Is it possible this "ride project" could be an attraction in Splashin' Safari?
Ooops...edited to spell Safari correctly. It's not SURFari lol.

Intamin! Intamin! Intamin!
I still find it unusual Paula hasn't hinted around. Anyone seen any markings?
-
Interesting. So Paula...any hints or teasers, or have I just been looking in all the wrong places?

Hey Bill...great photos! I always enjoy seeing what you do with film. PNE looks like a fun place, and I really hope I get out there soon (TPR NW trip maybe?).
How did Revelation compare with its Finnish sibling?

I did some digging back in the Paradise archives for this next postcard from Virginia's Buckroe Beach, a defunct park you never really hear much about anymore. I really have no idea how I acquired this card since I've never been to Buckroe, but it has been in my collection as far back as I can remember. According to RCDB, the park closed in 1985. This view shows the 1920's John Miller built Dips woodie with its station in the foreground. I've always loved how Miller's drops were built only inches from the ground. It appears there was a pretty good double down on this coaster too.
Did anyone here ever get to visit Buckroe and ride Dips?
Hi Larry...a new entry for the TPR Park Index
Funky Scrambler lights. Can you dig on those hot pants and high heels?

Always great to see the Brit Crew living it up!

Schedule looks awesome Mike. Glad to see Roswell and the Carlsbad bats on there! I think you'll like both a lot.
Looking forward to your photos and TR from this trip and good luck getting all those credits!

I had jokingly been referring to the park as Tusen-Q all day because of the slow operations.
I'm still wondering what the female ride op at Loopen was thinking with the queue gate and the way she was making everyone squeeze around, over, and under each other through the line to get to the back. It seemed all she had to do was swing the gate shut and start a new queue. Did she know something we didn't?
Overall it's a nice park that could use a lot more operations help.
Edit to add...great update Chuck!

This thread is also a good one to check out...

Awesome photo TR so far. Thanks for sharing!

Hey Peter!
It was great seeing you for the few days you were there! Glad we could get you in the Gasten Ghost Hotel at Liseberg too. I just wish we'd had more chill out time to catch up with each other after the parks.
Hopefully no more kamikaze pooping birds have flown over you!

^It is amazing that nearby Huntsville with a population of over 150,000 doesn't have its own water park by now. Shane, are you listening? Salt Lake City is only slightly larger.
I haven't been to Point Mallard since the 80's, but as evidenced by these photos the place hasn't changed ANY except for the newer bowl slide. Back in the day, the 3 water slides were cutting edge stuff. I hope the concrete walkways with the raised sharp edged pebbles have been replaced by now. That used to KILL my feet. What were they thinking?! Well it was the nation's first wave pool, so maybe they didn't know any better at the time. I agree, the park is long due for an extreme makeover if it can be done without destroying any of its charm.
Edit to add after looking back at the photos, it looks like the horrible concrete walkways with the sharp edged pebbles are still there.

Love that never before seen view of Tennessee Tornado!
Sky Zip looks really fun (always wanted one in my backyard).
Thanks for sharing the pics Robb!

I still would love to see a POV of the revamping (is that a word? lol).

I did think Efteling's Intamin bobsled, Bobbaan, was pretty awesome and the only bobsled like it where I've ever experienced airtime. The woodsy setting also made it fun swerving in and out and around the trees.
Sounds like some great new additions!

It's time to heat things up a little bit this week, and join the TPR Oven the State...oops I mean Texas...trip with a look at Sea World San Antonio's Great White and Steel Eel. When I visited in 2007, Sea World was packed wall to wall with kids in strollers. I have never seen more strollers in my life! Needless to say it was not an easy day of getting around the park. Also, the operations were honestly pretty bad, especially at the food service places. I would almost rather go back to Fuji Q than Sea World. Hopefully TPR has a much better experience!
Also...BONUS POSTCARD! I've been to Texas quite a lot over the years, and everytime I go, it seems like something crazy, wacky, or really unusual occurs. For example, back in my indie rock band touring days, we were driving from New Orleans to Houston when just as we crossed the state line and saw the "Welcome to Texas" sign, a huge chunk of metal flew off the truck/trailer driving next to our tour van and crashed through our windshield! Although we tried catching up with him, the driver never slowed down or noticed, but sped up and kept going. It was a seriously scary moment. You definitely don't mess with Oven the State!
or else you will totally BAKE in Oven the State!
Noted!
Eel-ectrifying lol. Can you find Nemo?
Both coasters have pretty cool logos!

I'm partial to buzz bars on woodies and Schwarzkopf restraints on Mind Bender.

WOW I grew up going to PM...never thougt I'd see it on TPR. Thanks for the pics!

After the Scandi trip, it's good to see that Yo Gabba Gabba lived on and was a part of the Deep South trip!
-
^ Ah ok gotcha. I thought you meant you were unaware of the trip in general. In that case, sorry you missed out on hanging out with the TPR group. It really is a blast to go on the trips, and I highly recommend them to everyone!
-
^ This Deep South trip has been known about and was announced since around last Sept/Oct of 2008. Maybe you don't frequent the TPR site very often though.

It's great to hear so many positives about Rampage. My night rides on it back in '03 were unreal! Have they fixed the clunk when the train rolls over the transfer track yet? It felt like about a half inch difference in track height there before. Overall a GREAT coaster!

Those are amazing!
Wonder Woman - The Phantom of the Roller Coaster on DVD
in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Posted
I did a search and couldn't find a topic on this 1979 TV show episode featuring Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman at Magic Mountain. If a topic thread has covered this before then feel free to bring out the lock police.
Anyway, I had heard about this two part episode of Wonder Woman mentioned somewhere before but had forgotten about it till recently. I had an idea my library might have the DVD, so I checked out their catalog and sure enough there it was! I put it on reserve, and it finally came this week. I watched it today, and it was pretty cheesy but in a good way! This amazing show was filmed at Magic Mountain and has a TON of great old school footage featuring POVs of Revolution and Colossus, the Intamin Galaxy wheel, skyride POVs, a chase scene through the Schwarzkopf Mountain Express, and lots of night scenes of rides long gone from the park. I would say the footage shot for this TV show is better than what I've seen from around the same time period as shown in the movies "Rollercoaster" and "Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park"!
Anyone else seen it? Run, don't walk, to your local library and get it if they have it! Totally two thumbs up.
