Flash pass at six flags

Recommended Posts

Hi,

We are four guys, planning on visiting six flags great america. The price for the platinum flash pass is about $110. We were wondering if we could just get 1, and then take turns to use the flash pass and ride the coasters. Will that be a good idea instead of each of us buying the flash pass? Are there any caveats with this? I'm not sure whether it is allowed as per the books, but we were planning to give it a try.

Thanks

You can add up to five additional users on a flash pass. There is an extra fee, I'm not sure what it is, but obviously well under the price of another FP. It's a great option if you're not concerned about riding together, although the waits even with flash pass may be significant.

That would work with regular or gold but not with Platinum. Everyone using Platinum gets a wristband and if someone goes to a Flash Pass entrance with a Platinum Flash Pass and not the wristband, depending on the employee, they may not let the person enter the Flash Pass line.

With the prices, I know a Great Adventure got rid of the discount for extra users on 1 Flash Pass and lowered the price. Platinum used to be $120 for 1 person and less after that, now it is $110 for person no matter how many people are using the Flash Pass

The Gold flash pass would be the best for sharing because of the wristband issue with platinum. You can add people to your flash pass but it's no cheaper than if everyone got their own Flash Pass. Also, the prices of the Flash Passes change frequently. Great America charges $140 for Platinum this Saturday but only $110 for Sunday.

Thanks guys, That was very informative

I shall try this with gold pass, but researching more about how the platinum flash pass actually works, Do they always see the wristband ? Anyone who has ridden with platinum flash pass?

I've done the Platinum flash pass at Magic Mountain and Gold at Great America. The wristband for Platinum at Great America allows you to immediately re-ride any ride (except Goliath), and obviously the wristband can't be transferred and they always check for the wristband if you're re-riding, but you don't need the wristband just to use the flash pass line and not re-ride. So if you bought one Platinum flash pass and shared it, you can take turns using the flash pass line, but only one person would get re-rides. I would recommend getting 2 gold flash passes and taking turns with it.

First, let's do the facts. Platinum can be used with or without a wristband as wristbands are only used for re-rides. The line attendant does not know, nor do they care, what level pass you are using, only that your device says your time has arrived. Platinum is required for Goliath, so a deciding factor for many buyers.

Your stragedy has flaws. Even with a gold pass, it could take 15 minutes to ride, as it usually just gets you to the station and especially if your waiting for a specific row. That's an hour of waiting for four people taking turns. You have to at least buy two passes to cut that in half. Platinum is also only going to give one Goliath ride per pass, so two riders will be left out if you register two users to your pass. Riding coasters is an experience best shared with your party is it not? I would recommend riding Goliath first and then using 2 Gold passes for the rest of the coasters.

Regardless of which level of flash pass you choose, you really need to have a plan to make the most of your time and money when using the flash pass. Map out everything you want to do. Once you've passed the Flash Pass checkpoint for your first ride, you should immediately make the reservation for your second ride. You can enter the Flash Pass line at or after your reservation time, just not before, so you won't lose your reservation if you're late.
