08stien Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 The much diverse Mitchell Family Maniacs decided to take on the challenge of Coasting For Kids 2011 event at Kings Island this weekend as we were proud to raise money to support the wonderful Give Kids the World Village. In short half of us got our butts totally kicked by the event and only 2 members of our team made it through the morning 4 hours of the marathon getting in 58 rides on the Red Racer without getting off(other than to switch seats). The afternoon marathon was cut short due to storms in the area. Much love to Kings Island for supplying free bottled water all day, WAY awesome ride ops that supplied KI trivia and laughs all morning, as well a free lunch and lots of great prizes in a lunch time raffle drawing(the coolest prize won being a type writer copie of a press release for The Beast, before the Beast even had a name...ooooooo aaaaah) Not alot of pictures sorry, but had alot of fun as you will see... We arrive bright at early and the White, Black, Ginger, Tall, Short, Large, Small, Cute, Weird, diversity powers of the Mitchell Family Maniacs have come together to take on The Racer Behind the scenes walk back to Racer, ooo aaah Little D spots more diversity, yay diversity! We made it! "How many rides does it take in a row to become a Coaster Outthusiast?" won for joke of the day Ride 2 and morale is still high... The group is holding strong after 5 rides and Jacob makes sure he doesnt get tagged on facebook 10 rides in front row riders get off from wind burn, 1 guy fell out, 2 people gained 4 pounds from free bottled water and can no longer get 2 inches slack on their seatbelt, and everyone on a wheel seat got a migraine 15 rides in "what are u a girl or somethin?" at 20 rides I am forced to get off due to the shame and embarrassment of stomach sweat marks But the toughest of our family members ride on "our ancestors were slaves and ur gonna cry about a wooden coaster?" they say Action shot attempt as our two remaining team members try to get on the Cincinnati evening news after consecutive ride 55 morale still high? Solo ride FTW! lunch, nerdy prizes, end caption, Add the file 4 hours of marathon down, 4 to go afternoon was cut short due to weather, but you can see who the real winner was!...Thanks you for reading, and Thanks Kings Island and GKTW Village for hosting a great event for a greater cause
Sir Clinksalot Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Awesome stuff. Weird that they gave you all the shirts before and Knott's didn't give us the shirts until after (which I thought was a little odd). Would have probably made more sense if we were wearing the shirts.
timberskara Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Yay, thanks for posting! Great photos and report-- looks like you guys had a lot of fun. As someone who gets to see the mission of Give Kids The World come to life each day, I can't thank you enough for your support. If you are ever in the Orlando area, I'd love to give your family a tour. Way to go!
