So today i had my first trip to Norways largest theme park: Tusenfryd, with mixed feelings since i am an former employe of the park and my memories arent that good of the park is runned.

But my reason for comming was their newest addition Speed Monster! an intamin accelereator which i had hear nothing but good reviews of this ride:)

it was cloudy and raining from time to time today and i met up with one of my friends who still works there and i got a free friend pass from him.

i arrived the park at about 11 and everything was open.

i must say that i am glad the weather was so bad cos the longets line for speed monster was 20 min and the park was almost empty!!!

well i tell you about the SM first:

this ride is awesome! ive never been on a intamin before so this was my first experience. The station is not themed at all and is made made mostly out of steel.

Once airgates open this wierd safety spiel starts and it goes something like:

"Tespilots prepare for launch shortly *beep*

No loose objects allowed in cokpit, Check *beep*

All loose objects must be put in the lockers on opposite side of station check *beep*

Secure all pockets and close zippers, Check *beep*

And again for your own safety no loose objects in the cokpitk, check *beep*

All systems operative and clear, Zoom Zoom, Check *beep beep beep*

one of the funny things to do while in the que is to whatch all the people trying to secure their OTSR cos i have to admitt they ware HARD to pull down. A lot of girls and boys needed help to pull them down. I dont really have a favoritte seat except from the front cos you will have better view but on the airtime side there is not much difference from sitting in the back cos the trains are so short. BUT be prepared that in the bak you will get your head banged heavy on the twists.

Once the train is secured the operator goes to his panel and pushes the magic button and this huge engine roar sound from the the speakers on the launch track, the train pulls forward an connects to the catch car. The engine is still running. Trains goes a litte bit back, the anti-rollback fins goes down and the engine goes louder and ouder until your push heavy forward but still i must say the launch is

1. to short

2. no that forcefull

after that youl go up a steep hill and enters the pretzel loop around the escalators to the park and that is the most forceful part pf any ride ive been on i scandinavia. if the ops havent stapeld you in the station the g-forces in the loop will. Then you enter the banked helix turn which is the most "boring" part and then a bunny hop over the escelators again and then into the first twist. the two twist are funny but can give you some pain especially in the back. After the twist which it takes very fast and at this point the trains tends to rattle a bit before the final turn onto the final brake run and you stop right behind the other loading train.

this ride was great but i cant figure what designers and the park was thinkin of when they designed with only 750 ppl an hour capacity when it got up to 20 min line on a empty day when the weather was S**T. But stil finaly we have some serious steel coaster here in Norway. I think i got about 15 Rides on it. Tried all the seats and enjoyed the front best!

Personally i didnt think it was that much airtime on it but that may due to me being spoiled with airtime on the Thunder Coaster.

Overall a great little ride which isnt too extreme so everybody who is tall enough can enjoy it(to bad cos then the lines get even longer)

Now for the parks 2nd largest ride the Thunder coaster which i personally found to one one the beat coasters on earth those i have ridden but now it have just become a pain not worse than the Cyclone at SFMM but still Painfull. The ride starts good as aways with insane airtime on the second hill but after that it just gets way to rough. Another very uncomfortable thing a about this is the retraints instead of the thin litte seat belt buckle on the side of your seat like on most coasters. This one has huge aircraft style buckles right in the middle and when the op staple you as ususally on this one in crushes your family jewels esppecially when your flying of your seats at the hils tight into the lap bar and in between you have the buckle of hell also called the "nutcracker".

Its a shame because this used to be such a extreme good ride!

rest of the park was alright everything was running on full capacity and nothing closed which made every other ride just walk on.

another thing to mention about this park is the extreme prices, i know norway is expensive but this park is the worst. i had a large burger(140g) combo and it costed me 21 bucks. That is just to much!

But still a fun day and for all you guys going there on the trip LOOK FORWARD. this park might have the most rides but the few they got is good! but bring your o wn food unless you want your budget to go up in ine day.

PS: sorry, no pictures cos the girls i was with isnt that much into coasters as me and i pushed it enough going 15 times on SM if was to stand and pics of it to *dough*

I went to Tusenfryd the weekend after opening day and I had a blast. Speedmonster isnt that intense, but its still great fun. I didnt find the large turn after the pretzel loop boring at all. I liked that part because it just went faster and faster and faster. The only part which dissappointed me a bit was the hill through the pretzel loop.

Btw I thought Thundercoaster was fantastic in the rain. When the track is dry its almost boring, but in the rain it becomes a completely different ride. Floater airtime becomes ejector airtime, especially in the back seat. I didnt find it that painfull either with the exception of the hill where they take your picture in the backseat. That hill has the most extreme ejector airtime I have ever experienced on a wooden coaster. I do think that Thundercoaster is a bit too rough, but at the same time its awesome because it really feels out of control. I havent had so much fun on Thundercoaster since my first rides on it in 2002, and it has dethroned Balder as my number one wooden coaster. Thats only when its raining though

And youre right about the prices at Tusenfryd. The food there is REALLY expensive and its not that great either.

Nice trip report!
