robbalvey Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 (edited) I hate polls like this. You can only REALLY have good data if everyone that votes has been on ALL of those rides, which very few people, not even myself, on this forum have. So it automatically makes the poll pointless and the results invalid. Here, let me finish the poll for you. 1. Goliath Six Flags Magic Mountain - Because more than likely, more people have been on this one than the rest of them. 2. Goliath Six Flags Over Georgia - Most likely 2nd most popular. 3 - 5 - Who cares? The real winner here is Walibi Hollard. There. Poll completed. Thread Closed. Edited July 24, 2011 by robbalvey
robbalvey Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 (edited) I feel like my last response might have been too harsh or snarky. Here's my brain dump - A poll like this makes no sense because the end result is "corrupt" if the voters cannot actually compare rides they haven't been on. A better question would have been "Which of these Goliath coasters have you ridden?" And then EVERYONE who takes the poll would have been able to give REAL input, rather than lopsided input. And really, that is what would have happened anyway. Because how many people have been on more than 1 Goliath? 2 Goliaths? Let alone ALL FIVE to produce good data? So if you are going to make a poll, make it something where the end result ACTUALLY MEANS SOMETHING, rather than it just being totally pointless. If you want to know data about Goliath, you could ask: - Which of these Goliath's is closest to where you live? - How many of these Goliath's have you ridden? - Which of the following is a better name for a roller coaster than "Goliath?" Choose one: - Sandra Bullock - Htailog - Born Free! - Super Orange Fast Thing - Waffle Step Or, really, a better poll would be: "How many people actually THINK about the Polls they're creating?"* Just trying to help the forum have better content, that's all. Carry on.... * © Richard Sussmann Edited July 24, 2011 by robbalvey
