Thorpe Park Opening Day!
divyking replied to divyking's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They've rethemed the queueline a bit, with lights and effects. During the ride they've added sound effects so that it makes sense when the train stops now instead of people shouting "Oh my god, we're going forwards on a backwards coaster!" -

They've put Nemesis Inferno on 2 now but its still not good enough, all coasters should be run to capacity, Stealth has 3 trains so that it never has to run on 1 but they've obviously forgotten that! -

It was a shame, it doesn't look like its going to open any time soon as one of the swings wasn't even attached to the arm, there were no seats or bars but we can hope! -

Best Drop Ride!!!
divyking replied to coaster_shorty's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
for me, its extremely close between detonator at thorpe park and extremis at the London dungeons, its only 20ft but its so well themed and the build up is huge before you're hung! I think that the lapbars made it so scary! I'll add a photo of us when I get back to my computer. (I'm on my iPhone at the moment) -

divyking replied to divyking's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
i've now made a news page so that you can read Alton Towers press release regarding Mutiny Bay The flagship of the £6m pirate-themed area will be Battle Galleons, an interactive water attraction set to challenge all ages. Aboard the eight Galleons, wannabe swashbucklers will take part in a fun-filled splash battle of their lives with no-one, riders and spectators alike, safe from a spectacular soaking! LINK REMOVED -

Scarefest When we arrived the monorail broke and we were stuck on it for about 15 minutes which was quite annoying. Thursdays ride count: Spinball Whizzer 2 Oblivion 2 Hex 1 Terror Of The Towers 1 Rita 4 Nemesis 2 Air 2 Duel 1 Haunted Hollow Live 2 Field Of A Thousand Screams 1 We went at the front of Nemesis and it's so much more exciting at night, the final turn is in complete darkness! Haunted Hollow Live This was quite interesting but not in the slightest scary, it was actully quite amusing. "Buy a grave, get one free" But it was easier getting to Nemesis and Air because the Skyride closed at dusk. Field Of A Thousand Screams I was quite disappointed with this as it was made out to be really scary but, personally I didn't find it to be scary at all. It also cost £5. We had to queue outside in the freezing cold for 30 minutes before being allowed in as only about 15 people could be in at a time. Terror Of The Towers I loved this, I haven't been in before this year so can't compare, but i thought it was quite funny and scary in some places. "You have 10 seconds to reach the door, before I come and eat you!" I thought that was hysterical as he looked like captain Hook! I was a bit disappointed with the event as well though because, except on Towers Street and near the Towers, there was not a trace of the event at all, except for being open until 9. No music changes or spiderwebs, graves, bodies, like at Thorpe Park this year. Max queues i saw at night: Air 20mins Nemesis 15mins Rita 10mins Oblivion 0minutes and everything else was walk on Onto the night photos. Oblivion's drop The X Sector A well timed shot of Nemesis Oblivion, approaching the drop Nemesis in the first corkscrew Nemesis Air Air Haunted Hollow Live -

height, whilst can be more intimidating doesn't always create a better ride, like nemesis for example, not very high but an amazing ride. One of the drops on Nemesis at Alton Towers -

I've just returned from a two day trip to Alton Towers which was extremely enjoyable. Everything was fantastic, except for the journey, I will start by saying, AVOID THE M25 AT ALL COSTS! What should have been a 4 hour trip turned into a 6 hour trip on the way back, we left the park at 13.15, as have annual passes and disabled queueing system and didn't get home until 19.30. I visited last night and this morning, so i will start by showing you this mornings and then move onto the night time soon. Todays ride count: Nemesis X2 Air X2 Rita Queen Of Speed X2 UgSwinger X1 Corkscrew X1 Oblivion X1 Spinball Whizzer X1 Not bad seeing as though we were only actually in the park for 3 hours. The maximum queue times that i saw today were: Air 55 minutes Nemesis 30 minutes Spinball Whizzer 60 minutes Oblivion 45 minutes Rita 25 minutes and everything else was pretty much walk on really. Heres the photos from this morning and the drive up yesterday. Night time photos and reviews of Terror Of The Towers and Field Of A Thousand Screams to come soon! What should have been a simple route A misty start Not today i'm afraid, although Thorpe Park reached capacity today (22,000) The queues when we arrived The nicely decorated entrance Air's lifthill Crazy people, it was only about 8 degrees My favourite ride in the whole world! Nemesis again Oblivion before the vertical plummet Me and my sister, on the front row on the left Here we are, zoomed in Bye Bye, 'Welcome to eternal darkness' Rita's entrance Thunder Rock Rally My camera wasn't too good on fast movements Spinball Whizzer More to come soon..... -
More images and review http://www.themeparkmania.co.uk Link on homepage and on Thorpe Park page It was quite quiet yesterday which was a bit of a surprise The Asylum: The mental patients have taken over once again, but this time, they're scarier than ever. With new shortcuts and devices to scare the living daylights out of you, this is a must do attraction during Fright Nights. Please note: This is a very popular attraction and at times the queue can exceed 2 hours. Tip: try to visit just before closing time as many people will have already left the park and the queue should cut down a lot. Hellgate: The true terror of this maze was unbelievable. This house has always scared, and always will. Se7en: Personally I find this maze to be the least scary of them all. It is based on the seven deadly sins. Guests must navigate their way through before bursting out of the exit. Park Wide: Much effort has been put into this years event compared to before. The fog has a park wide creepy atmosphere. Colossus was lit up in its usual fantastic way and spider webs had infested the park. The music has all changed once again and my favourite change of music has to be Rush. Queue times: Vortex 20 minutes Zodiac 0 minutes Rush 15 minutes Colossus 30 mins (1 train) Samurai Closed Slammer Closed Loggers Leap 5 mins Nemesis Inferno 30 minutes (1 train) Detonator 5 minutes Rapids 0 minutes Stealth 30 minutes (1 train) Tidal Wave 0 minutes (1 boat) Asylum 15 minutes Se7en 15 minutes Hellgate 5 minutes That was a bit freaky! The Asylum is crazy! Stealth whilst it was broken - I was on the first train after it opened Stealth at night

We are going to Orlando on Tuesday and we like to walk. I would really appreciate any ideas of walks that offer some views of coasters. We are staying at The Quality Inn Plaza, near SeaWorld

i wish everything was 5 mins but even the fasttrack queue was about 30 mins!! -
I went to Thorpe Park today and was expecting it to busy but couldn't have been prepared for what it was like. Luckily for me i'm 'disabled' and didn't have to queue. Here are some of the queue times i saw. Vortex 70mins Rush 95mins Colossus 140mins Samurai 90mins Loggers Leap 90mins Slammer 60mins Nemesis Inferno 120mins Rapids 60mins Detonator 45mins X:\no way out 45mins Tidal Wave 120mins Stealth 120mins Some of the people from our school only got on 2 rides in the whole day!! Heres the order we went on: Stealth Rush Zodiac X:\no way out Samurai Slammer Nemesis Inferno Rush Stealth Rapids Colossus Rush Samurai photos: It took 2 hours on the coach Colossus - painful now im 6ft 1 Samurai's overflowing queue line The 'millions' of people going to stealth Stealth - standing high above the rest Nemesis Inferno and Detonator It was a perfect day for Tidal Wave but not enough time Samurai Samurai Colossus The air time hill and cobra roll The air time hill - with train The cobra roll - with same train /\ The corkscrew with same train /\ I felt sorry for everyone who queued 2 hours for tidal wave - but then it broke!!!
