Kafka Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I apologize if this has been discussed before, but im planning to take about seven to nine days to travel from St Louis to the north eastern corner of the US. On the way i am planning to hit Cedar Point, Kennywood, Hershey Park, Dorney park, and Six Flags Great Adventure. If it was possible, i was considering driving a bit further to go to Six Flags New England since its only a few more hours away. I was planning to spend a couple days a Cedar Point since ive already been there and have the majority of the credits. I think i can go through kennywood and Dorney Park in a day each respectively. The parks I wasn't sure about were Hershey Park and Six Flags Great Adventure. I was thinking of trying to get to HP around five one day, take advantage of the demo day and then spend another full day at the park. I am entirely unsure how much time I need at Six Flags Great Adventure To make this easier to consider Cedar Point- 2 days Kennywood- 1 day Hershey Park 1 and a half days Dorney Park 1 day Six Flags Great Adventure 2-3 days Six Flags New England? not even sure if possible Does this seem doable? I know it will be a lot of driving, but i think it will be a lot of fun with my group of friends. Thank you in advance for the advice -Kafka-
ernierocker Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 (edited) I would highly recommend adding Six Flags New England as well as Lake Compounce/Quassy to that trip. You would be within 3-4 hours of those parks when you are at Six Flags Great Adventure and they sport two of the top coasters in the world. You could easily do SFNE one day (with a Q-bot purchase) and then one day at Lake Compounce/Quassy. If Q-bots are an option, you could get one at SFGAdv and easily do that in one day as well. As far as your duration for the parks: You wouldn't need 3 days at SFGAdv even if you didn't buy Qbot that is way too long to spend there. Hersheypark is a big park and can get extremely crowded but as long as you get there before opening, it should be doable in one day. But that will be a very long day. Dorney and Kennywood are definitely doable in one day. Although, I'll just throw this out there: Knoebels>>>>>>>Dorney Park. Edited January 18, 2012 by ernierocker
Kafka Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 The people i go with rarely get Q-bots, so ill discuss the idea with them. If not is it possible to do the park in a day, if we are willing to spend one very long day at the park? I considered Lake Compounce when i made the park listing, but didnt know about the time. We mainly want to go to Dorney Park due to the fact that I can go through the park fairly inexpensively and I would like to ride all of the Morgan Hypercoasters.
robbalvey Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I would STRONGLY recommend Q-Bot at Great Adventure. You can easily do everything, multiple times, in one day (assuming it's like a 10am - 10pm day) at Great Adventure with a Q-Bot. And that would give you a second day to either do a few more non-coaster things (which honestly there isn't much of), or go do another park. Coming from all the way from St. Louis, and NOT getting a Q-Bot at SFGAdv seems like a huge mistake. --Robb
Kafka Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 Looking at it, it makes the most sense to get one. Ill do my best to convince them that this is a worthwhile endeavor. Ill admit ive never used one before because I am relatively new to these kinds of trips. Last year was the first time Ive been to a park outside of my home park of Six flags STL. I definitely am thankful for the advice. I think i may take a day or two at Great adventure, hopefully one with a q-bot to get all the credits and another day to go around the park riding anything we feel like riding again before leaving. If we do this it is entirely possible to go to SF New england, which is great because I would love to ride Bizarro. thanks again! -Kafka-
sspaz1000 Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Another vote for the Q-Bot's at Great Adventure. This is my "home" Six Flags park. With a Q-bot, you can easily get all the coaster credits, and walk around. Yes, it can be expensive but instead of waiting in lines for 2+ hours, easily justifies the cost of Q-Bot. I'm also of the Knoebels > Dorney. But I understand Dorney being the choice for more coasters. If you can swing it really consider adding Lake Compounce or Six Flags New England. Lake Compounce offers a great variety of flat rides, along with Boulder Dash (It's Boulder Dash, that speaks for itself ) And Bizarro is a great coaster.
