thrillrider Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 (edited) We went to walt Disney world for 10 days last summer, and again for 7 more days about a month later. We did 2 trips....one with just the adults, and one with my daughter. We stayed at 2 different resorts while we were there. The first trip. we stayed at the coronado springs resort, and the next time around, we stayed at pop century. I prefer pop over coronado. The rooms were the same size, and the only difference was the theme of the room and a few amenities that we did not even have time to use. The price was almost twice as much for coronado than what it was at pop century. We were not in the room long enough to enjoy the hotel that much anyway. I am just going to mix the pictures from both trips together, otherwise it's just going to be confusing. We did all 4 theme parks for multiple days, and we did blizzard beach for a few hours as well. We had the park hopper pass, and that really helped us take advantage of all the parks. The days that we went to animal kingdom, they closed early. So we were able to go spend the whole evening at another park and take advantage of the extra magic hours as well. Being that this is such a large trip report,I am going to do several updates, as it would take me forever to do it all at once. So anyways....on to the pictures. Our hotel for the first leg of the trip. random sign. The registration area. The hotel looks nice. Fountain in lobby. Hotel entrance. There is a lake in the middle of the resort. Here is the room. It was the exact same size as a pop century room, but twice the price. Here is the pop century room...you be the judge. Crapper Here is what the view from our room looked like. That would suck if someone fell ito these while comming home drunk from pleasure island. ....It actualy happend to my friend. They have a really cool looking pool. Looking across the lake at the main resort building. The resort is very photogenic. The gift shop. You have to go down this hallway if you want to eat. The pepper market is the resorts food court. The seating area. The seating area was too small for the amount of people that were there. We had to wait for 15 min with food in hand, just for a table. They had a lot of food to choose from. They also have a bar right next to the food court A look into the food court. The next update will be our first park of the trip...disney studios. Stay tuned. Edited July 21, 2010 by thrillrider
triggernel Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Judging from the pictures, I have to agree with you about the two different rooms. The pool looks nice though!
CorkscrewFoley Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Ahh, Disney's Hollywood Studios...art deco paradise. Can't wait for the pics, Dave.
thrillrider Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 Coronado would be an ok resort if you were spending a lot of time at the resort. On with the pictures of Disney hollywood studios. Day 1 Last years prices. Main street. Gas station just inside the main gate. Everybody runs to toy story mania first. When you get near tsm, there is some great theming Monkeys!!!! They even have things on the tops of the buildings. The ride entrance. Toy story mania, has the most awsome switchbacks I have ever seen for any ride. It is a million times better than the disneyland version. The floor is a giant game board. And the ceiling has them as well. Mr potato head. After waiting for all the fat pass people, we finnaly made it to the loading area. The start of the ride. Station area. Voyage of the mirmaid. We will get to this later. Yep I love the attention to detail that disney does. The street that leads to tower or terror and rock and rollercoaster. Getting closer. The sign is really cool. It lights up as well. The attention to detail is amazing. The elevator of terror. Next up, rock n rollercoaster. Big ass guitar Artist entrance. This is where the train launches. The loading platform. The train is theamed to a limo. Notice the speakers? The exit platform. It then spits you into a gift shop. Star wars show. They have the exact same show at disneyland. The star tours ride is in here. We grabbed a fast pass, so we will get back to this ride later. So we hit up muppet vision 3-D The pre show area. The muppet theater. Time to head back to star tours. Getting a fast pass was pointless, cuz it was almost a walk on. C3po Droids and random space garbage. One of the scenes you see while in line. The loading platform. On our way to the great movie ride, we passed the sci fy dinner. We ate in here last trip. We loved the theme, but the food selection was not the greatest. You also pass the ABC themed restaurant. The great movie ride. The building is themed like a theater in california. Can't think of the name of it though. After you board the vehicle, you start to move(very slow) into the ride. I