verticalzero Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 The Orphan Rocker was built in 1988 by an Australian company. Problems discovered during testing keeping the ride from opening to the public. Since the 1990s several pieces of track were redesigned and replaced. In 2002 the wheel hubs were replaced. In February 2004 the ride is still being worked on. But no indications as to when the ride will open are known at this time. Anyone have an update on this Coaster and when it will be open..? http://rcdb.com/ig1870.htm
downunder Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 There was an article in the local sydney paper last year about it's status last year, and they said they were in no hurry to get it up and running and that it was still a work in progress. They are small and have limited funding to get it finished sounds like the excuse, they did spend a lot money replacing their cable cars recently. There is a thread with the article on ozcoaster.net: http://ozcoaster.net/forums/Upload/showthread.php?tid=135&page=1 I know I'll be up to Katoomba if it ever does open, doubt it will be any good though.
