I would like to hear a valid reason, too. I am an ACE member and I dont resemble anything close to what I see here. Stuff like that really makes me feel welcome here.............

I myself joined ACE earlier this year, looking to meet like minded people, as well as attend the events. I have met some of the people stereotyped in this thread...yeah some were scary...... lol. For the most part, people have been normal. I only have done two events this year (I plan on more next year), being the Michigan's Adventure event, and the Lakemont Park event. There were some who I think take things way too seriously (but then again, in any hobby like this you're going to run across the supergeeks), but the majority of the people were folks like me, and we shared our stories. Even met a couple nice young ladies Those who didn't want to talk... I left alone. Yeah there were some pretty weird ones there, and I kept farrrr farrrrrrrrrr away from them. The big test for me will be CoasterCon next year........ that will pretty much test my faith in ACE.....

with the exception of my last one, I have nothing to do with any of them. Why? Quite simply, the treatment I got from any and all of them was bad enough that you just cannot be friends with people like them. I am not quite sure why I talk to my most recent ex. I have not seen her since I broke up with her, we just talk...took a month or so before we would even do that. Maybe it is because I never had those deep feelings for her like I did for the others, and so had nothing to feel bitter about. I duno...

I think part of the difference in pricing is that they take into consideration what the likihood is of the pass being used often at other parks, on top of the cost of using it at their own park. The Cedar Point pass is most expensive of the bunch likely because a) CP is the flagship park in the chain and b) Geauga Lake is an hour away, and PKI is 4 hours away. Someone living in, say, Columbus, Ohio could easily make day trips to any of those 3 parks. A PCW user might only make an annual trip to another park or parks in the chain, as the closest one is 5 hours away (GL) and CP is 6 hours away, and so on...... This is all good news to me, though. I am planning on going to the ACE convention next year, and it will be spending parts of 4 days at PKI (among other parks). I also want to go to the CP and GL coaster events which are on the 2 days prior to the start of the convention. This will make the trip SO much cheaper.

Having been on it myself, I can say...... Good layout..... Fun ride.... Needs new trains......

Actually, if I recall correctly, PKI was slightly more profitable than PCW last year (although PCW had the highest attendance). And, apparently, CP was way more profitable than both...but I am sure the resorts were taken into account there. Still, even if PCW is at #3 profitwise (a very good spot I might add), CF would be giving up on a good property. But I wouldnt put it past them to do it... I am sure the park would go for US$300 million on its own. Nice way to pare down the debt.

Hmm maybe there is something to that, there... perhaps (ok I know it is a longshot) CP plans on flipping PCW, hence not offering a MaxPass. As you can see I am pulling at straws here

That is good to hear...I always thought the rule was a bit silly. Maybe the signage is just remnants of the past...as I am sure most Montrealers are used to it.

That is very true...however there is a lot of misconception/confusion about the issue...a lot of people already think it is in effect, and even a lot of people who know it starts next year (with land crossings the year after) think that it will be an all-in-one shot. I am wondering if CF is taking that into account. Niagara Falls is feeling the pinch this year due to this issue, and the proposed amusement park on Clifton Hill is on hold until they see what happens with the issue. Anyways, I am just trying to find a reason for the exclusion, and right now nothing makes much sense about it.

I just thought of something..... With the Americans requiring a passport for entry into their country starting next year (fully phased in by 2008)...maybe Cedar Fair is figuring that most Canadians will stop travelling to the USA?

That is due to the language laws in Quebec, which require that any signage with any language other than French on it have French prominently displayed on it. It is part of their attempt at maintaining the French langauge in Quebec.

Nice TR. Must have been amazing with the park dead both days. If only I was so lucky. I wanted to get there this year, but alas it will have to wait til next year.

My $0.02 about skyrides: At BGA, I made use of theirs to get from one end of the park to the other on a day where I was getting tired and didn't want to walk the whole way across. I was in a coaster mood and Montu is really separated from the rest of them. Their skyride gives great views of the park. Here in Toronto, there is one on Centre Island. It is an out-and-back, but is a nice chairlift style ride going over Centreville, Far Enough Farm, and the parkland. A nice relaxing ride. The CNE here still has theirs in storage...it was dismantled years ago, but if you drive by on the Gardiner Expwy, you can see the cars and pieces of the towers. At Indiana Beach, once again a great way to cross the boardwalk...but the two tiny steel bars that serve as "restraints" were a little flimsy for my liking. I wouldnt want to put a kid on this. That said, the skyride was a great photo opportunity. These skyrides and transportation rides might not be thrilling, but for me they are a nice addition to a park.

PCW is less than a 6 hour drive from Geauga and CP, and an 8 hr drive from PKI. I imagine Dorney is only slightly longer. People here in Toronto go to Cedar Point quite a bit.
