tarheel1231 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Intamins are great and outstanding coasters. Most of them annually make the best steel/wood coaster lists. They have ejector airtime and grey out forces. My question is, why do they break down and why do they cause maintenance issues? They are great coasters, but some of them seem to be down for maintenance. Maybe you could elaborate on this?
robbalvey Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 When you push the envelope, it comes with a price. Many Intamin's are usually doing things that have never been done before, take that new drop tower at Busch Gardens Tampa. Where as B&M usually do things that they have done before, or are similar to things they have done before. If you want something reliable that just "works", you buy a Toyota. But if you want something that pushes the envelope that is going to require a lot more attention, but HAULS ASS AND MAKES PEOPLE GO WOW!!! You buy a Ferrari.
TPDave Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I think it's also worth pointing out that over time some of the rides that are seen as unreliable do improve and have equally good uptime to other manufacturers. As far as manufacturing and design goes this is a relatively low volume industry so "on the job" improvements can be made as lessons are learnt about what works and what doesn't.
