I just got back from my "Long Weekend" trip to Atlanta to go to Six Flags over Georgia with my friend Todd. Lets just say my trip was full of exciting and wonderful things, some expected and some... not quite, Hehe.

I'll divide each day into separate posts, just because I'm not done editing the photos for Saturday and Sunday... just call me lazy

Day 1 (5/12): Traveling!

Nice day to travel... we left around 4:30pm from Orlando right after my friend Todd got off work. We were planning on leaving at 3:00pm, but he had to stay a little late, so delays our trip.

Day 2: Finally at SFoG!

We woke up at 7:45 to get ready to head to the park. We arrived around 8:50, which was good because the line to get into the park was already getting long, but we found a short line that only had about 5 people in it. As we were standing at the front gate they started testing Goliath, Cyclone and Georgia Scorcher around 9:15. At 9:30, they opened the park.

We walked quickly past Georgia Scorcher and headed straight to Goliath. When we got to the queue, there was hardly anybody there. We only had to wait two trains for the front row.

Goliath:

Only one word can describe this coaster: Incredible!

We took our seats in the Front Row, Todd didn't want to ride in the front, but I refused to ride anywhere else. (I got the far left) The ops came and checked our restraints. These seats are actually very comfortable and have a lot of room to move around in. They gave the all clear and we crawled slowly out of the station to the left and towards the 200ft ascent.

The lift was actually very steep, not as steep as SheiKra, but steep enough. We crested the hill and my hands went straight into the air. I wasn't used to riding a coaster that large without the "Predrop" at the beginning. Starting down the drop the first rows just hang there and you lean forward, almost feeling as if you're going to fall out. Then came the drop, and what an amazing one it is.

Speeding down and into a slight left hand curve you head straight up into the 2nd hill, providing great floater air the whole way. Down the largest of the drops into a large banked left hand turn and up into the 3rd hill which also provides great floater air. Rising back up, getting more air, and banking harshly into the helix.

The helix is one of few coaster elements where I have actually (Almost) blacked out... it was pretty intense despite its large radius. Down into the trim breaks (Which were turned off the whole day, yay!) and up into the 4th hill which gave great air. Down and up into the 120° banked horseshoe (Overbanks are awesome with only a lapbar!). Still having great speed we rise into the 5th hill which had the greatest moment of air this ride has to offer. Down and over two more great bunny hops, and up into the final turn where it takes your picture, say cheese! Over the last of the bunny hops which also gave excellent air and into the brakes.

To me, Goliath was well worth the hype and the drive up to SFoG. 10/10 from me.

After two rides on Goliath, one in front and one in back, we headed over to Deja Vu. While going down the exit ramp of Goliath I was talking to Todd about Deja Vu... some kid looked back at me and said "Oh, that ride is usually closed"... I looked at him and said "Shh! Don't jinx it!"

We headed down the hill towards Lickskillet with Deja Vu in the horizon... nothing seemed to be moving on the ride... I was sure it was closed, just my luck. Well, right as we were nearing the line I heard an air horn sound off twice then saw the train start up the lift. It was open! Finally I could get my Deja Vu credit after waiting 3yrs.

Deja Vu

I won't go on about this coaster since it's been out for a while and many people have ridden it.

Lets just say that I've never been as scared on a coaster as I was on this one. I've never experienced anything like it. While in the line they were assigning seats... I was praying that I would get the front, Todd on the other hand, was not, he didn't even want to ride.

Well, to our luck, we did get the front... row 1B (Front row, side seats). While waiting for our ride, the other riders started their ascent up the back spike, soon dropping and FLYING through the station. The look on Todd's and my face was probably priceless. At this point my heart was pounding. A few seconds later the train flew through the station again, but backwards. The amount of wind the train generated as it went through the station was unbelievable.

The train lowered back into the station slowly and the riders exited. The gates opened and we climbed aboard. Putting our seatbelts on then pulling the OTSR's down, the train was checked and given the all clear. The air horn sounded, the floor droped, and we started heading up the back spike. Hanging against our restraints and looking straight down, I didn't think it could get any worse.

Suddenly dropping and flying through the station, cobra roll, and vertical loop... up the second spike we went. The floating sensation as the train was slowing down was great. Watching as the end of the second spike came slowly towards us then suddenly dropping backwards (Amount of floating was also great here)... backwards we went through the whole ride.

