MarkJWilson Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Myself and my girlfriend usually take a big annual trip to somewhere in the states. We were going to visit San Francisco this year but the planning seemed difficult and hotels there seem crazy expensive. She got the idea of driving from our home town (Calgary) to somewhere near yellowstone national park and renting a cabin. I thought it was a brilliant idea, as long as there's some sort of amusement park we can visit on the way. The only one I can find that's anywhere close is Silverwood Theme park. Seems to be about an 8 hour drive from Calgary to there, then about 8 hours from there to somewhere near yellowstone. Our holiday days are Sept 20th to the 28th. How many days should we plan to spent at silverwood? Unfortunately the waterpark's final day of the season seems to be Sept. 1st so that's out. The hours and days when we could potentially be there are both Saturday and Sunday, from 11am - 7 pm. If we left Friday evening we could make it about half way, then drive the other half in the morning to be there saturday morning and then all of sunday, then drive to a camping destination. Is 2 days to much? Any other parks or such to visit? We were thinking of renting a small cabin (At perhaps KOA campgrounds?) Anyone have any good recommendations for places to stay or things to do around that area? We were thinking of white river rafting and hiking and such. Thanks! Mark
SharkTums Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 There's not much out that way. Silverwood is pretty much it as far as 'real' parks. One day there should be fine.
