Because 3rd party developers think they can get the $60 because it's a new system and more expensive developer costs. I think it's horrible but I don't think it will be a problem for long.

 

Games have a hard time selling for $49.99 as it is now (look how fast some games have price drops like Beyond Good And Evil dropped from $49.99 to $19.99 in less than 2 months!), so I think after the holiday rush, few people will be willing to spend $59.99 on a game.