Next came the worst part for me... as the train went through the station and up the back spike it got caught by the lift mechanism to lower us slowly into the station. When the train came to a sudden halt and we slammed forward into our restraints I thought I was going to fall straight down to my death. I've never been so thankful for OTSR's in my life.

Rating 10/10

After Deja Vu we went to Superman: Ultimate Flight. I've ridden Superman and it's still as good as I remembered it to be. I had forgotten how intense the Pretzel Loop is. We rode Once in back, Twice in front and once in 2nd row. This was Todd's favorite ride in the park, he said it almost tied with Goliath. I can't compare it to Tatsu yet, but hopefully I can at the end of this summer

Next up was Great American Scream Machine. This ride was surprisingly smooth for a wooden coaster, great moments of floater air on the hills and it kept its speed through the duration of its course. The headchopper at the end was great, but the sudden slam into the brakes was not. Rode twice in the front.

Yay! Another Vekoma coaster *Rolls eyes*... Ninja was our next ride. We rode it in the "Magic Seat" (Back car, first row)... it wasn't that bad, it did shake but Todd and I were tall enough that we didn't bang our head on the restraints. We only rode this ride once.

After Ninja it started to rain and lightning, all the rides shut down. Todd had to take his insulin so we walked through the rain to the car. He took his insulin and we sat in the car for about 15min then the rain stopped. We headed back into the park.

When we got back in the park we went to Georgia Scorcher. We waited about 30min for it to open. They had to test it and dry it out, that took a long time. Finally the ride opened and we had to wait about 15 more minutes. Last time I was at SFoG I rode it in the back row. This time we waited for the front. The standing sensation was alright, but nothing to rave over.

After the Scorcher we went to GA Cyclone... 45min to an hour wait... we skipped it and went to Acrophobia... 30min wait... skipped again.

Oh well, it was about 1pm now, so we decided to stop and get something to eat. We went to Panda Express. It was A LOT more expensive here then it is at the mall, but oh well, it was good.

After eating we went to Mind Bender, but it was still closed because of the rain. We decided to go to Batman: The Ride... what a bad decision, haha.

We got into the building with the jungle of steel queue bars. We bairly got to the door to enter it and the line started. The line filled the entire building. We waited... and waited... and waited some more. Todd almost fell asleep while waiting (See pic). But finally, after about an hour wait we got the Front Row.

This ride was just as intense as I had remembered it, if not more so because of the rain. As I left the ride I could barely walk because all of the blood had rushed to my feet. Five inversions in under a minute, insane!

After Batman we went to Mind Bender, finally it was open! We waited about 20min to ride and we rode the front row. A little more shaky than I had remembered it, but it was still an awesome ride filled with Schwarzkopf goodness! Nice air on some of the hills and great positive G's in the loops. Yay Lapbars!

After Mind Bender we went over to Canyon Blaster. This ride was surprisingly good for a kiddie coaster and was also very smooth. We only waited about 15min for it. (Okay, so I'm a credit whore, but not as bad as some of you! So shut up!)

We then went over to De... whateverthehellit'scalled Mine Train. This ride was HORRID! Bad transitions and was an overall boring coaster, not to mention the screaming little kids behind us. At least I can say I got the credit. This ride also wins the award for the Ugliest Station, what a putrid station! Yuck!

Next up was Acrophobia, Todd refused to ride it, he doesn't like heights or dropping. I, on the other hand, loved this ride. The feeling of falling when you're "Standing" and tilted out 15° is amazing! I rode it twice with only a 5min wait.

Back over to the Cyclone... 5min wait for the front row. This ride was okay, the first drop still has to be the best of any wooden coaster I've been on. Nice air during the ride and some nice laterals too. Trims were turned off so the train sped through the course.

After Cyclone we went back to GASM and Superman... at 9:45pm we ran to Goliath to try getting a night ride on it... we got there at 9:50 and the had closed the queue, ugh! No night ride this time

We went to the gift shop and I bought two Goliath shot glasses and upgraded my ticket to a season pass. We went to guest relations and the season pass processing center had closed for the day so I got a Season Pass Voucher.

We headed back to the hotel. When we got there we ordered Pizza and finished watching "The Chumscrubber" then we fell asleep, getting ready for our drive home the next day.

After getting my pass and last ride on Goliath we said goodbye to Six Flags and Atlanta and traveled home.

It was a great trip overall and I hope to head back there later on this summer!
