Just when you thought you had heard it all when it comes to evacuating an airport....

A security checkpoint at Tulsa International Airport was shut down after a suspicious object was found Wednesday, but after examining it, officials said they don’t believe it was a threat.

Security officials with the Transportation Security Administration found an item in a package that looked to security officials like an explosive device about 4:10 p.m., said Michelle Evans, the airport’s marketing coordinator.

Officials cleared the area, getting the waiting passengers at least 300 feet from the security checkpoint while officials examined the suspicious device, Evans said.

Airport security officials took the item to a remote location to determine whether it was a threat, and they “believe it to be a novelty item,” she said.

The checkpoint was reopened by 4:30 p.m., she said.

Evans was unsure whether the TSA detained anyone after the incident.
