fraroc Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Hey guys, I'm right now trying to plan ahead for summer 2013 since classes already began 2 days ago I've been meaning to ask, I live in Long Island, NY, is Canada's Wonderland worth the trip? I saw POVs for Leviathan and Behemoth and both rides look bad as hell, also it seems to have a very good variety of roller coasters. With your standard no frills but tried-and-true steel track looper (Dragon Fyre) Suspended coaster (Vortex) Inverted coaster (Flight Deck/Afterburner whateverthehelltheycallit) A couple of world-class woodies....I have a feeling I'd really like it there. But then theres the cost of driving from LI to Vaughn, and plus i've never been outside the continental U.S and I have no idea on whether or whether not Canadians take kindly to Americans, especially loud and obnoxious (stereotype ALERT!) New Yorkers, and I have a feeling that it's going to be this big production just to go an amusment park in Canada. My other plan is to go to both Kings Dominion in early June and Cedar Point in late August. I loved KD when I went and I'd love to go again, and I'm dying to ride GateKeeper, but Cedar Point requires getting my weight down from 249 to 195 in a nine month period, which I can probably do. Which plan do you think is better, one vacation to Canadas Wonderland or two vacations to Cedar Point and Kings Dominion?
I305KD Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I haven't been to CW but I have been to Toronto. I'm from northern NJ and they are really nice people out there. And go to CP during the last week of August. That's when I went in 2011. There weren't many lines at all. Another recommendation, stay at a Cedar Point hotel. They let you in an hour early and it's an easy way to get to the park.
beatle11 Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Visiting parks in Canada is very much the same as it is in the US. It isn't a "big production" as you might be worried about. Leviathan and Behemoth are two completely different, world class B&M's, and Vortex is a very good arrow suspended coaster. Beyond that most of their coasters are average at best. The two major woodies are very rough. The park is however, very pretty, and Toronto is a nice city, beyond the sub par public transportation.
