  1. According to IMDB.com, The NBC show Revolution filmed here at some point over the past few months. It'll be interesting to see how they made it look post apocalyptic. Couldn't have been too hard to create.
  2. With this level of things getting out, someone is in serious trouble. I don't think I've ever seen this much information and concept art from a project get out this soon before.
  3. In case no one has realized it here, the entire layout and plans for BGW's 2012 project have been posted over at BGW Fans.com
  4. I just want to throw this out there for you guys to bash and deny immediately. Apparently at some of the park's orientations, the GM Carl Lum and the instructor conducting the orientations have said the new coaster will be 300ft tall and the 95ft height waver is wrong. People over at BGWFans seem set on this being true.
  5. I care more about the station still standing and looking as good as ever. I just hope that it remains and actually gets a use with the new coaster. Haha. The station was so obvious to me I didn't think to mentioned it.
  6. Over at BGW there are tons of hidden reminders of past rides. The one that everyone here would care about is the few footers that still remain from Drachen Fire. They are on the left side of the train tracks as you come up on the old storage building. There are also a few footers scattered beside the pathways around that area.
  7. The loss of the BBW wasn't about some impressive coaster going away before its time, it was about a coaster that for many people was their first coaster ever. Mine included. Sure before it was announced it was going away, people weren't traveling hours and hours to go ride it but people knew it was there and cherished it when they rode it. It is all about that feeling of losing something that was important to you and knowing you can't see or ride that something special can make someone sad. The people who say it was a great coaster I'm sure, mean that BBW meant a lot to them more so than it was a world class coaster. BBW was just history and memories for many people. That is why it will always be missed.
  8. In 2008 at BGW, Roman Rapids had to be shut down because a snake was on the wall snapping at passing boats.
  9. Hi Name is Vaughan. I joined way back in 2006 but until now my PC would never let me log in. I get a Mac and what do ya know? I can log in. Well, I worked at BGW from 2008 to 2009. Learned a lot of stuff from that and have always loved roller coasters and theme parks. I have posted for years on BGEscape and BGWfans.com
  10. Absolutely! Think about the operational and mechanical challenges that ride faces: - Two lift hills - Track over water - Trains that include multiple shocks on each car of each train - It's 25 years old - The TWO companies that originally built and designed it no longer exist. - The coaster no longer got the annual ridership it did 10-15 years ago I'm sure there are more, and when a park looks at how much money they have to spend annually to keep up a 25 year old ride versus buying something that is new which comes with less baggage and is more marketable for years to come. I am sure that meetings were had to discuss the cost to keep BBW over the next ten years and the return that would generate versus building a new coaster. I never said I thought the ride wasn't really cool. I never said that people shouldn't get nostalgic over it. I'm just saying that I don't think the ride was as good as the mourners are making it out to be. --Robb Robb you have hit exactly almost every reason why the coaster left. I had the privilege of being a supervisor for BBW in spring of 2009 before moving over to Roman Rapids. While the ride was popular and only 25 years old, it was damn near impossible to maintain anymore. When we were filming the Que Video for BBW in 2009 ( Yeah they made a new video for the few months it had left) the ride was broken down the entire day. This just tells you that its life would be coming to an end soon. So it was no surprise when i found out it was being taken out in May 2009.
