d_clark117 Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Hi I am planning a weeks trip to Germany in September this year. I would like to know the best parks to visit as we will not be able to go to them all. Also were are the best places to stay. We are flying to Cologne and have hired a car to get about. We have thought about going up to Heide Park first then travelling down to Europa Park. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Donna
MrMorgan Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 hello from germany. if you're flying into cologne, then you HAVE to go to phantasialand! it's right outside of cologne, it's a cute little park with some very unique rides and coasters, and they are opening the fantastic looking "black mamba" this summer. also close by is "movie park". heide park and europa park are way far apart from each other, and both in opposite directions of cologne. they're both good parks, too. (i would have to say actually that europa park is one of the best non-disney resort destination theme parks in the world). anyways. for a one week trip that's not too hectic, my advice would be do either phantasialand, movie park, holiday park, and europa park or phantasialand, movie park, heide park, and hansa park that way you can have travel days in between and really enjoy the parks. just my two cents.
SharkTums Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 ^Yeah, what he said! It really depends on how many parks you want to hit, and how many other days you want. My 'must hit' parks of Germany would be: - Europa - Holiday - Heide - Phantasialand - MoviePark
d_clark117 Posted February 11, 2006 Author Posted February 11, 2006 Hi Thanks for your help. We were thinking about trying to cram in all 5 parks but now it does look like too much to fit in one week. The suggestion of phantasialand, movie park, holiday park, and europa park sounds like the best option. We are thinking of doing this in reverse order so we finish at Cologne to catch the flight home. If anyone has any more ideas or suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Donna
