Yamez Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 (edited) I've twittled my twanger for too long watching other folks' parks and commenting on them. So I've decided to start a new park, and offer it up to the TPR greats. All suggestions are welcome, I have a lot of learning to do, especially when it comes to terraforming and structure building/themeing. With the introductions out of the way, I'll give you the story! I hope you enjoy it! July 19th, 1998 Hello there, my name is Alexai Rouvert. I live in the city of Cortez, Colorado and just to the northeast of here a section of desert just went up for sale! I've gone ahead and bought it out for a fairly cheap price and I'm planning on making a small amusement park to hopefully draw some of the tourists from the nearby Mesa Verde National Park, Monument Valley, and Four Corners tourist destinations. Hopefully if all goes well I can make a nice profit and make Cortez a premiere tourist destination in CO! If I can get big enough perhaps the city will be willing to give me some tax breaks! I've decided to name the park Crystal Sands Amusement Park, as the sand around here has an almost crystalline quality about it. It glitters so prettily! Here's a few pictures of the land: A beautiful mesa juts out toward the back of the plot. Its quite high up here, isn't it? The height varies so much, I lost my breath frequently while touring the property! Even on top of the Mesa the land just can't stay completely flat! Construction is slated to begin soon, but here's what I have planned: Several small carnival rides, bought from a traveling fair that stops near town every year. A small family roller coaster, from the ride manufacturer Vekoma. A custom built wooden roller coaster, to be my flagship ride built by the wonderful folks over at Great Coasters International. I think it'll make great use of the terrain! I'll have some pictures of construction and the concept art for the coasters tomorrow, but for now here's a picture of the entryway that's already been built: This will house our offices and the small path leading through it is where you'll be going through to enter the park! Yamez Posted August 23, 2010 Author Posted August 23, 2010 October 31, 1998 Sorry about the delay in updates, things got busy very quickly as soon as the construction crews arrived. I've got a ton of things to show you today, with details on the two coasters being built and a number of other rides! First off I'll show you the construction site for the children's area: Just bunches of dirt and sand now. But there are a few structures growing out of it! Pieces have already started arriving! I'm told this is where the coaster will be going. The two buildings are the station and the on-ride photo booth. Getting your picture on the coaster with mom or dad is going to be a great way to remember your visit! Here's some concept art for the children's area, it will feature a small rodeo marry-go-round, a spiral slide themed to a rattle snake, and the family coaster "Gunslinger" Gunslinger is going to be great for attracting families. Standing only 45ft tall, its pretty easy for the younger ones to tackle. It has a top speed of 35 mph though, so it still gives quite a thrill! This is where the GCI twister is going. They've already started digging to get ready to pour footers! "Untamed" is the custom GCI twister ordered for the park. It features an 85ft spiraling first drop, 10 moments of airtime, a top speed of 51 mph, and various crossovers and head choppers! Its sure to thrill the masses! The other view of "Untamed", showing off its twisted layout. The twisted first drop. This is where you hit the max speed of 51mph! The overall layout of "Untamed" Current progress of the entire construction site. We're getting there! I'll have some more details later on the other rides coming to the park, and quick construction update when I swing by the offices. A.R.
paradisecoaster Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 The thing that struck me here, is that none of your buildings are tall or big. You should consider making bigger buildings, cause this will add up to the realism that I suppose you're trying to achieve.
