I've seen a lot of the videos here and I must say that I'm completely stunned! You guys do an awesome in your editing. But now I have a quick question. Do you use some sort of effect to get part of the video to groove with the music track? What is that called??

Thanks,

CSC

Huh? Can you provide an example of what you mean? From what you're asking, that's just basic editing to sync with the music, no built in effect, just being creative and knowing the software well.

Hi wes41190,

Yes I can give you a good example. If you've seen the finalist video for Jarvis Morant - My Hump, it's done there a few times. Right around the 1:50 mark, a couple times in the 2:24-2:30 mark, and a few times at 3:19-3:36. It's like having the coaster move forward and backwards at a fast pace. I'm probably not saying it right but if you take a look at the vid you'll see what I'm trying to explain.

Thanks,

Oh okay, I understand.

Basically, Jarvis did that by hand (no built in effect effect). You sort of have to sync it with the music, but it's not that difficult to do.

Maybe Jarvis can give a better explanation.

So..you mean the trains moving forwards and backwards? If so, I think I can answer that...

The simplest way to do it is to to take the clip of the roller coaster and copy and paste it a copy of it at the end of the clip. To fine tune it, one must cut the clips slightly so the roller coaster doesn't look like it disappeared then reappeared at the beginning again.

It usually requires that the only object moving the picture is the train, so the camera has to be held steadily.

I hope that makes sense.

Well I can't say it doesn't make sense since I have no idea what you're talking about I mean all of this is new to me and I guess once I get into actually making vids it'll become more clear.

Are there any tutorials on here as a guide?

Hey man first of all thanks for your interest in my videos. And my apologies for not seeing this sooner. Im gonna try my best to explain it as simple as possible for you man...

For the carolina cyclone (the purple coaster) I had the clip play unil 2:00 secs then I took it back to 1:00 and let it play to 1:08 secs and used that clip twice...still follow lol...then I used another clip that I started from 1:08 secs and played the clip out. Thats how I got that effect.

For the acrophobia clip I started the clip at 15:13 sec into the first clip then ended it at 17:13, the second clip started at 16:13 sec and ended at 16:21 secs to give it that "jump back" effect and the third clip started at 17:04 sec to give it the "push down" effect. Thats how I got that effect.

The dancing chucky clip was done the same way as the carolina cyclone where I start a clip stop it, go back a few fractions of a sec and play for a fraction of a sec copy that a few times and finish out.

The vortex (red coaster) started out the same was at the cyclone effect but I added a "jump" clip where I started about a sec or so back from where the previous clip ended to make it seem like the train jumped back.

Now for the one that gave me the most problems...the twoface effect (the backwards/foward clip). That was actually 2 videos in one but taken at the exact same spot in the exact same light. What I did was start clip A and ended it where the coaster was at a particular spot. Then I got clip B and started it where the train was at the same position as clip B ended. Copied each segment and BAM (in my best emeril lol) it looks like im rewinding the clips but its actually 2 different clips.

The boobs heh heh I said boobs...the boobs clip was just a shot of me zooming in and ending the first clip thru the zoom in and then making shorter segments of that and ending it where it would be close to the zoom out segment.

THe splash clip was done the same as the cyclone!

So as you see its no smoke and mirrors here just patience and precision AND a tripod! It would have been hard to do a majority of the clips especially the backwards/foward coaster clip because it required the 2 clips to be synomous. Now as far as the POV fusions....thats just an act of God lol lol!

I hope that helped you out and and im looking foward to seeing some of your work!

Hi Jarvis - thanks for your very informative post. I'm gonna have to print this out to get a better understanding of it because I read it late last night.

You definitely have one of my votes!

PS..I sent you a PM also.

no problem man...it looks difficult just reading but once you actually apply it you would see its very easy.
