So I was bored yesterday...decided to head down to balboa park for the hell of it since I hadn't been there for a while.

They put up some nativity scenes every year in the organ pavilion.

The Spreckels Organ Pavilion. That whole big building in the center is a pipe organ.

Balboa as in Rocky Balboa? I really like the "The city of San Diego has no involvement" sign. It's a good sign that the local government is liberal and will not show signs of favoring or endorsing a specifc religion because it would be unconstitutional and would not respect the wishes and religions of other people. Okay, that was a little too political. Balboa Park looks like a nice place. Thanks for sharing these somewhat political pics.

Regarding the park's name...

 

1910 - "A contest was held to rename City Park. The winning entry was Balboa Park, suggested because the Park offered a wide view of the Pacific Ocean, and explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa was the first European to see the Pacific."
