  1. Hey Madsecar and VFVSGirl, I am visiting Minnesota on Friday, October 10th and was going to check out the Halloween Haunt from 7 PM to Midnight. I want to hit all the best mazes and coasters, do you think I need the fast lane/skeleton key pass? I know VFVSGirl said it was definitely worth it, just wondering if either of you could go into a little more details on what the lines are looking like. I'm also a little confused on the whole skeleton room thing.
  2. Awesome photos! Well done.
  3. Understood. It was just easier for me to think about design if i quickly mapped it out. I guess my biggest point would be that I would like for the new updates to be a little larger and more center stage than the stuff that has been out for a few days.
  4. I voted update. I like the design and always have, but it is beginning to look more like an "older site" in my opinion. I would say my biggest complaint is that there really isn't a focal point. Size wise, brand new updates are given the same emphasis as old ones. The many pictures are great. However, they are all so similar in size and placement that it leads me as a viewer feeling a little cluttered and like I don't know where to start. I find myself missing updates or assuming I have already seen things if I don't read the dates carefully. Anyway, here is a really quick rough draft I threw together. I don't think it's a perfect layout, but maybe it will get people brainstorming. For the announcements, timed rotating banners could save space. Similar to Yahoo's front page. 5. I've been confused by this too. Any help?
  6. I am very interested. I'm not 100% sure I can make it but after experiencing how awesome the Texas Giant Bash was, I'll do everything I can to get there. Especially if there ends up being night ERT... I would be bringing 2 people with me.
  7. Sounds awesome. I am trying to convince a friend to come with me... what are the wait times usually like during ERT?
  8. Maybe the costs? And for you kweiss, my suggestion only said which parks are available. Do you know which direction you are going? As in, are you gonna be taking the route I coordinated, or a different one that your parents want? And I agree with Elissa, SFoG is better, but I-305 is incredible. Not completely sure yet which route. It's not set in stone and we're willing to adjust it if it means seeing the best park possible.
  9. Sounds awesome! Might be a little much though. The reason they don't want to do too many parks is because the vacation is more about New York... I'm just trying to sneak in some coasters where I can. Of the two people I'm going with, one really likes roller coasters and the other enjoys them occasionally but would rather not ride them. This has me leaning to Busch Gardens Williamsburg... it seems the mix of scenery/theming and elite rides would be a good fit for everyone. I thought I heard something about them having really great gardens, hence the name. True? I appreciate the suggestions, thanks. I'll definitely look into them. The review section on this site leans to SFOG > King's Dominion. Would you agree? Thanks again everyone.
  10. A credit whore is telling me to pass up the chance to hit some parks?
  11. Does the community have a preference for any of these parks vs. the others? Great Adventure seems like a sure thing because its collection of coasters seems unmatched. The other parks seem like a toss up to me.
  12. Dallas, Texas to Syracuse, New York. Plan is to arrive in Syracuse on a Thursday, if that makes any difference. We're then going from Syracuse to New York City. Speed isn't a big priority and we're willing to go a little out of the way if it means hitting a better park. Thanks!
  13. My family and I are driving from Texas to NY, and we're looking for a place or two to cut down the 25 hour drive. The only problem is that the family doesn't want to go to more than 2 parks... maybe 3 if I get lucky. I need to cut down the list. Any hep, and any I'm forgetting? Six Flags Over Georgia (Georgia) Holiday World (Indiana) Carowinds (North Carolina) Busch Gardens Williamsburg (Virginia) King's Dominion (Virginia) Six Flags Great Adventure (New Jersey) Six Flags New England (Massachusetts)
  14. Is it two hours of ERT on New Texas Giant, Titan, and Shockwave? Or is it 2 hours of ERT on New Texas Giant + unknown amount of ERT on Titan and Shockwave? I've never been to a TPR event before and I'm wondering how many rides I can realistically expect to get. Thanks everyone.
  15. Coaster fan. Roller coasters are the reasons I go to parks, and once I'm there I rarely do much besides ride the coasters. Theming, food, and nice landscaping is merely a bonus. I would choose a concrete park with great roller coasters over a park with average coasters but great scenery and theming any day.
  16. Ahh, I read over that. It just seems strange to me that an age would determine whether you could ride. Age doesn't really mean anything on a coaster, since body types can vary so much.
  17. It seems Maverick is now braking harder before the launch. When I rode it opening day, it didn't even come to a complete stop in the tunnel. It slowed down to probably 10 mph and then was immediately off again. I noticed in the reverse POV that the ride basically came to a complete stop, and this is what recent reviews are saying about it too. I kind of wish I could have experienced the launch from 0 mph. It seems like it would be more intense. And for the record of this whole debate going on right now... I prefer MF over Maverick, and I was surprised when I first found out how many people considered Maverick the best ride in the park.
  18. First generation Intamin drop rides are my favorite. Although I haven't ridden any of Intamin's newer ones, I actually prefer them over S&S drop towers. They are the only rides that make me nervous each and every time. Something about the way they are so old and rickety, you slowly get pushed over the edge, and the way the floor completely drops out from underneath you is just awesome. The whole ride seems so much meaner and more intense then other newer, taller drop rides. It's a shame so many are on their way out.
  19. Great TR! Sucks that you didn't get to ride Rattler. On the plus side, if you were planning on riding in the back, you saved yourself the roughest ride I have ever experienced. Was Superman Krypton Coaster's sign really as faded as in the pic? I was there last year and don't remember it looking too bad, what a difference a year in the Texas heat makes! I second the love for Shockwave. Pure Schwarzkopf greatness.
  20. They're not bad. Perhaps it's different in the back row (both my rides were front seat) but as I said before, through 2 rides I experienced ZERO banging against the restraints. It's simple - see a turn coming and lean in that direction. As long as you have a general idea of the layout and you don't sit there like a motionless rag doll, you should be fine.
  21. Nice TR! I haven't yet had a chance to make it out to SFOT yet this year, but I think I will have to after seeing this. Personally, I think Mr. Freeze looks great with the new paint job. It might not fight the theme perfectly, but it sure beats the "baby blue rust" color they had before.
  22. Its Cedar Point. You'll get bugs everywhere on any ride ride at night. Yeah, I guess I was just being optimistic because I had ridden MF in the front seat the night before, and I barely got any bugs. Although once the Maverick train pulled into the station and I saw the wall of smashed bugs on the OTR restraints (you could barely see any orange on parts of it), I was prepared. Whatever, I still had a great ride!
  23. It flows with the ride. Given how much speed you pick up over the lagoon, an inline twist (especially the way that one was designed) would have been painful.
  24. Hey guys, Just got back from a trip to Cedar Point. I was one of the many who stood in the pouring rain all Saturday morning to get an early ride on Maverick. The ride is tons of fun. The drop is great, and there are some very good moments of airtime on the hills. I loved the launch and the quick left turn that follows it, the awesome stengel dives, and the quick turns and constant change of direction. I think the ride is perfect for Cedar Point because it feels so different from all their other coasters. It's not all that intense or intimidating, it's just absolute fun all the way through. Great ride, I'd give it an 8.5/10. A few other notes: -I also rode it at the end of the day when the que was almost completely full, and the wait was roughly 2 hours. -I didn't notice the headchoppers at all. -I've noticed people complained about hitting their necks against the restraints. I just made sure to anticipate and lean with the turns, and I never once hit my neck against the restraints. -Both my rides were in the front seat. During my night ride I was getting tons of bugs to the face throughout the whole ride. I practically rode with my eyes closed.
