
  10. It appears this coaster is going to be a marvel considering how fast it is going without weight in the train! I am not familiar with the specs of this monster- but it appears to fly through the station at some point during its curcuit which would make it pretty original in its design. Whatever the case may be- it seems this one is going to be a real "weenie shrinker" when it officially debuts!
  11. I appreciate your comments in addressing this issue. Its very scary what is going on in the world right now with slave labor taking American jobs. On this particular Thursday I could not understand what the employees were saying at all and it was just weird. The girl working Deja-Vu was not 20, not 18, not 17, not 16, not 15. They were all very friendly and polite. It was just strange for me after having read all these news articles on slave labor and human trafficking!
  12. I do not want to come off racist- which I am not. However my last trip to SFMM two weeks ago, nearly every employees in the park was asian. Many of us in line couldn't understand what they were saying over the intercoms! It was so strange- it seemed to be a mix of Chinese, Korean and Phillipino kids- And I do mean mean kids! One of the girls checking safety restraints on Deja-Vu couldn't have been more than 14 years old. She could not speak a word of English and had to have another employee, who only spoke slightly better English, do a broken interpretation of what a passenger was tring to say. It was bizarre to say the least. Nearly every shop and food stand had one of these employees and it made it very difficult to place an order. Many of us were commenting on it- then a lady in line for funnel cakes at the exit was convercing in Korean with another employee and they were discussing that the land in front of the park was been cleared to make room for employee housing. So I thought maybe that day had offered training for asian amusement parks and that it might be some kind of education co-op between Six Flags and Asian park owners sort of thing. So I asked another employee about it and he said, nope they are all full-time seasonal employees!! He also said it was his last week as an employee- he was being layed-off. I don't mind who works where as long as I can communicate with them- but I did find the massive change something to wonder about- as did many people milling about discussing a noticable difference in staff- we shared jokes about the little Asian girl at Deja-Vu who had to litterally jump up high to pull down restraints that she could not reach- then we took a moment of pause on the safety of that. Can anyone on here verify this and the employee housing situation?
  13. I am sorry I missed the after party bash. I really wanted to go and meet everybody! I did meet some cool folks during ERT and look forward to getting more involved. The pics look great! And so does that adorable girl!!!! See you guys around! btw, does anyone know the truth about Flashback's future? I heard they are getting a new restraint system for the trains and are going to rehab it and relocate it in the back of the park. CYA- Darrell
  14. The only reason your beautiful girl is a preemie is because she couldn't wait a minute longer to ride a rollercoaster! You guys did an awesome job! See you at the bash! I am really looking forward to meeting you all in person! Best, Darrell
  15. All I can say is good riddance to Psyclone and Flashback! Psyclone was a dud from day one! They said it was a duplicate of the orignal Coney Island Psyclone, which it wasn't even close! Not only that it was one of the all time worst coasters ever from day one! We used to call it the Bone Crusher! Flashback was always a bust, with the exception of the high-speed upward helix near the end of the ride. It had a stupid lift hill with a sharp dip before the chain lift that gave you the first of many tooth grinding vibrations! The dive dips were actually cool but as soon as it leveled out the head banging restraints (and God help and ear piercings!). It was pretty fast at times which caused "white Flash head jarring") and when the ride came to an end you were grateful it was over. It left a meanful headache on its riders for the rest of the day! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention it stinks (I mean it smeeled like an oil refinery). If they do reassemble this monster I hope they buy new trains w/out over the shoulder harnesses, then I would try it again. Also the color should be black to go with the oil stains!
  16. This coaster was one of the most painful bone jarring experiences I ever had. It is almost as bad as SFMM's Colossus or Psyclone. Sometmes the powers that be just get it all wrong! Atleast the loop made it orginal and interesting. If anything they should have taken out those gawd awful helixes. That's where the failed. The rest of it was great! Collage
