  1. Here is a page from the Guiness Book of World's Records. Seems funny that the biggest coaster in the world was only was only 110' tall with a max drop of only 92'. Pretty mild by today's standards. Congrats to the Screamin' Eagle for holding the World's Record!
  2. Here's an odd little park that used to be in the Pigeon Forge area. Anyone ever go to it while it was around???? MAGIC WORLD
  3. ^ Exactly. Sometimes these BIG rides can take down an established company...X did it to Arrow.
  4. Here is a great article from National Geographic that features some GREAT shots of The Turn Of The Century at Marriott's Great America!
  5. At one time Japan was home to 4 Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loops, all the fly-wheel version. Toshimaen amusement park was one of those parks. Unfortunately just recently it was removed. Here is a look at that park. TOSHIMAEN AMUSEMENT PARK
  6. NAGASHIMA SPA LAND is home to one of the last remaining Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loops, that alone makes me love this park...plus the wood coaster kiss ass!
  7. To kick off the Weekend Edition of the Lightning Round here are some highlights from Arrow Newsletter they used to publish. Anyone remember the boat ride that used to float around the base of the Luxor Pyramid????
  8. While on the subject of ride manufacturers let's look at some wood!
  9. Here's another random update from another ride manufacturer, this time the Swinging Turns...Vekoma's version of the Suspended Coaster
  10. Here's something really Random for the Random Lightning Round. Meisho's version of the Shuttle Loop.
  11. Let's continue with water parks. Here is one right across from the island... THE BEACH
  12. Anyone remember this water park? OGLE'S WATER PARK (worst name ever)
  13. The coasters that I remember were planned for the park were an Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loop called the Catapult and there was an Arrow Mine Train called the Cargo Coaster (or was it Flying Tiger???) Below is a picture I took of the park logo.
  14. Today's update is Sea World...no, not the ones you are thinking of. This is the Sea World from down under. SEA WORLD, AUSTRALIA
  15. Did you work with Bill Lee on the project? I would love to see you post some of the press releases or renderings of the park. I used to have all that stuff but I can't locate it. As a resident of San Diego while growing up I was extremely familiar with the project, and yes I agree it was a total shame this park never became a reality. I think it would have been a HUGE success.
  16. Well work never really ends...it just really slows down. But today was the official day of "Back to work for the new Season" The Winter rest is kind of nice but it is really good to get back to work. I am excited for the upcoming Summer season!
  17. I am going to end the third day of the Lightning Round with another Media Kit from Paramount's Carowinds, this time introducing DROP ZONE STUNT TOWER
  18. Here is a brochure and a couple of postcards from BEMBOM BROTHERS WHITE KNUCKLE THEME PARK
  19. Thanks everyone for all your compliments about this thread and for all your GREAT comments. Keep them coming!
  20. Funnyhow no other US park purchased a Mack bobsled coaster aside from KD,I remember when it was installed back in 88 & once I rode it that first time you couldn't get me off the darn thing & I still enjoy riding it from time to time when I'm there but lately it's as if the ride "see's" me coming & decides to either go down or get too crowded whenever I try to get a ride or two in. I can't remember but were both KD's sky pilot(I so hated that thing) & KI's flight commander installed the same year? or did KD add theirs a year after KI's? Great stuff Shane, keep on delivering the goods. Yes, I think this is really a shame it is such a unique, fun and great family ride I too thought more US parks really could have done some great things with this ride. Just think what Busch parks could have done. Maybe the American parks were somewhat turned off by the lack luster success of the Intamin version. Kings Dominion's Sky Pilot was installed in 1989 and Kings Island's was the year after in 1990.
  21. across the pond the merry ol England for our next few updates...First off American Adventure
  22. Here is the press kit folder from the year Paramount's Carowinds opened their water park. WATER WORKS
  23. Kobe Portopialand was 1997 Warner Bros Movie World was 1996
