Superbatboy Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I have a few days off coming up in a week in a half, and since I don't have anything planned for those days I'm seriously considering travelling out east to get on 3 of my bucket list coasters Skyrush, I305, and Wicked Cyclone. I only have 4 days to do it, so I'm wondering which location is best to land in first (PA, MA, or VA/MD) and which direction to go from there. I already know car rental will be robbery, but I know plane tickets vary based on airport and day of departure etc; Any advice how I should go about this for you east coast people? Thanks in advance
LiftThrill Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 First off, many people go to SFNE and then use Lake Compounce's after 4pm price to ride Boulder Dash in the same day. I'd consider doing that.
larrygator Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 It already sounds like you are concerned with costs therefore if I was you I would do a lot of research myself first on the combination of air travel and rental car online. You never know when a certain route will have a good deal. I don't think there is a simple answer to your questions. You may be able to save quite a few bucks by being flexible in city you fly into, I'm assuming you are returning your rental car to the original airport. I know rentals cars in the NYC area will easily be the highest. Include ALL possible airports in the region in your search, there are many options.
ejot Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 What's the exact schedule ... is the trip for the 30th - 2nd? Are you fitting flights in that window as well, IE your 29th and 3rd are full days? BDL, EWR, BWI, DCA, PHL all give you the same exact round trip driving route to/from the parks and have direct flights from LAX. There may be others. RIC adds 45m drive time. JFK and LGA will be much more costly to rent a car. You'll probably run into a couple hours of traffic delays in total, depending on when you're in the NYC area and/or on I95. I'd say about 18-19h total driving time including to/from hotels. Cheapest car rental in order looks to be: BWI, PHL, BDL, DCA, EWR.