forgot to add a shot of the q line. While in line, you watch random disney movie clips. Back to the ride, it has some amazing theaming. You were not allowed to use a flash, so it was hard to get a good shot of anything. This was one of the few scenes where there was enough lighting to get a good picture. The yellow brick road. Next up, it was time to check out the indiana jones stunt show. There was lot's of action. Stuff blows up also. Next up was the backlot tour. There are movie props on display while your in line. This is the bomb from the movie aramgeden. Another prop from the same movie. The pre show area. If you want to get soaked, you can do so here. Water bombs explode. More movie props. On the way to the ride tram, you pass thru a movie prop wearhouse. The rides tram. Random picture. Not sure what this was for, but I guess it was for a movie they were filming. The old park icon, before the wizards hat was built. You go thru the wardrobe dept. Big balls from pirats of the caribean movie. This used to be walt Disney's private plane. Uh oh...this can't be good. This isn't too bad. This is wayyy too much wetness. Where did everyone go? The water pumps behind the canyon. Star wars props. Speeder. We will be doing this soon. At the exit of the ride, you go thru a musium. Here is the darth vator outfit. The organ from pirates of the caribean movie. Mulch, sweat, and tears. You gotta check this traveling show out. It was hilarious. The fountain from the movie "splash". I love this shot of tower of terror. Next up was beauty and the beast....the show. It was a good show. Uggg...I can't stand High school musuckle. Time for our dinner reservations at 50's prime time. This may be my favorate restaurant in all of walt disneyworld. We have a blast everytime we eat here, and the theming is killer as well. The waiting room looks like my grandmas living room. Just look at this desert greatness. Look at these crazy people. The big wizard hat. They have a really cool disney musium in the park. This is a replica of walt Disney's office. See...I was not lying. Walt, talking about the "florida project". Tower of terror. I got to hang with Roy Disney. This is waht they used to use, to program the animitronics. Spaceship earth. Right next door, we were able to catch a show of the little mermaid. This is the lobby.
thrillrider Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 A few more pictures of Day # 1. The mermaid theater, is like a underwater cave. The park looks great at night. All the buildings use a lot of neon. On our way to see fantasmic. Lots of people come to see fantasmic. It's an ok show, but I would not be heart broken if I missed it. Yep...lots of lights, fire, and water spayers. Mickey is the star of the show. That ends our first day at Disneyworld. Tommarow, we will visit the next park.
rosscoe Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 The Little Mermaid show was the highlight of my trip back in the 90's. Please tell me it's still kick ass.
thrillrider Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 Yes, Its still there and it's still a great show. I love how they use the lasers and lighting. My daughter likes the bubbles...lol
thrillrider Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 Day # 2(part 1) Magic kingdom. The next day, we went to magic kingdom. Since it was getting close to halloween, the park was all decked out in halloween swag. We also signed up for the keys to the kingdom tour(more on that later). I love the magic kingdom park, but I think I like Disneyland slightly better. Disneyland has the indiana jones ride, and the pirates of the caribbean ride at Disneyland is 10x better. None the less, it's still my 2'nd favorite park at Disneyworld. Since we were at Disneyworld for 10 days, I will have a few different updates for this and a few of the other parks. Sorry about the picture quality, I grabbed the wrong camera on this day. On to the pictures...... Yayyy...Disneyworls. But first you have to have your bag searched. I ask the guard what exactly it was that they were looking for, and he said "mouse traps". Opening cerimonies. Then the train arives with the whole Disny gang. They did a great job with the holiday decor. The mad rush into the park. They just tore this down. We were trying to figure out what this used to be. First ride of the day. The long and winding tunnel the the load platform. The load platform. Into the unknown we go. It's too dark to get any pictures of the ride, but this is what you see going up the lift. At the exit of the ride, they have a few space scenes. Robot. We decided to hit this next before the line got crazy long. Smile... This was new since I was here last. The switchbacks. It was ok. I am just glad they did not pick on me. Transit ride. It's a monorail type ride that goes thrue space mountain and near several other attractions. There are a bunch of scenes