KingB24 Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Hi, I was wondering if anybody has some tips for visiting Carowinds. It's looking pretty good that we're going to go next weekend, and I'm looking for an idea of how to make my way around easily and make use of my time. We'd be going on a Saturday. What are the crowds usually like? My dad, my cousin, and I are going. My dad and I have been before (just once) but neither of us really remember what it was like. So, thank you in advance for any tips!
Skycoastin Steve Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Saturdays can vary in crowdedness, but even then, you'll be able to do everything. Here's the best advice I can offer. If you don't get there well before the park opens, don't do Intimidator first. EVERYONE goes to Intimidator first. The line for Afterburn will be a virtual walk on for the first hour of the day, so if that's when you get there, hit Afterburn first. Thunder Road will also be a walk on, so hit that next. The line for Intimidator won't really go down until noon, so you can even re-ride Afterburn and Thunder Road if you want. If you feel like going back and waiting for Intimidator, then you can. However, the back of the park is also DEAD until almost noon, so get Cobra and Ricochet out of the way, as their lines tend to back up pretty badly. I would honestly say if you ignore Intimidator for the first couple hours (easier said than done), you can get all the other coasters done in just a couple hours. By the early/mid afternoon, it won't be any longer than a 15-20 minute wait.
KingB24 Posted August 25, 2010 Author Posted August 25, 2010 Sorry for the late response, but thanks. We leave Friday and are coming back Sunday, and we got two-day tickets. I believe we're going Friday night and Saturday. It sounds like the weather will be nice, so I'm hoping the crowds aren't going to be that bad.
