eddytheviper Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Hello all! Welcome to a thread with a mish-mash of photo TR's, maybe some trivia you may not have known and some terrible jokes in the captions... sorry about that. First of all, we travel back in time to summer 2013 at Disneyland Paris way back on a semi-busy Sunday in July. If I am going to be honest, I wasn't expecting great things from the park. All reports online pointed to experiencing an unloved Disney park with bad staff, queue jumping GP and an below par experience but actually, it wasn't so bad. Myself and my French speaking friend arrived Sunday morning for 10am opening and had 3/4 of a day to cover most of both parks, the race was on... *Insert this castle is bigger than California's joke here* So, as we arrived at the train station and read "Bienvenue à Disneyland Paris!" I couldn't help but translate it to.. Yeah, Mini Disney... Good luck to us... But actually, it wasn't as bad a day as I had worried it might be. Woo-hoo... Time for yet another dark ride! Might change this thread name to Dark Ride: The park. Wait... what? This is just the trippiest idea for a boat ride ever. Without the brainwashing happy music... this would cause some serious nightmares. Time for another coaster, luckily, unlike Indie, this ride kicked some serious ass. Dare I say even better than it's older sibling ol' big white at WDW. Also, IMO, this has got to be the prettiest Space Mountain exterior I've seen. I mean come on, this attention to detail really is special. I'm sorry WDW but, you've got nothing on this. Another dark ride? Yes please. Official TPR Haunted Mansion lover here. I had one shot at this photo, It's not bad. But it's no Hockeyman55 photo. Time to exhaust the urh, less than expansive coaster collection here with another classic. Big Thunder Mountain did not disappoint, good fun, forceful. I also liked how it was set on the water but my god, that chain lift is deafeningly loud. Sort it out DLP, please! Some nice theming inside the castle itself. Again, bits that I wish WDW had. The dragon downstairs is a real nice touch. Shame I didn't have my tripod to take a photo of it though, was just too darn dark. Anyway, short but sweet part to this TR, after rushing around the park since 9am opening, we had managed to hit most of the big attractions at the park by 12.30am... not bad going aye? Next stop, next door at the studios! Part 2 coming soon! Second stop of the day... Pirates Of The Caribbean. I forgot to take a photo of India Jones, oops. I'm a bad TR'er, please forgive me. This part of the ride STILL makes me laugh, doesn't matter where I am in the world, it's still brilliant. Wenches, gold, guns and some story line? What's more to like from this dark ride?? This park is just so cute and tiny *Pats it on the head* Oh yeah, MORE GOLD. AND DRUNK PIGS. I think they should be an essential part of any dark ride. DRUNK PIGS ARE AWESOME.
jynx242 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Hey - thanks for the pictures! Glad it was better than anticipated!!
eddytheviper Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 Welcome to part two of our rushed day, apologies in advance for the lack of photos of this park but, we really had to rush it and we didn't think much about taking photos for the TR After a short hop across the plaza, we enter Walt Disney Studios. Note the, Earffel Tower in the back (Yes, it really is called that). I quite like entering via the studio actually, it's kind of neat. It's an condensed indoors version of Orlando's street, see which parts you recognize? Hello French Tower Of Terror I love, LOVE this ride. Now for several photos of the queue... Whilst it's only a pre-preshow room, LOOK at the detailing! Suck it Six Flags! After the pre-show we enter the famous boiler-room. Which, might I add, is more visually impressive than it's sister in Disneyworld. And this is where my friend began to freakout. I gave her a brief of what to expect but, I was wrong... didn't actually know it had a completely different sequence. She was not happy with me. We were at the end of a huge group through the pre-show room so, although we had a long wait, there was no-one behind us... Hello switchbacks, how ya doing? After TOT, we took a long walk around the park trying to get on other rides, Crush Coaster, RC Racer etc, we unfortunately gave up as they were posting + 1Hour waits and we didn't have the time for it. We eventually decided to endure the 45 minutes wait (In reality over an hour) for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster (Which, was okay but not very memorable for me) then called it a day to go home at 4pm! Thanks for reading!
