edgegunnerfan Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Happy Wednesday, TPR folks! I'm relatively new here, so I'll start with a short introduction. My name is Ben and I'm from Wisconsin. My home park is Six Flags Great America, so please let me know if any questions come up about that park. I'm going on a trip out to Virginia in a couple weeks and we're taking a day trip to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg. I figured that I would ask this group for any advice that they have for planning, like what rides are best/worth the wait, what rides I should avoid should the line be above a certain length, where I should eat (within the park), and anything else that may be useful. Thanks in advance -Ben
Homeboy23 Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 You can't go wrong really eating anywhere in the park. I do prefer Trapper's Smokehouse, but when are you going? Up until the 29th of this month on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday's is their Food & Wine Festival which offers some great food. You can see Chuck and Steven's trip reports in the BGW thread on the main forum which show some of the food. As for rides, except for Alpengeist on some days (in my experience) are usual people eaters so don't be fooled by the looks of the queue. A Verbolten queue that is to the entrance of the line usually only lasts 35 minutes or so if they are running 4-5 trains. If you don't want to wait, just purchase Quick Queue And if you are into watching shows at all, go see Celtic Fyre.
coasterbill Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 I would also suggest the pretzels in the place across from Verbolten. They're amazing. Also, ride Apollo in the very back row. It will deliver way more airtime than any B&M should (translation: still not in the same league as Intamin but really, really good). Don't miss Escape from Pompeii either. It won't get you nearly as wet as similar rides in other parks and the theming is great. If you ride it in the front you barely get wet at all.
edgegunnerfan Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 Cheers, all. The park was unbelievable. Absolutely no wait for anything. I think the longest I had to wait for anything was about 15-20 minutes for Verbolten, then 10-15 for Curse of DarKastle. I did lunch and a show in Germany, then did dinner at Trapper's Smokehouse. I'll post a full trip report later, but this definitely took over my top spot for best park.
