Karsaib Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Hello guys ! I recently got back into playing rct2 after not having played for say... Probably 2 years now, and sharing it with you guys would be a good motivation for me to actually spend some time playing it. I used the "create your own Six Flags Theme Park" scenery, as I'm quite a bit lazy to create a custom scenario myself. I'd also be lost with all the elements to chose from so I just decided to work with what the game provides me with this scenario. Without furter ado, here are a few screenshots. I'm still working around the areas around the entrance. The big lake in he middle preventing me from having a very large mainstreet, I actually have to start spreading apart the different rides. I'm not going to build a very packed park however, but rather try to focus on making it look good, and try to hopefully fill up everything. Atm, the park has a Carousel, A bumper cars ride, some weird sickening ride, a tiny wooden roller coaster and a single station monorail that I will expand as the park grows in size. Here are the screenshots : The park entrance, completely redone from the default scenario. Added a few shops and restroom for good measure and covered up everything : Right from the left of the entrance is the wooden roller coaster, called "Little Dipper". Tried to make the layout as realistic as possible, with a vintage feel to it : Progressing further into the park, straight ahed of the entrance is the (very) tiny main street, with all kinds of shops packed up together and nicely themed, as well as the monorail station inside the left building : And here's the area I'll be working on in the very near future. The 2 rides will be completely covered and themed in a similar fashion, matching the mainstreet : And finally a nice overview of what's been done so far. You can glimpse the start of a pier that I'll will be working on soon : That's all at the moment. I will be working slow and update every few days. I haven't decided what kind of ride I'll implement next, if you guys have any suggestions, feel free ! I also wanna mention that my style is quite heavily inspired by FAON, an amazing rct2 player that posts his work on youtube every once in a while. Thanks for reading through, any comment/suggestion is welcome ! <3
IronWolfman Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I really like your park! Such a great use of the in-game scenery! Your realism is fantastic, and I love your flat ride selection. Your wooden coaster is my favorite attraction in the park with a very nice, realistic layout. Is there a timeline and/or location your park is set in? That could help with the naming process.
Two Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Looks quite nice, although I have a few nitpicks. Take in mind these comments aren't directed in any negative way, because your park looks very nice. It's just that it could be improved beyond what it is now. 1) Your terrain is good, but it could be improved. Use shrubs at edges of clearings, and add rocky patches or sandy clearings for texture. I like to use dirt, grass, and dirt/grass when creating a park. It makes things much better. 2) Your buildings aren't horrible, but they aren't as good as they could be. Right now the centre building is somewhat, well, bland, and it could definitely use some crosshatching or wall layering. The flowers on the roof are also out of place for me. 3) I like the woodie, but the colour scheme irks me. The red and black doesn't fit to me, although you may think differently. Besides these comments, your park is coming along very well and homely! I hope to see more in the future.
coasterbill Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 NCSO is all the rage right now... very nice work. My only suggestion is that I'd actually prefer the monorail go around the wood coaster and not through it. For some reason it seems awkward to me, but maybe I'm alone in this.
