Well, this is a random topic, but not random funny. And I don't want any pity, because thats stupid...

For the past few months, I have felt, depressed. No, I'm not one of those emos that slit their wrists, wear all black, try to fit in girl pants, and blare Linkin Park or Simple Plan on their iPods. So now on topic, over the past few months I have been nothing but something thats "there" at school. You know, not really noticed by anybody and usually "the one they (popular kids) pick on". I'm not the stereotypical nerd though. Not only that, I'm one of the many kids that wish they were popular. Yes, I think the popular kids have "the life" (getting laid and wasted/stoned with the greatest of ease) and end up getting "mommy/daddy's inheritance/CEO Job at some corporation".

I dunno why I am so paranoid, but what do you expect from a teenager? There are other things I want to talk about, but I prefer not to disclose.

So, should I go to a shrink (or counselor)?

I don't think there is anything wrong with you... it's just life.

But it can help if you have someone you can trust to talk to.

High School was no fun for me... that's why when I turned 18 my junior year I went away and worked at Cedar Point.

New friends and no one to judge me about my past.

I say just find someone to talk to... not someone from school though.

I actually truly understand how you feel, and I know what you're saying. You sound a lot like me when I was your age. I know its rough man, and it's hard not being part of the in crowd. Trust me when I say that there is a lot more to life than gettin' laid and partying every weekend. I actually made it into the in crowd. Yeah, I had some good times, but I also hid some of my true characteristics. I essentially wasn't who I really was. In the long run, popularity isn't going to matter, which kind of gave me an empty feeling sometimes. Once you graduate high school, it seriously disappears. Everybody is on the same playing field come college. Just be who you are and be happy. If that includes trying to fit in with the "popular" crowd, so be it. Be happy, just don't lose yourself.

As for talking to somebody, I honestly don't know everything that goes on in your life and how much it's bothering you, but it's never a bad idea. Contrary to some beliefs, you don't have to be crazy to see a counselor. I'm not going to lie, I've done it twice. I went for a while my senior year and I went again this past fall. Those people do wonders and can really help you turn your life around. If things are really bothering you, then I would recommend it. You'll really be glad you did it, and it's completely confidential.

Once out of high school real life begins and you can look back and realize that most of the things you thought were important (i.e. Being popular, etc.) really aren't.

I've got the same thing, but i think you shouldn't give it that much thought, just live your live, finish school, get a job, ride some coasters, it'll all go just fine, just keep the thumbs up and you'll be fine

EDIT: btw, having an open conversation with someone high at your school, called counselor in holland, dunno your version, can really help getting and keeping your head up