set up. Remember space mountains lift? Here it is from anaother angle. This is the track you ride on. When we passed thrue space mountain, it was broke down and all the lights were on. This was before the ride was rehabbed, so it looks like they may have been getting the ride ready for it. We skipped stitch, and moved on. We will be back to stitch later in the trip report. Into adventureland we go. I am not sure why, but adventureland is my favorate area in the park. We were heading to potc, so we skipped the carpet ride and the tiki room. Next time...... I love this ride. I have always been fasinated by this ride. There was lots of theming in the line. Our boat. In my next visit to the park, I will have better pictures. Today we were in a hurry. Splash mountain. I really like this ride. A look at the front It's a very long ride. I think it clocks in a 8 min long. Time for a quick lunch. These birds were everywhere. Next up...the haunted mansion. I am glad that the line has a cover. It was starting to get hot. Horselass carage. Down the elevator we go. The doom buggy loading platform. There is a story behind this. We will get into that later. It was time to use our fast pass on splash mountain. You may get wet. One of the lift hills. This is a very well themed ride. The view from the big drop. More scenes. We will do this later. We then made our way to fantasyland. This is the old skyride building. It's kind of a bottleneck. Ok....time to get it out of the way. The rides station. Control booth. There is a restaurant up there, that overlooks the ride. We will eat there later in the trip. I am not that happy, because of that damn song. Evil I think it was on family guy, where the dolls come alive at night. Random scene. We grabbed a fast pass to peter pan. This has got to be the longest line in the park. This show is great. The switchbacks. Next up, we headed back to big thunder for a ride. I will post more pitures in just a bit.
CorkscrewFoley Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 When I was at the Magic Kingdom, we didn't have lines like this, although I do recall Peter Pan being the longest (and probably my favourite ride there). I'm loving these pics Dave! Keep them up.
thrillrider Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 Thank you. Peter pan always has a long wait, even when the park is slow. We waited in line for it once....never again. We were in line for almost an hour and a half. And the line did not look that long. So the only way we ride it now, is if we have a fastpass.
thrillrider Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 Comming up within a few hours, The rest of the first day at magic kingdom, pleasure island, epcot and animal kingdom. I also have a bunch of pictures from blizzard beach.
thrillrider Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 Ok, here is part 2 of day 1 at magic kingdom. Like I mentioned above, I had brought the wrong camera, so the pictures I took this day were not the best. Good thing the line was short. I remember waiting in the line a few years ago. I love the waterfall gag on the first hill. It freaked my daughter out the first time she went on. It's a great mine train coaster. Great theming. The coaster snakes in between the canyons. More theming. The ride has a duel loading station. Here is the section of track that swiches. Next, we took the train to toontown. Even the train has scenery to look at. Mickeys house. Minnies house. Barn stormer coaster. More on this when I have my other camera. Even toon town was decked out for halloween. Tea cups. Back into tommarowland, we pass the speedway. And some great landscaping as well. This garbage can moves around and talks to you. I really like this ride. Disneyland took there version out. The theater for carousel of progress. The next few pictures, are of the differant scenes in the show. We had dinner reservations soon, so we decided to hit all the dark rides in fantasyland. They were walk ons for the most part. The station for snow white. The ride vehicle. I was able to snag a few shots of the ride. He is about to do her. The attention to detail is amazing. Look at the celing at the gift shop right next to snow white. Time to cash in those fast passes for peter pan. A few of the scenes. You fly over a city. It was dinner time.Tonight we picked the liberty tree inn to eat at. Can you guess witch one is goofy? After dinner, the lights started comming on, and it was almost time for the fireworks. Pretty..... We had time for a quick ride on pooh. The ride vehicle A few shots. One last shot from pooh. Fireworks time. I really like this show. When I was at disneyland, they only have this show once an a while. I am glad they do the show everynight here. Yes, we did make it back to see the tiki room. More pictures of this later. That's it for our first day at the magic kingdom. Tommarow, we hit animal kingdom.
